OK, stickers and hats are pretty typical items for swag here at the SHOT Show. But the ever-thoughtful folks at Knight’s Armament are going the extra mile and providing select SHOT Show attendees with PPDs. What, pray tell, is a PPD, you ask? . . .

Well, the KAC Personal Protection Device (“PPD”), is just the thing you need “when your life is on the line” here in Vegas. I can just hear someone shouting, “Cover me, I’m going in!” The tactical colors are a nice touch, but sadly  the “Magnum” versions are still in R&D.  🙁

    • Sure. Griffin & Howe for starters. But you won’t find them on the semi-auto or military weapons side. Come to think of it, I’m posting on a site that just inspired me to ask “is there a Reduced Recoil version?” “Fire in the hole!” And, of course, “are they lubricated.” Class. I should reflect on that.

      • There are indeed a number of high-class gun companies out there, and as you point out, G&H is one of them.

        You usually won’t find them at the SHOT Show, and more to the point, we probably won’t find their goods and services reviewed here at TTAG. If you want to see classy guns and classy gun makers, the SCI shows in Reno or Dallas are better venues, and the custom gun maker shows that are often nearby are where some of the truly nice stuff goes on display.

        There’s a distinct lack of black cheez-whiz at these nicer gun shows.

    • I am truly sorry nights armament, doesn’t rise too your personal standard in the classiness of their swag giving.

      • Hey, I’m sorry too. But maybe you guessed that. Then again, I’ve always wondered why SHOT has been held in Sin City for the last decade or so.

        • Because of the size of the show. We in the computer industry wondered why we had to hold our shows in Vegas as well. Turns out, when you have a show the size of SHOT, there’s really only two cities in the US which have the infrastructure to allow you to put together a show of this size under one roof:

          – Vegas
          – Atlanta

          Which would you rather attend?

        • I attended COMDEX in Atlanta. Once. I’m a big fan of going to trade shows in Vegas, even when I have to stay somewhere like the Hard Rock because of corporate travel idiocy.

    • I was going to remind folks that they used to put rubbers over the muzzles of Rifles back in the day.

      • It kept dirt and stuff out of the barrel, but still allowed you to shoot the rifle instantly. Very important when slogging around the jungles of Viet Nam or in the fine sand of eastern Iraq.

      • Back in the day? Hell they still tell you to do it today. Sure they have those plastic muzzle protectors that also work but condoms are generally cheaper and a box will provide the whole squad with a replacement for less space taken up than those plastic things.

    I know it’s a gag, I know it’s Vegas, it just seems in bad tastes to me.

  8. I’m sure Trey is losing a lot of sleep over your lost respect while continuing to supply countless $400 flash hiders, sr25’s and m110 SASSs. He’s a good guy making good money doing good things. And you’re here complaining about condoms. Don’t worry though, we all hold you in the highest regard.

    • Yeah, it’s pretty funny that they are getting booty hurt over dong bags. I enjoy them getting upset more than the novelty of the dong bags themselves. The jokes pretty Mich write themselves.

  16. Cannot believe the people getting offended by a condom in humorous packaging for an event in Las Vegas…
    You must go thru life completely appaled by half of what you see.
    I mean really….its a condom.
    Definitely the same people who cry foul when any picture of a female model in swimwear is posted

  18. I found it to be rather apropos considering the history of condoms used on rifles. And yes squares, KAC makes rifles.

  20. Jeez people, lighten up, it’s a trade show in Vegas. I have no problem with this marketing effort. The goal of any marketing effort is to get people talking about you, this has succeeded. Raise for the KAC marketing director!

  22. So many uptight people with no sense of humor ’round here, I’d feel more offended looking at all of you who thought it was anything worth being offended over! Luckily I know better. That will not change my opinion of KAC one bit.
