I’m not sure how I goofed, but I goofed when I described the Caracal 9C’s accuracy as ‘unimpressive’ and placed some blame on its ‘disappointing’ trigger. Ralph’s review shows that the Caracal 9C is more accurate than what I experienced and described in my own review . . .
Maybe I didn’t find its favorite ammo, or maybe I wasn’t using the proper trigger technique. Maybe I just sucked that day when it came to deliberate, slow-fire accuracy. Whatever it was, it’s clear to me that it was something I did that failed to explore the Caracal’s accuracy potential. Mea Culpa.
Based on my own errors, whatever they were, the Caracal deserves * * * 1/2 for accuracy and * * * *1/2 overall. A compact handgun this fast, reliable and comfortable deserves no less.
I agree with Ralph, Robert and Joe Grine; check the Caracal out for yourself, and buy one while they’re still cheap.
Dont feel bad:were all human, and with modern technology being what it is a shooter , barring factory defects, will always be less accurate than his piece.
I’ve come to find that most modern guns are Accurate. I think it has more to do with the shooter not the gun. Not that I’m saying your a bad shoot or anything just maybe you don’t shoot that gun as whale as others at lest right out the box. With a little practice I’m sure you could improve your Accuracy with. I certainly know there’s a few guns I suck at shooting IE revolvers.

I definitely want one when the funds become available. I love what Herr Bubits did with the Steyr M9 and I’m sure I’ll love the Caracal series too, though I’d probably get the F instead of the C. + 1/2 inch barrel length, + 1/2 inch grip length, and +3 mag capacity.

Just and FYI, but you *can* use F-mags in the C-series 🙂
I know, but the size difference is so small that I don’t see the point of the C model.
I have never put much faith in accuracy reviews that don’t use some type of fixed rest. For pistols something like a Hyskore Parallax Vise and for rifles a Hyskore DLX Rest each with a remote trigger if you’re trying to test the accuracy of the gun. There are numerous brands of rests.Without taking the human element out of it you are testing the operator’s accuracy more than the weapon.
That is not to say gun reviews are not worthwhile that don’t use that type of equipment. They are for a lot of things, just not accuracy.
vj, I completely understand your position but I still disagree with it. Guns were meant to be fired offhand. If it doesn’t shoot well from the hand, I don’t care what it does in the vice. YMMV.
When it comes to rifles, however, the picture changes. Most people will rest the rifle in some way, even when hunting, so I can see greater value to shooting a rifle with some type of assist.
Hey, Chris, don’t feel bad. When I have a bad day, people in the next county are in danger.
I won’t review a pistol after a single range session. I prefer two sessions with several days in between so I can think about it.

If it was not the exact same gun, I see it as entirely possible that both of you are right, as, at least in my experience, on any given day, with any make of ammunition, things can go wrong with any firearm.

Nearly any modern pistol should shoot that accurately. That’s less of an issue than whether or not the company will stand by its product. The perfect gun is the one you keep, and hand down to your children and grandchildren. Many of these Glock-a-likes will be out of production and unsupported before the tritium in their sights sees its first half life. Heh. Maybe that’s why the Caracal doesn’t offer night sights as an option.
I held one for the first time today. The ergonomics great. Price was only about $460. I want one.
