Welcome to Philipe’s second Everyday Carry submission titled “Brazilian 1911” from Everyday CarryWe looked at his first a few days ago.

Taking a second look at this, my man-crush continues to grow over that Imbel GC MD2-LX .380 double-stack 1911-style pistol.  Nineteen round magazines?  Yummy.

I have to say Philipe’s stuff looks like new, just out of the box.  I’ve worn the finish off the wear-points on the slides of three Glock 19s over the years.  And my carry flashlight and knife both show a lot of wear.  As in the anodizing on my flashlights has almost completely gone on one flashlight.  Both of Philipe’s (nice!) Sure-Fires look brand spankin’ new.

Ditto for the Maxpedition case.

I give him high praise for the photography.  But then again, that’s his job!

  1. I can hardly get past a 9mm 1911, much less a 9mm Kurz. No matter how many rounds it carries. Of course, it is another country, so there may be things that prevent him from carrying a serious caliber. Sure Fire light. That’s a plus. I don’t carry anything else. The rest of the gear looks 10-8 also. Just that whole .380 thing.

    • @ Gadsen Flag

How about a Bond Bullpup9 Pistol! Same size and approximate weight of an .380, but with same size barrel and 9×19 para of a standard 9-mil…

    • In Brazil, they are not allowed to own military caliber ammo and guns, hence the .380 because no military in the world issues it. A lot better than nothing by a wide margin.

      • If their government wants to completely ban firearms, all they have to do is issue weapons in every caliber available to their armed forces. They don’t need to issue thousand in each caliber, just one, and the taxpayers will cover the cost…think about it.

  2. A2 is a nice light. Nice multitool too.

Shemagh and a Maxpedition bag… treading close to tacticool.

    • I just got back from a four day defensive handgun class near Pahrump, Nevada. The wind was brutal on one of the days and the sun was surprisingly aggressive towards my pasty white winter skin. A couple of guys had these Shemaghs. I had never even heard of one before, but my wind burned face and sun burned neck would’ve appreciated the protection. I just added this one to my list.

  3. In my local fish-wrapper today :

“1 man ran at New Zealand gunman”

“Abdul Aziz, 48, is being hailed as a hero for preventing more deaths during Friday prayers at the Linwood mosque in Christchurch after leading the gunman in a cat-and-mouse chase before scaring him into speeding away in his car.

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — When the gunman advanced toward the mosque, killing those in his path, Abdul Aziz didn’t hide. Instead, he picked up the first thing he could find, a credit card machine, and ran outside screaming “Come here!”

Aziz, 48, is being hailed as a hero for preventing more deaths during Friday prayers at the Linwood mosque in Christchurch after leading the gunman in a cat-and-mouse chase before scaring him into speeding away in his car.

But Aziz, whose four sons and dozens of others remained in the mosque while he faced off with the gunman, said he thinks it’s what anyone would have done.

The gunman killed 49 people after attacking two mosques in the deadliest mass shooting in New Zealand’s modern history.

The gunman is thought to have killed 41 people at the Al Noor mosque before driving about 3 miles across town and attacking the Linwood mosque, where he killed seven more people. One person died later in a hospital.

White supremacist Brenton Tarrant, 28, has been charged with one count of murder in the slayings and a judge said Saturday that it was reasonable to assume more charges would follow.

Latef Alabi, the Linwood mosque’s acting imam, said the death toll would have been far higher at the Linwood mosque if it wasn’t for Aziz.

Alabi said he heard a voice outside the mosque at about 1:55 p.m. and stopped the prayer he was leading and peeked out the window. He saw a guy in black military-style gear and a helmet holding a large gun, and assumed it was a police officer. Then he saw two bodies and heard the gunman yelling obscenities.

“I realized this is something else. This is a killer,” he said.

He yelled at the congregation of more than 80 to get down. They hesitated. A shot rang out, a window shattered and a body fell, and people began to realize it was for real.

“Then this brother came over. He went after him, and he managed to overpower him, and that’s how we were saved,” Alabi said, referring to Aziz. “Otherwise, if he managed to come into the mosque, then we would all probably be gone.”

Aziz said as he ran outside screaming, he was hoping to distract the attacker. He said the gunman ran back to his car to get another gun, and Aziz hurled the credit card machine at him.

He said he could hear his two youngest sons, aged 11 and 5, urging him to come back inside.

The gunman returned, firing. Aziz said he ran, weaving through cars parked in the driveway, which prevented the gunman from getting a clean shot. Then Aziz spotted a gun the gunman had abandoned and picked it up, pointed it and squeezed the trigger. It was empty.

He said the gunman ran back to the car for a second time, likely to grab yet another weapon.

“He gets into his car and I just got the gun and threw it on his window like an arrow and blasted his window,” he said.

The windshield shattered: “That’s why he got scared.”

He said the gunman was cursing at him, yelling that he was going to kill them all. But he drove away and Aziz said he chased the car down the street to a red light, before it made a U-turn and sped away. Online videos indicate police officers managed to force the car from the road and drag out the suspect soon after.

Originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, Aziz said he left as a refugee when he was a boy and lived for more than 25 years in Australia before moving to New Zealand a couple of years ago.

“I’ve been to a lot of countries and this is one of the beautiful ones,” he said. And, he always thought, a peaceful one as well.

Aziz said he didn’t feel fear or much of anything when facing the gunman. It was like he was on autopilot. And he believes that God, that Allah, didn’t think it was his time to die.”

  4. Any one know if these pistols are true 1911s chambered for 380, or a simplified direct blowback action, like those full sized Glock 380s they sell in central and South America?

    • @ MouseGun

Back in 2017, Browning produced a Recoil Action Compact 1911-380. But I don’t remember what the price was…

  5. Here’s something to make those who live in America, really appreciate living in America :

“NZ Threatens 10 Years In Prison For ‘Possessing’ Mosque Shooting Video; Web Hosts Warned”

“New Zealand authorities have reminded citizens that they face up to 10 years in prison for “knowingly” possessing a copy of the New Zealand mosque shooting video – and up to 14 years in prison for sharing it. Corporations (such as web hosts) face an additional $200,000 ($137,000 US) fine under the same law.”

    • The US is very lucky it has the 1st Amendment as enshrined as it is. Just imagine, Europe (and its colonies) was the bed of the Enlightenment. And yet here we are now.

    • As they clamp down they will find that the resistance to their power grows as they alienate more and more people.

The dude who did this had a shockingly detailed plan for the short, medium and longer terms. The powers that be are following his playbook and I somehow doubt that will end well.

I mean, he wrote stuff that would obviously apply to the Yellow Jackets in France and 48 hours after his manifesto goes wide on the net they have violent riots in Paris? That could be a coincidence but we should be watching out for a trend.

      • Ahh, The Yellow Jackets. The French could be on their way to revolution 2.0, the mainstream media nary whispers a peep, what, 18 weeks in?

NPR actually mentions it in passing occasionally, characterizing them as “protesters against some of Macron’s policies’. Not as “French who want their country back from Islamic invaders”.

Western Civilization has finally gotten beyond the propaganda, and has admitted to itself that Islam is invading yet again, except this time they’re being welcomed (and funded) by the government. Shockingly, the proles ain’t diggin’ it.

These type of events will continue to transpire, with increasing frequency. The only thing to be decided is what the actual outcome of this will be long-term. As noted, the gunman’s playbook is (sorta) being followed, and he won’t be the first.

  6. Nice gun. The single stack 380 1911s from Browning and Rock Island are nice, but 19 rounds!!!!!!!!
