A number of ultra-reliable and deservedly popular S&W carry pistols are generously discounted at the moment, which is uncommon. We highly recommend all of these for personal defense and have linked to our reviews below.

Deal Alert: Discounts on Smith & Wesson Concealed Carry Guns

The S&W 642, one of America’s favorite .38s, complete with Crimson Trace lasergrips, is on sale at Brownells for $420 (MSRP: $699). According to Ralph, who reviewed the 642 for TTAG, “there will be peace in the Middle East before this revolver has a misfire. Expect ‘five for sure’ for another sixty years or more.” Highly recommended.

Also featuring Crimson Trace-integrated lasers, the M&P Bodyguards (both .38 Spl revolver and the .380 pistol) are on sale for $320. We’re fans of both Bodyguards (read the review here). The MSRPs on those are $539 and $449 respectively.

Last but certainly not least is one of America’s favorite carry pistols, the uber-popular M&P Shield. The M&P9 Shield M2.0 No Safety and the M&P9 Shield M2.0 Crimson Trace with Safety are each on sale for $350, both great deals (the MSRP is $500 and $480 respectively). We have reviewed the original Shield and several variants and have been pleased with all of them.

The .40 Shield with no safety is also on sale for $370, and the .40 Shield with a safety is $310.

P.S.: This is a small selection of what seem to be the bigger price reductions. There are five pages of discounted S&Ws at Brownells now if you have time to browse.

  1. TTAG I would like to formally request a review of the TISUS BHP clone please. I’m anxiously awaiting. 😉

Ruger EC9 for $214…. how is Keltec staying in business? (I formerly owned a PF9 and currently have two LC9s’)

  2. I have bought only 2 S&W revolvers since they put the hitlery hole in them. One was a scandium model 340 357 mag that would only fire one shot before the lock would engage on its own turning the gun into a light weight rock to throw at the bad guy. Two of my friends that bought them had the same problems. The other is a 442 pro moon clip model without the lock that works perfect. I have spent a lot buying older non lock S&W revolvers on gun broker but I will never waste my money on a gun with a built in lock.

    • 642 carries great. Very unpleasant to shoot.

While incredibly true for target shooting, the 642 revolver’s unpleasantness should disappear in an actual self-defense situation.
