If you’re an operator who operates operationally, hold onto your load-bearing equipment. Swiss gun maker Bruegger & Thomet (slightly better known as B&T) has announced their long-anticipated integrally suppressed 9mm and .45 sub guns for the US market.

While the original design has a giggle switch and is intended for LEO and tactical use, B&T will be importing semi-auto versions of both guns. If you’ll be at the NRA in Dallas next week, you’ll be able to fondle with one.

But if you’re thinking “that’d make a perfect home defense gun” and want to add an APC to your safe, you’ll need to save your samolians. Both the 9mm and .45APC versions will run you about $2400. And that’s before the tax stamp. Here’s their press release . . .

Tampa, FL – B&T introduces the newest members of its Advanced Police Carbine (APC) family of precision carbines, the integrally suppressed APC9 SD. Reliable, accurate, and compact, this new suppressed APC carbine is also extremely quiet.

The new APC9 SD pistol, chambered in 9mm Luger, provides extreme reliability from a close bolt blow-back system. Ports just forward of the chamber are designed to reduce the speed of supersonic rounds to subsonic speed similar to the famed HK MP5 SD. In fact the US Version of the APC9 SD utilizes the same suppressor models (SD-988010-2-US (full size) and SD-988010-3-US (compact version)) suppressor that B&T manufactures for use with the HK MP5 SD. The APC9 SD features ambidextrous controls, integrated NATO accessory rails, a red dot sight, and a two-stage trigger. It comes with one 30-round magazine.

Also new to the APC line up is a 45 ACP variant, the APC45 SD. Equipped with the same features as the APC9 SD, the APC45 SD comes with one 25-round magazine.

See this new addition to the APC line, along with the powerful APC308 and exciting new products like the USW-320, at the 2018 NRA Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, Booth # 9361.

  1. No giggle switch for me and $2400 semolians plus taxes…………..Nice but not in my safe.
Now suppressed Tommy Gun from Kahr might be doable some day if they ever build a range down here.

  2. I’m tempted, I have started to realize that the collector guns of tomorrow start out as the expensive guns of today. The HK91 back in the 80’s was a a pricey gun for it’s time as well. Although I think resale (in 20-30 years) will be complicated with the tax stamp, meaning less price appreciation. Hard to call on which argument is better/woese

  3. Unless the suppressors are American made I don’t see how these get past import restrictions for civilian sales. LEO/government sales are exempt from the import restrictions, but my understanding of the law was that anything NFA was strictly barred from import for the civilian market.

    • You can buy a variety of b&t USA supressors now, these are made in the USA from Swiss designs and materials. I think this pistol might be sold without the supressor anyway, similar to buying an SD type gun from others, so you could add the can of your choice, either b&t USA cans, knights, silencerco Omega SD, or any of the ones offered by other mp5sd builders.

So I see how the APC 9 SD works, b&t makes both an mp5sd barrel and the can, so this has a similar ported barrel design with rear threads and a lengthened handguard.

They didn’t mention if the APC 45 also has a ported barrel, or if the barrel is just shorter, with the same 3 lug mount and can as the regular APC 45, just used under the rail. Since 45 is usually subsonic in pistols, and an APC 45 SD barrel wouldn’t be much longer than most 45 handguns anyway.

  4. Some day I’m sure the “operator operating operationally” joke will get old and annoying…

  5. Just something else that these bleeding heart liberals will want to ban and get taken away.. I’m a VERY big second amendment believer and it’s a shame that a beautiful piece of Machinery like that will rub someone the wrong way and they will CRY that it’s all because of the looks of the weapons that make people do what they do IDK something like that I’m sure they will CRY about .. I say COME AND TRY TO TAKE’EM

  6. Guys, I can understand the ‘meh’ factor when it comes to some of their 9mm models. However, the APC45 for which I own, is truly a slick PCC. The mag catch needs improvement *cough* needs to be metal *cough* but everything else is as smooooth as silk. The accuracy is awesome, and followup shots are super easy to pull off. I’ve shot a full auto UMP and a semi 45 KRISS and this was by far the smoothest and most comfortable 45 PCC. I had a gunsmith finally thread the barrel and it also makes a great suppressor host. Got it for $2300 with tax. Worth every penny. I’d trust my life with it.

  7. If the police have nothing to hide — they’d never do anything that won’t pass scrutiny, later — why do they need to “silence” the fact that they are shooting.

If you’re doing the right thing, attention is good, right?

    • That’s why I use a snubbie .44 magnum at the range with no hearing protection allowed for anyone
