Ahmad Khan Rahami, the man suspected of executing the bomb attack in New York City and Seaside Park, New Jersey this weekend, has been captured alive after a shootout with police, multiple news sources are reporting.

The New York Times reports that Rahami was found in Linden, New Jersey, just across from Staten Island. In the ensuing fight, Rahami was wounded as were two unidentified police officers. The officers, according to WABC-TV, did not suffer life-threatening injuries, and only one of them may have actually been shot. Elizabeth, NJ mayor Chris Bollwage was quoted as saying one officer was hit in the protective vest and the other in the hand.

The New York Post states that a “key piece of evidence to Rahami was a fingerprint found on an unexploded device,” along with a cellular telephone left behind near “a  pressure cooker found on West 27th Street — blocks away from the explosion [in Chelsea] on West 23rd Street….” Police and BATFE agents raided “an apartment where Rahami lives above the family’s restaurant — First American Fried Chicken — on Elmora Avenue.”

The Guardian reports that Rahami is apparently an adherent of the Islamic faith, and had apparently complained of suffering discrimination on the basis of religion to city officials in the past:

[Elizabeth, NJ Mayor Bollwage] said the family had owned and operated its business, First American Fried Chicken, and lived above the modest shop on Elmora Ave, New Jersey since 2002.

The mayor spoke about how the chicken store had faced complaints and problems in 2012, when the city council and police enforced that it close at 10pm. He acknowledged that Rahami’s Muslim faith was mentioned repeatedly by Rahami in complaints about city authorities.

“He brought up his faith in the lawsuit, he brought up his faith in conversations with city officials … [but the complaint] had nothing to do with ethnicity or religious beliefs, it had to do with a lot of people hanging out in front of the store at all hours as well as congregating and code enforcement problems,” said Bollwage.

  1. The usual suspects…

However, doesn’t the First Amendment say something about “…the right of the people peaceably to assemble.”? Seems like New Jersey has a bug up their butt about more than just the 2A.

    • The article said the city was responding to complaints from citizens. If you ever lived in the inner city you would know what kind of problems happen in front of the all night fried chicken joint. If you dont have drug dealing, prostitution, and shootings (all covered up by the owners) in front of your local KFC wanna be, then you have no idea….. the way you frame your argument is quite poetic and beautiful, but extraordinarily naive.

      • Well, the key word is “peaceably”. (There’s those quote marks and punctuation!) If the assemblies at the location were not peaceable then the answer, IMO, is to deal with the breach of peace, not set arbitrary business hours. If the business itself is “an attractive nuisance” then that is a whole different legal issue.

I’m not in favor of “Muzzies”, per se, nor a bigot in that regard, but I am also not in favor of allowing any government agency to erode the protections of any of the Bill of Rights, no matter who you are.

      • I guess most people kind of skip right over that word. I’m including myself in that group, since I didn’t realize it until you pointed it out.

  2. Whoo who! A chicken shop…and Bury Soetoro drones on and one how “safe” we all are. If you see somethin’say…oh wait you can’t carry in NYC or Joisey(unless you’re connected). Aloha snackbar Ahmad…and Trump/Pence 2016.

    • I’m not speaking from experience, but I’d suspect that people who go through the effort to hide bombs in trash cans then bug out aren’t exactly chomping at the bit to really learn whether their faith is true or not.

    • If you’re a terrorist, a good bomb maker is a precious commodity. Not to be wasted testing the product.

      • This guy might not be the maker!
I agree it’s better to have him alive- maybe some intel to be had by, ahem, strongly worded questions and a “please.”

  3. I wonder if it is common for Afghans to open all night fried chicken joints?
There used to be an Afghan chicken joint operating in the next block from here catering to the indigenous population selling T-shirts, Hats, cellphone covers and blunts.

  4. “I’ve been oppressed, so I’m going to drop a couple bombs in a predominately “progressive”/gay neighborhood in NYC.”

Yeah, something tells me this guy knows how to play the Oppression Olympics with the SJW crowd. I’ll be laughing my ass off when the Chelsea/Ivory Tower SJW crowd starts blaming rayciss right-wingers for this attack.

    • Governor Dayton and the Minneapolis ‘Stib has already done this for the St Cloud attack. The original ‘Strib article made it sound like he was the victim of the attack.

      • I figured some dumbass had already procured the verbal diarrhea into print form. Glad to see they didn’t disappoint.

  5. So at this point, two of the terror attacks; one bombing and the stabbing attack were committed by Muslims. Do we know who committed the second bombing?

Yep, like I said to Ralph, the attacks would most likely be by Muslims, and/or by leftists.

The two ideologies are two sides of the same coin of the embracing of the darkest, most savage and bloodiest sides of the human spirit and calling it being “enlightened”.

“By their fruits you will know them”. The fact that some Christians fully support abortion and also defend the cult of Islam, like the pope has done, as well as supporting the SJW ideology of state created “victim hood”, shows what the bible has said that “even the elect will be deceived”.

    • @ThomasR, it seems like the New Jersey Marine Corp race bombing and the Chelsea bombing may have been perpetrated by the same person or gang. Other New Jersey bombs (that didn’t explode) have been linked to the Chelsea bomber.

I would be surprised if the Central Park IED that blew off a young guy’s foot wasn’t a practice bomb planted by the same crew to see if the product worked.

And I note that, if the FBI or any other Fed agency had been running this investigation and not the NYPD, this case might be solved by the Twelfth of Never.

      • Yep. The Fibbies have the same disease of all large government beaurcracies; the less efficient they are with the more red tape and they are rewarded with a bigger budget and then you have the Peter Principle.

Oh, and also if the official federal edict is that you can’t link the words Islamic with terrorist, or be vilified as “racist”, (though Islam is an belief and not a race) well, there you go.

  6. “Rahami lives above the family’s restaurant — First American Fried Chicken”

See, your doctor was right — fried food will kill you.

  7. I love that the two hobos in elizabeth found the bomb in a garbage can in elizabeth. Then put it back and walked the two blocks to the police station to tell them about it. Then the robot set it off trying to disarm it. The explosion was pretty loud even from three blocks away.

  8. Can’t have a diner open after 2200 cuz govt doesn’t like the way the street looks? WTF happened to the American Dream?

And, oh Ahmad, of course, Ahmad. This is my shocked face.

    • How about disrupting the dreams of the American neighbors with your loud cackling at midnight? Your rights end when you mess with the rights of others.

  9. Too bad none of the New Jersey Police “sharpshooters” had the marksmanship required to bring the suspect to room temperature and save the taxpayers a ton of cash.

  10. A gun fight in NJ? Unpossible! They have common sense gun safety regulation laws there! Nobody should be able to get a gun except the heavily trained, vetted, and costumed NJ police!

  11. It should be noted that ISIS claimed the stabber in St. Paul as one of theirs, but not this guy, at least so far. This does not appear as a religiously motivated attack, but an anger management issue arising from the unrelenting obstinacy of government bureaucracy. Also note that this gentleman is a naturalized US citizen. Move along,. nothing to see here.

  12. Why is this guy in America?
Do we real need to import bombers so we can experience death by explosive like other countries?
Ban Muslims from coming here just like president Carter did.
Since when do people have a right to travel to the USA?
No foreign person has a right to become an American citizen.

  13. accidentally feed him to the pigs! gotta be a couple of farms around St cloud! deport the Parents as they are not American citizens so US law does not apply! Ban all these radicals and family’s or prepare for vigilante law! Blame the democrats and the Gaga Media who are so in love with helping a Black president Destroy our Country! The Politicians will soon find out this is my country not theirs, we believe in Guts God and take the Constitution at face value wit none of their amendments needed
    Non Sibi Sed Patriae!
