Ruger’s quietly dropped the budget striker-fired SR9E — that cost $100 less than a “proper” SR9. Given that the similarly-sized hammer-fired Security-9 streets for a little less than the presumably defunct SR9E (c. $350), duh.
Still, I reckon ye olde SR9E matches well with Mike A’s black Carttiya Tactical Pen 3 in 1 Car Emergency Escape Tool Window Glass breaker with Premium Ballpoint Pen and Touch Screen Pen, don’t you?

CDNN still has them for a good price. It’s where I got my SR9c – great gun.
There’s no such thing as an SR9E, nimrod. It’s simply the 9E.
But if you don’t add “SR” most un-enlightened gunner have no idea what you’re talking about.
The SR’s and 9E never got much love from the Gun Press and is a great pistol.
The more compact size of the Security 9 will probably be a good thing for Ruger sales.

I just have a hard time hiding that long grip in/on my waistband.
SR9c for carry (or Glock 43, or LCR), SR9 for house and truck.
Hard to beat.
Gee I had a 9E on layaway but switched it. I think Ruger could have “saved” it with a 2nd magazine. Interested in the new Security 9 but less than enamored with the funky breakdown. Had a Taurus TCP and a Keltec PF9 which both had a really stupid takedown…GLOCK style for the win.
The classic 1911 has a funky takedown too and no one seems to mind…
Until I recently resolved to get a SR9c next, I was considering the Remington R51 as well – and it’s takedown is a pure PITA.
My thinking is: why would I ever be in a great hurry to take my gun apart? Is that not something I should be doing while peacefully seated at my work bench? So funky takedowns do not bother me.

Mind elaborating what is so challenging about the takedown of a PF9?
I got an SR9e six months ago and have not yet even fired it. Brand new with free shipping and no tax from a merchant using gunbroker.com. The price I paid was $246, and $20 to my FFL gunsmith for receiving it for me.
There’s one thing I don’t like in particular – the grip is fat and wide. And I had purchased a pachmayr rubber glove for the grip (before I had even received the gun) and it makes the grip even fatter. ‘Bought everything sight unseen, simply based on the great reviews it had gotten. So, I don’t know what I’m going to do with it. My everyday carry is a Kimber 1911.45 ACP 4″ barrel which is wonderful.
My wife is a tiny, petite thing and when I expressed my disappointment with the size of the grip, she disagreed. lol Go figure.
