“Gov. Jerry Brown signed a law Saturday that will remove the rights of school administrators to decide whether employees with concealed weapon permits can bring guns on campus,” latimes.com reports. “State law already prohibited civilians who are not school workers from bringing firearms onto campuses, but a change in the law last year gave school district superintendents power to decide if employees could bring concealed weapons onto campuses.”

Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D- Sacramento) authored the bill. He reckons it increases safety . . .

Five California school districts — including the Kingsburg Joint Union and Kern school districts — have begun to issue authorizations for some school employees to bring guns on campuses, McCarty said. He said it has increased the chance of school shootings.

“A safe learning environment is essential for our children to be successful in the classroom,” McCarty said. “That’s not possible if a school district allows armed civilians to roam California school campuses.”

Armed civilians roaming school campuses? I think he meant to say background-checked school administrators going about their work, prepared and determined to protect their students by force of arms.

Educators who now must either break the law and risk losing their job and career, or disarm and re-open the possibility of an school shooter killing and maiming students, with no chance of immediate ballistic intervention.

And if there’s a school shooting in California — especially one in a school where staff have been disarmed by this law — remember this day and these legislators. Even absent that, shame on them all.

  1. Seems like Brown is just setting up California to annex itself. It’ll be really bad when all the illegals start to pour in uncontrolled because of that idiot.

    • Californians left to neighboring states due to weed laws and lower costs of living. The result was a shift of those states to pass the same gun infringements California has. The federal government approves.

Illegals already flow freely into California. It’s to the point they are now moving to states further from the border.

      • I don’t buy it.

As of 2016 Cali has legal pot.

Before that there was medical marijuana and if Colorado is anything to go by it wasn’t hard to find a doc that would sign off on getting you a card. Of course doing that tossed your 2A rights out the window…

Most of the people from Cali that I meet in Colorado came here for monetary reasons. Taxes, cost of living etc.

The “Weedies” are mostly hippies from the East.

        • I heard from many people that moved out of California. They gave one or two reasons: weed and cost of living. When they moved CA hadn’t yet passed recreational use and Obama was raiding CA weed shops.

        • I haven’t heard people from Cali cite weed as a reason for leaving.

If Cali wanted to avoid DEA raids under Obama maybe they should have listened when he told them that they needed a tighter regulatory framework in regards to keeping track of production and keeping pot out of the hands of kids (hahahahaha!).

Either way I don’t buy the weed excuse since it’s been A LONG time that you could tell a doc that your back hurts and get pot in Cali. Like two freaking decades.

  2. When Clinton was President Wayne LaPierre he said President Clinton wanted a certain level of killing in the United States. I think Governor Brown and assemblyman McCarthy also want a certain level of killing in the state of California. This way it is easier to control the population of the state after the civilians are disarmed.

    • To late, the infection already moved to the rest of the body. Paddock is getting what he wanted — the host is in very bad condition.

  3. The Governor, minus his protective entourage, needs to be present on the school campus when the next deranged individual with cans of gas, knives, baseball bats, vehicle, etc. decides to take out his/her frustrations in a gun-free zone. (Ah, I forgot…they can call LE to save the day after the damage is done and to write the reports detailing the lives lost due to inaction by an unarmed faculty.) Wonder if the enlightened California legislative elite should also ban all of the non-gun tools and modes of destruction readily available to inflict pain and death (or, is just a matter of time before they prove they’re all under-educated as to the desire for law-abiding citizens to take care of themselves vs. relying on the nanny state?).

  4. If there haven’t been any shootings at the schools with armed administrators, how can they say whether it increases or decreases the chance.

Furthermore, if it could be proven conclusively that it decreased the chance, does Kevin really expect us to believe he would not be against it?

  5. Another dumb move by that dumbasses Senate president and Governor. Can’t we just dig and cut California out?

    • Since the best liars reside in Government, why not use a lie to protect the kids…Post a sign at the entrance of all Cali Schools that says there are teachers and administrators on campus that are armed to protect innocent life. If they want plausible deniability, have muskets assigned to each protector. I am really amazed that the author of the legislation reasoned this abomination of a law out knowing what happened in Sandy Hook just a few short years ago. It made all the newspapers and 24 hour broadcast news reports. Did he actually think people are different in Cali than they are in CT?

  6. Some one had to be first. It seems the grand experiment will be conducted in California first. Being able to walk around in public with a strap on dildo, well fitted for public attire, on days the government gives them permission is more important. “Free” government supplied weed to anyone who wants it and sex acts in public on days the government gives them permission are more important than gun civil-rights. It will become the utopia for Libertarians, Liberals and the Left.

    • Texas is where the women are walking around waving didoes in public. Just sayin’.

CA is like the old south. It’s going to take federal troops to return it to the union.

    • Chris T in KY Wrote: “It (CA) will become the utopia for Libertarians, Liberals and the Left.

Chris, please don’t lump Libertarians in with Liberals and the Left. Libertarians support the 2nd amendment as a fundamental part of their political philosophy. The following is from their website under 1.0 Personal Liberty:

      1.9 Self-Defense
“The only legitimate use of force is in defense of individual rights—life, liberty, and justly acquired property—against aggression. This right inheres in the individual, who may agree to be aided by any other individual or group. We affirm the individual right recognized by the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms, and oppose the prosecution of individuals for exercising their rights of self-defense. Private property owners should be free to establish their own conditions regarding the presence of personal defense weapons on their own property. We oppose all laws at any level of government restricting, registering, or monitoring the ownership, manufacture, or transfer of firearms or ammunition.”

      • Chris will never accept any other explanation of Libertarian philosophy but his own. He’s been told dozens of time now that he’s categorically wrong about them, which he is. Doesn’t matter. He just simply out-right refuses delivery of reason and evidence in regards to them.

  7. Being a gun-carrying teacher myself, and with our today’s program being a school trip to a WW2 Jewish concentration camp, I’ve got to say that my heart goes out to all the about to become disarmed school staff and to about to become even less protected kids in California. The choice of disarming or breaking the law is a depressing one and I’m happy that I live in a country where anyone with a concealed carry permit can carry in schools.
Let’s hope that a miracle happens and the people of California regain their senses.

  8. what Gregory answered I didn’t know that a student can get paid $6214 in 1 month on the internet . read here

    • A little short sighted, since they will be rebuilding all new and shiny with your tax dollars.

  9. So now the Governor has made certain that we will never hear about a good guy with a gun stopping a school shooter in California

  10. Actually this new law is redundant as prior new laws make it illegal for Californians to carry guns concealed and the California Courts refuse to rule on the Constitutionality of “laws banning open carry” therefore making it illegal to carry at all in any way in California period despite the Scalia ruling against Washington D.C. Scalia is dead and gone and the disingenuous courts are simply giving his legacy and rulings the finger and getting away with it. So much for the Second Amendment or prior rulings by the Supreme Court. Its a Kangaroo Court and a mockery of established law and justice. What a joke.

    • The only joke here is you, crisco. I carry openly in CA and it’s perfectly legal. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a hunting or fishing license?

But, again, thank you for getting Trump elected and ensuring his second term is a shoe in.

      • I keep suggesting Cisco leave the Country as he obviously does not like it here nor does he the meaning of being an American, but he just keeps on with his Socialist drivel like the good little brainwashed idiot that he is. everybody who has a problem with the USA needs to leave, you are free to live somewhere else.

    • Actually, this new law isn’t redundant (just stupid and ineffective like ALL gun control laws ARE) and you cannot even cite the specific statute that allegedly banned open carry. An actual KKKommiefornia resident rebuked you, not to mention the fact that it’s still actually only a few coastal counties not handing out new CCWs and the rest of the state is effectively shall-issue, and the courts were already giving both McDonald and Heller the finger before Scalia died. The only joke here is you, crisco kid.

      As per usual.

  11. Now all the faculty that disagree with the removal of their individual rights can home-school themselves.

  12. Well, great. Now, if i would want to shoot up a school i would definetly go to california. If i would just like to live with all of my rights and with my children safe, happy and not indoctrinated beyond sanity… no thank you.

  13. Just what they need more Gun Free Zones. Hope the California Dept. of Education has plenty of body bags. Might be a good time to invest in a Body Bag Co.
