Michael, a business manager, goes with what works — a snubby in a DeSantis Sof-Tuk. And he carries a Ruger LCR, the snubby with maybe the best stock trigger in the wheel gun world. See what else he’s carrying at Everyday Carry.

    • crikey! its in .327 mag! I want one!

maybe when I move to Nevada, sigh…..

Edit: wrong again, they are on the CA approved list.

      • Buffalo bore 158 lead hollow point +p in the gun and remington golden sabre 125 +p for reloads. The rounded profile loads much faster than the squared lead bullets.

        • Nice with the golden sabers! They are the only thing I’ve seen work reliably in the online tests.

  1. i have a question here – is the lcr trigger different than the lcrx with the exposed hammer? i had an lcrx and its trigger wasn’t any better than my Smiths. I haven’tever tried a regular lcr, though.

    • I was told by my local gun shop that the LCRx trigger is different as it has to account for the hammer. Didn’t shoot the rental they had but they said it greatly improved after a couple hundred rounds.

  2. I miss my LCR. I sold it when I needed some money to help with a large unexpected expense. Great revolver. My only issue with it is being used to semi autos and using the trigger reset, the LCR has a point where the trigger clicks and feels like a semi reset, but if you immediately pull again instead of letting it out an additional eighth of an inch or so it will rotate the cylinder but skip firing the round.

      • Because this is TTAG, everyone is focused on the gun. The gun, the gun, the gun.

What is probably passing most people by is the fact that almost every one of these EDPD photos has had at least one “real knife” in the load.

        That’s good.

But have people trained with a knife?

There might be times when you need to know how to use a knife – and know how to use it well. From my experience on the streets of LA in the 80’s, when you pull out a good knife on a mugger, his mind back-peddles and he changes his behavior almost faster than if you pull out a gun. Knives get a visceral reaction from people, in ways that guns don’t, especially when you’re at bad-breath distances. I can’t explain it, or why, I have just noticed the reaction, and have used it to good effect.

The quality and utility of the good knives today is astonishing. All I had 30 years ago was the classic Buck knife. The knife I carry today can be opened with a flick of my wrist – so fast that all you see is a blur and hear a little “click.” The steel is 154 CM, and I can make it absurdly sharp.

Everyone should have a real knife on their person, and know how to use it. A man without a knife on his person is just a noisy, hairless ape.

        • Good, insightful input as always DG. So, in essence, you’re saying train with your knife and know when to use it.

        • When i was a kid my mom was more scared of me playing with a knife than with a gun, sayin, “unload that gun you’re safe, you cant unload a knife”.

In all seriousness, i think a knife is just scary, yknow, slow and messy and painful and as lethal as a gun within the blade’s reach.

I carry a Spartan Phrike, what a great knife

30 years back, like you, I had a basic Buck folder, when the modern ones started about 25 years back, I started carrying a utilitarian Spyderco clip-it in stainless. And still do.

At one time I had the ‘fear-factor’ Spyderco Civilian.

*Instant* intimidation. Never had the need to resort to it…

  3. Okay, what is the thing to the left of the phone?

And what is the beige thing in the top right corner? And the thing between it and the flashlight?
