At TTAG’s request, the Chicago Police Department has released the selection criteria for unsafe handguns: the firearms banned under the Windy City’s new handgun [non] registration scheme. According to the Police News Affairs division, Daley’s mob defines an unsafe handgun as any handgun . . .
A. having a barrel, slide, frame, or receiver die-cast of zinc alloy or any non-homogenous metal.
B. that does not have a full trigger guard.
C. that is not equipped by the manufacturer with a sighting system.
D. recalled by the manufacturer to be destroyed, replaced, or to have fifty percent or more of its components replaced
A handgun has to have a sighting system to be legal in Chicago? So why hasn’t Jodie’s crew blacklisted the Smith & Wesson 642 or Ruger LCP? Bottom line: no belly guns for you boyo.
I'm surprised they didn't just say any gun that uses bullets is unsafe and thus banned. Would at least have saved a tree that way.
Wouldn't that leave out any aluminum, or titanium alloy handgun? For example Springfield Armory EMP you just reviewed, it has an alloy frame.
Additionally isn't stainless steel a "non-homogenous metal"?
Actually, steel isn’t even a homogeneous metal.
Unless the ‘legal’ definition of “homogeneous metal” differs from the technical definition.
I'm not quite sure how not having a barrel, slide, frame, or receiver die-cast of zinc alloy or any non-homogenous metal can be unsafe. May the Police c an interject their thinking here.
