“The F.B.I. arrested the wife of the man who carried out a deadly terrorist attack in Orlando, Fla., and charged her with obstructing the investigation of the mass shooting,” nytimes.com reports. The move is hardly a surprise; the Fibbies interviewed Ms. Salman for hours in the attack’s immediate aftermath. Enough time has passed since then for her lawyer to craft a statement defending her client.

“Noor Salman had no foreknowledge nor could she predict what Omar Mateen intended to do that tragic night,” said her lawyer, Linda Moreno. “Noor has told her story of abuse at his hands. We believe it is misguided and wrong to prosecute her and that it dishonors the memories of the victims to punish an innocent person.”

That’s quite a stretch: equating Ms. Salman’s arrest to the unfathomable suffering caused by her husband’s actions. Especially when she recently revealed that she knew her husband watched jihadist videos. And accompanied him on a trip to Disneyworld that caused officials there to report the couple as terrorist scouts.

Clearly, Ms. Salman’s lawyer will attempt to portray her client as a woman cowed into silence by a fanatical and abusive husband. Yes, well, she wasn’t under lock and key. And when the stakes are that high, is subservience a sufficient excuse for silence?

As Edmund Burke said, the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Women too.

        • So what? Well this little thing called the bill of rights.

If you’re willing to give that up… then hey, I guess no more guns for you.

        • Not really, otherwise constitutional protections would apply. Trust me, you don’t want to establish a precedent of doing this to a US citizen. Obama already set the precedent of killing US citizens without any evidence of wrong-doing. Of course, he lied about the reason, but it still happened.

        • “Isn’t Gitmo a US prison?”

          My understanding is this:
It’s not in a state or territory of the US, but, being part of a US military base, is considered US soil.
Make of that what you will.

  1. Oh the irony… Tump is already living up to his election promises and he’s not even in office yet.

  2. “she recently revealed that she knew her husband watched jihadist videos. And accompanied him on a trip to Disneyworld that caused officials there to report the couple as terrorist scouts”

And she accompanied him when he bought the ammo he used to murder 49 people and injure 53 more. B!tch was in it up to her eyeballs.

    • My wife has watched me buy guns, and ammo by the case.
      So what?

Not saying this woman is innocent, just that knowing someone has guns & ammo isn’t a crime.

      • Has she also caught you choking the chicken to beheading videos?

That’s where I think the problem is.

  3. This woman was only arrested because they wanted to beat the Trump administration, before he had her arrested. If Obama had another year in office, this woman would still be free to travel where she pleases. Perhaps even out of the country.
It is a fact Obama was raised a Muslim in Indonesia. We will see if he comes out of the closet as a proud Muslim man, after he leaves office.
He is certainly a Muslim terrorist sympathizer.

    • I almost forgot.
Amazing how the wife of the man who murder 49 innocent homosexual people, can walk around free un molested in the sanctuary homosexual power city of San Francisco!??!?

It really explains how Kate Steinly was murdered by a 6 time, illegal alien felon who was free to roam the City by The Gays.
The city forced the last gun store in SF to close and then turned it into a pot dispensary.
I would say the gay community does not have the same priority for self defense, or self preservation that I do or most ordinary people do.

    • I’ve stuck my dick in crazy. But never a crazy blender.

Of course, if he was straight she’d be a perfect match for more dead soldiers. He’s a self radicalized jihadi wannabe.

  4. Whatever happened to spousal immunity? Unless she conspired with her husband to murder people, no one should be arresting her.

    • There is no such thing as spousal immunity. Spousal privilege, yes, but I doubt her husband will be compelled to testify against her.

      • Nor can she be compelled to testify against her husband, neither before nor after the fact.

Let’s be clear here. The failure was not Mrs. Spree Killer failing to call the police before he set out to murder anyone. The failure here is the husband who set out to murder people. The additional failure here is the nightclub patrons who were in public with no ability whatsoever to defend themselves.

Unless the husband said, “Go purchase some ammunition for me that I will use to murder a bunch of people.” and the wife then purchased the ammunition, government has no legitimate authority to prosecute her.

        • While she can’t be forced to testify against her husband, she can indeed be prosecuted for lying during an investigation.
It’s amazing how so many people screw up by lying instead of remaining silent.

  5. He was religious, she was not. She thought he was the whole package.

And yet she was surprised when he started beating her.

Y’know, there comes a time when one is forced to wonder just what it takes for women to rent a clue about their own security. I’ve seen women surprised again and again and again and again and again about how savage observant Muslim men can be. Western women taken overseas and then they find out that they have no rights, that they can leave the country, but without their children, etc.

There’s actually a 10-dollar word for the mental affliction of women who think that marrying observant Muslim men is going to be like marrying the Methodist boy across the street: Hybristophilia.

    • TTAG should have a WotD.

That said, wouldn’t that particular philia require them to know how bad the guy was to gain sexual pleasure from the experience? If they thought he’d be like the Methodist boy across the street wouldn’t that turn them off?

If you’re reasonably close to Cheyenne and do glass bedding I’ll have some work to throw your way this spring.

      • I’m in the northern tier of the state, about five hours north.

My point is, that they do know. There’s no shortage of information, just as there’s no doubt that Charlie Manson isn’t someone you want to take home to meet your parents.

They think they’re getting a dominate male.

Well, they are. They just don’t seem to realize that he’s not just going to dominate in the bedroom.

  6. free plane ride to Arabia she does not need to be here! Facilitates terrorist attacks on the US of A and then want’s to stay here, of course she would as she has a steady income from our Government! pretty Good, Import people to Kill us and then provide all the basic necessities for the rest of their life!

  7. What about the sanctity of marriage? Don’t her marriage vows keep her safe from prosacution?
A spouse has sworn to the other spouse and that is above the law.

    • No, marriage vows don’t provide such protection.

A married person has a privilege to not be forced to testify against their spouse. That’s it.

In this case, she can’t testify against him, because he’s dead. He’s not on trial here.

She is. Her actions, as developed in the complaint by the FBI, enabled, aided and abetted her husband. Her actions. He’s not testifying against her (because, once again, he’s dead) and she’s not being asked to testify against him. She’s on the hook for her actions and complicity in this.
