From ABC News: A new photograph obtained exclusively by ABC News showing the bloodied back of George Zimmerman’s head, which was apparently taken three minutes after he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, gives possible credence to his claim that Martin had bashed his head against the concrete as Zimmerman fought for his life. This certainly appears to support Zimmerman’s claim that he was getting a beat-down . . .

Question of the Day: Have You Been Discriminated Against Because of Your Guns?
The Missouri legislature’s been steadily moving a bill through the sausage grinder that’s ostensibly intended to prevent discrimination against gun owners. It would basically make anyone who owns a heater or has used one in the past a protected class. “A Missouri Senate panel has endorsed legislation making it illegal for employers to discriminate against current or prospective workers who have concealed weapon permits or have used a legal firearm. The measure would prohibit refusing to hire an applicant solely because the person has used a firearm for a legal purpose, such as self-defense.”
In Which Your Correspondent Considers Protecting Others While Armed
I am a sinner. For those of you who do not share my faith, please understand that I offer this meditation only to my brothers and sisters, though feel free to participate. I don’t think anything I say is meant for anyone except for those who voluntarily submit to the authority of God and or His son Jesus Christ.
Swift Bullets: A-Frame and Scirocco II
I stopped by Swift Bullets to see the “A-Frame” and “Scirocco II” bullets. According to Brad Elder, his bad boy bullets hold their mass at a wide variety of bullet velocities. The image above: a series of Swift Bullets fired at varying velocities, steadily transforming from a sleek, aerodynamic shape into a big fat mushroom. Still, … Read more
Charter Arms .40 Cal Revolver
That’s right – I said .40 cal, as in the .40 S&W. This sturdy little revolver has a patented detent that allows a rimless cartridge to snap snugly into the cylinder and stay there until you intentionally eject it. No “moon clips” needed…
Question for CZ-USA: Is Dan Wesson Coming Back?
Bontai Joe asks me to ask CZ USA, “Will they ever bring back the Dan Wesson revolvers?” Jason Morton of CZ-USA says that they are making Dan Wesson revolvers, but production is really slow. Out of production for several years, they are still having some vendor trouble getting the kinks worked out of the production … Read more
74 Years in the NRA
You meet the most interesting people at the NRA Annual Meeting. My lovely and gracious wife was hanging out and ran into Wayne Burd, a 95 year old NRA Life Member. He’s been a member for 74 years, joining the organization in 1938. Wayne had been recognized as being the oldest living member in attendance. Not sure if they had anyone in attendance who deceased, but I digress.
Ruger Questions from “You Choose the Blog”
I stopped by the Ruger booth to pass along questions about possible new products, such as Officer and Commander versions of their SR1911. Alas and alack, the answer is simple. No comment. Not a nudge, nudge, wink, wink no comment, but a “we are a publicly traded company and don’t want to attract a sh*tstorm … Read more
FNS Compact On the Horizon?
Daniel asks the following in the You Choose the Blog comments – FNH-USA: when to expect FNS compact from FHN USA. Erik Lund says that yes indeed, there will be an FNS compact, and that the development team is putting the new firearm through its paces. Unfortunately, he could not provide an eta, though when I said “soon” … Read more
Taurus Rifles – Why No Imports?
Texas Deputy asks: TAURUS: When are you going to start selling your already existing, currently produced long guns in the US? Bruce Kraft ran this question to ground for the Armed Intelligentsia. “It turns out that thanks to Senator Dodd’s fascist Gun Control Act of 1968, you cannot import a firearm with a magazine capacity … Read more
You Choose the Blog
I’ve had a pretty good run today at the NRA Annual Meeting. Met some great folks, had some laughs, abused me some fellow bloggers. Still, I can’t help but feel like I should give something back. . .
Ruger 10/22 Takedown Demonstration
Check out the slick, easy takedown of the new Ruger 10/22. The sales guy said the takedown has no effect on its accuracy. YMMV, but I want one now.
