PERMITLESS CONCEALED-ONLY CARRY PASSES FLORIDA LEGISLATURE!

Permitless Concealed-Only Carry Headed To Governor Ron DeSantis’ Desk!

TALLAHASSEE FL – Good news! Permitless Concealed-Only Carry is on its way to Governor Ron DeSantis! The Florida State Senate passed their version of the bill, CS/HB-543 (CS/SB-150) today. Last week, the State House passed their version, HB-543.

This is good news. Yes, I know we all want real Constitutional Carry. And we’re not giving up on that fight, because I know you’re not giving up either. But in the end, while this isn’t the large leap we were promised, it is still a step in the right direction.

Let’s break down why this is a huge win. For years, Republicans refused to even bring up the idea of any pro-gun legislation that would repeal any restriction on carrying a firearm. They’ve been against Open Carry, Campus Carry, and Permitless Carry.

Due to the hard work of Gun Owners of America and more importantly, YOU, we went from RINOs not even hearing any pro-gun legislation to getting this passed. It took years of hard work, but it is paying off.

We’ve put enough pressure on the Republican Establishment and we’ve gotten a major win across the finish line. As soon as Governor DeSantis signs this into law, starting July 1, Floridians will no longer need a government permission slip to carry a firearm.

Let that sink in.

Anti-gun RINO Wilton Simpson, the previous Senate President who blocked Permitless Carry, will now be grumbling because he’s in charge of the FL Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services — the agency that issues carry permits — and he’ll have no way to control who can and can’t carry a firearm. He was one of the champions of the Parkland Gun Control bill. Now, he can’t push gun control by slow rolling the issuance of permits, which is something that the former office holder, Democrat Nikki Fried, also did.

No longer are we beholden to the government to protect ourselves.

Again, this isn’t everything that we have pushed for, but it is still a step in the right direction. Having the ability to have at least one method of carrying without the requirement of having a government issue permission slip is a good thing.

But this doesn’t mean that Gun Owners of America will just “take the win” as Rep. Chuck Brannan told gun owners earlier this session. We’re still going to push for Open Carry, Campus Carry, repealing Red Flag Laws, and repealing Gun Free Zones.

So, let’s keep up the good fight and make sure to keep the pressure on our legislators in Tallahassee. The next session is right around the corner and getting Permitless Concealed-Only Carry is just the first battle in the war to restore our Second Amendment rights in the “gunshine state.”

In Liberty,

Luis Valdes
Florida State Director
Gun Owners of America

  1. This is indeed a step in the right direction! What bothers me is that we have another anti-2nd amendment person in charge of the department responsible for issuing permits (for those who will still want to get/keep one). I miss Putnam.
Anyway, maybe the governor will stop by his office sometime soon to make a big deal about signing the legislation into law. Y’know, if it doesn’t interfere too much with his “not” campaigning presidential campaign.
I still wonder how much the legislature is holding over his head to change the resign to run law for him?

    • getting a Florida permit was expensive and a pain in the ass compared to getting one in PA…

  2. With all the senseless knee jerk Gun Control going on I needed some good news today and this is it. Added to the successful veto in NC yesterday it was two in a row for the 2A.

  3. FWIW…NC just got rid of it’s (Jim Crow era) “Pistol Purchase Permit” requirement today.

  4. The bill also applies to non-residents visiting/transiting FL.

    • Actually they are. Clever publicity has everyone believing Disney lost their clout in Florida. They actually still have it all.
Since Disney is still one of the biggest promoters of anti-family values with their groomer agenda, it’s only a matter of time before Florida goes the way of California…

      • Yeah, Disney sure has been working overtime to get the permitless carry bill passed. Surely. Overtime.

        • That was the voters of the state. The legislators and governor listened to the people. The governor reportedly has plans for higher office so it was crucial for his political future to get the bill passed.

      • That’s really not true at all FLwoman, look up what the DNC has done in Florida. They’ve abandoned the state. Florida is actually trending MORE red. Your info is 10 years out of date.

        • They lost the Hispanics in Miami-Dade, that leaves only Orlando/Disney as the “woke” epicenter of FL and a couple of counties in the Southwest still going blue, not enough to carry the state back to Blue or even Purple, Rubios reelection over EX-congressperson Val Demmings put the last nail in it… Republicans have a 400,000 vote edge and there is another 4,000,000 plus Independents many of whom along with a number of Dems voted Republican in the last election… DeSantis carried 62 of 67 counties and 60% of the vote…

      • it’s only a matter of time before Florida goes the way of California

Odds are not in your favor if you betting that will be the case… FL has been moving in exactly the opposite direction for over 20 years, last Dem governor was Lawton Chiles who died in office in 98. His Lt Governor was defeated by Jeb Bush and it’s been all Republican for the past 25 years with an asterisk for RINO Charlie Crist who was a registered Republican while he was Gov but switched parties after he left office… Historically prior to 98 FL had been under mostly Democrat leadership with only 5 Republicans serving since 1845… We’ve even managed to weed out some of the RINOs in the legislature…

      • No. He bent that mouse over and had his way with him. Disney lost all their political power.

      • No, but Disney did something with the Board of Governors that oversees it… Supposedly got some people on the Board that are more favorable to Disney…

  5. Now get rid of Passidomo, she’s the ONLY thing standing in the way of open carry, send them a message, YOU work for us… Term ends in 24, primary her and send her back to Naples…

  6. Incrementalism is how we get our rights back. The idea that it’s, “my way or no way” or “I’m taking my toys and going home”, will get you nowhere. This is not the 18th century. You don’t walk into someone’s business caring a long gun. And everybody thinks it’s normal. This is the 21st century and unfortunately we stopped teaching things to people, that would have normalized this act.

So now I have to start all over again. This is a great first step. And you guys almost didn’t have it, by 30,000 votes with Andrew Gillum!!!

I hope DeSantis stays as governor and continues to fortify Florida.

  7. what great news
Our government gives us permission to exercise a constitutional right.
Freedom Liberty and Injustice for all.
