Father’s Day is this Sunday, and if you are anything like my children you’re probably just now thinking about what to get your pops on that special day. Of course, it’s not always easy to determine what he might like or dislike, so choosing the perfect gift can be difficult.

If your dad’s happy place is at the range, he probably doesn’t need—or want—another tie or pair of slippers. Consider this list of shooting-related gifts to make this a truly happy Father’s Day.

ShellShock Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo

If you think your dad has a hard time hearing you when you’re talking now, imagine if his hearing is damaged any further from excessive trips to the range. The Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo protects both senses with electronic earmuffs that are ANSI rated and marked with 27dB SNR / 21dB NRR hearing protection and shooting glasses that are ANSI Z87.1+ rated & marked for protective eyewear.

1791 Gunleather Optic Ready Light Bearing Fair Chase Holster

If you think your father doesn’t need another holster, you’re just not thinking straight. The new Optic Ready Light Bearing Fair Chase Holsters, available in several different sizes, are made specifically for pistols equipped with lights and red-dots, and are handcrafted from American whitetail deer hides.

HQ ISSUE Handgun Carry Case

For dads on the go, the HQ ISSUE Handgun Carry Case is great for a trip to the range or even for air travel since it is TSA approved. Equipped with customizable phone padding, your pops can cut it to whatever configuration he sees best for his handgun collection. The heavy-duty molded plastic construction will hold up to the worst wear and tear.

Vortex Viper 1×24 mm 6 MOA Red Dot Sight

A good red-dot can make shooting a pistol, PCC or even carbine more fun, and Vortex makes some good ones at a good price. The Vortex Viper features a bright-red 6-MOA reticle for clear targeting in any light level or background color. Best of all, you can get one right now from under $120 from Optics Planet.

Spyderco Tenacious 3.39 inch Folding Knife

No dad can have too many pocket knives and this Spyderco Tenacious is sure to put a smile on his face. It has a 3.39-inch drop point blade made of Cr13Mov stainless steel and a black G-10 laminate handle. Open length is 7.75 inches, folded length is 4.36 inches and it weighs in at only 4 ounces.

Leupold Rogue Compact Binoculars

A good set of compact binoculars will serve your dad well whether in the field, at the range or just sightseeing while on vacation. Leupold is famous for its binoculars, and the Leupold Rogue Compact can be had at a very reasonable price for the glass quality. The 8×25 binoculars are rugged and reliable, and deliver bright crisp images.

ALPS OutdoorZ Little Bear Hunting Pack

Big game hunters need a good purpose-made backpack, and ALPS OutdoorZ makes some of the best. The ALPS Little Bear Hunting Pack can be used as a shoulder harness pack or fanny pack. It’s compact and lightweight, but still features a main, front and two side belt pockets for plenty of room for lots of gear. It’s available in Realtree Edge or Mossy Oak Country DNA camo.

Streamlight Wedge

If I’ve ever met a man who had too many high-quality flashlights, I sure didn’t know about it. The Streamlight Wedge brings both quality and value to the world of small flashlights and will make your dad a happy man. At less than 5.5 inches long and weighing only 3.3 ounces, the anodized aluminum Wedge shines a 300 lumen beam for up to three hours.

Caldwell Lead Sled 3

Caldwell has been making solutions for stable shooting for decades, and the Lead Sled 3 would make a good addition to any dad’s range gear. It is ideal for sighting in and reducing recoil for any rifles and shotguns. The non-marring rear cradle will protect pop’s firearm stock from damage, and the rubber feet grip the surface to ensure a more stable shoot.

Hoppe’s Deluxe Gun Cleaning Kit

Most dads know that a clean gun is a happy gun, and Hoppe’s has been making top-quality gun cleaning supplies for decades. The company’s Deluxe Gun Cleaning Kit is all your father needs for keeping all of his pistols, rifles and shotguns clean and ready for use. The 62-piece kit contains everything from rods and brushes to jags and muzzle guards, along with Hoppes’ famous No. 9 bore cleaner.

Crossbreed Classic Gun Belt

Dads who have carried a concealed handgun for any amount of time know that a good gun belt is just as important as a good holster. Crossbreed makes great holsters, and their Classic Gun Belt is also top-quality. Made from hide specifically tanned to Crossbreed’s specifications, a woven nylon webbing on the inside makes the belt even sturdier. It’s available in black, brown, founder’s leather or gray.

First Tactical Recoil Range Bag

A good range bag can ensure your dad’s trip to the range is spent shooting instead of digging around for lost gear items. The First Tactical Recoil Range Bag is great for both storage and organization, and what’s not to like about that? Designed with tough 600D polyester and closed foam padding, the bag features specialized internal pockets and compartments, making quickly locating gear easy.

  1. My Dad? He’s been worm food since 1992.
And just being “my kids” is the greatest Fathers day present I could ask for.
Besides none of us do the holiday thing.
Why do Catholics eat fish on Friday?

  2. The Lead Sled 3 is a great rest but that middle reinforcement bar does get in the way of leverguns and any rifle with a long box mag. An acceptable alternative is the Lead Sled Solo, which has an offset bar that accommodates just about any long gun, in exchange for being a bit less stable overall.

  3. Other than Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day (I am married after all and prefer to stay that way) I do not celebrate Hallmark Holidays, and have told my children and wife I’d prefer if they just skipped father’s day.

    • I hope this weekend to spend time with my son, and hopefully some range time as well with both of us competing.

Last weekend was the first time we were able to get to the range in months. His sports, injuries, illness, and a lot of bad weather kept us from the range.

        • Thanks possum. It’s been weather or family events that kept us from the range for the last 2 months. An outdoor range is not much fun in the rain. Add more misery points if it is windy as well.

      • Enjoy your time out there. My dad passed a few years ago and what I wouldn’t give to be able to go shoot or hunt or just sit and have a drink and talk one more time.

  4. Great suggestions for Father’s Day gifts! Whether it’s protecting his hearing at the range or exploring new gear, these ideas are sure to make any dad smile. Don’t forget to capture those special moments with Lightroom app—perfect for preserving memories of shooting adventures and family time together.
