    • Rubber banding or “ranger banding” tourniquets is a common practice when not using a holster for them.

Keeps the whole thing from unfurling and becoming a complete mess/undoing your careful packing job that lets you keep the TQ in a specific spot nicely folded up. Alternatively, if you’re slick about it you can rubber band the TQ to something and if you need it you just pull on it with a sharp, firm tug (this one does not start the flow of oxygen) and the bands break.

The alternative is to leave the TQ in the plastic it comes in which means that if you need it there’s a high percentage chance you can’t rapidly get it out of the packaging and actually use it.
