California Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta held a press conference yesterday to boast about the state’s latest attacks on fundamental human rights. In response, the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) issued the following statement:

The State of California continues to seek new lows in its long-running campaign to assault fundamental human rights and the peaceable people who exercise them. This time, Gavin Newsom, who loves to issue mandates he himself doesn’t bother to follow, was joined by other elitist authoritarians to announce a new barrage of attacks on the rights to keep and bear arms and free speech, among others.

On Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced legislation aimed at letting private citizens file lawsuits to enforce a ban on assault weapons. The bill is modeled after a Texas law that lets private citizens enforce a ban on abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected. (AP Photo/Chris Carlson, File)

Newsom’s proposed policies are just modern-day Jim Crow laws designed to suppress the exercise of human rights, increase law enforcement encounters, and incarcerate for non-violent crimes the people that the tyrants who run California don’t like.

But Newsom and his gang of government thugs can’t stop the signal. It’s clear that Newsom is using the polarizing issue of unconstitutional and immoral gun control to distract from his growing mountain of failing policies and constant political embarrassments. However, if the state enacts these incredibly abusive policies, the Firearms Policy Coalition will not hesitate to act quickly and aggressively to protect the rights and property of gun owners.

  1. Of course they are. Fascism rules the left thanks to corporate billionaires buying the movement out. There is a new nazi party on the rise in America and it is championed by folks like dacian the nazi and miner49er.

      • if he thinks it is anything other than “government control of private means of production” he is wrong.

Government ownership and control of all means of production is communism. Its not that different, as the means of production in both cases is controlled by other than the owners.

        • Government control of private means of production can take a path other than direct: edicts, mandates, regulation, propaganda, subsidies.

If a business or organization accepts government funding, then government has control.

The only conclusion we can draw is that the US is a fascist nation; has been for quite a long time.

      • Viejo Torro, How does this grab ya?
        fascism
1often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control early instances of army fascism and brutality

You know like the so called Communist regimes use to and still do. But then none of them were really Communist. They were socialist dictatorships. Like Cuba, Venezuela, Eastern Europe (use to be) and the Soviet Union. You can also include RED CHINA.

  2. Not so sure how our idiot Governor and the Keystone Kops in Sacramento are going to successfully “deputize” Californians to infringe further on the 2A. This will be shut down pretty easily in court as just another unconstitutional act. Remember, most of the gun control measures enacted here over the past dozen years by the Dems have been declared unconstitutional at some point, and are still on the books only because they’re stuck in appeals purgatory.

      • I don’t get it. I never had a CCW in my life. Don’t need it. Anywhere. Really. At least anymore. But between 1982 and 1991 it was a felony for me to carry a Colt Series 70 Government Model .45 ACP concealed.
At least in some states. Fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke. I did it anyway.
Well, there was a couple of times in NY and other places people may have become upset. I wasn’t going to worry about that until it happened. Guys, I never didn’t exercise my 2A rights, no matter where I was, or what the local laws said. Those times I drove through all those states, I carried the firearms I intended to hunt with and those I’d fight with. I carried those I thought I might have to fight with. That 1911 in a Sparks Summer Special and a spare mag on the left hip was comforting in NJ.

    • Their plan is to pass a law similar to the Texas abortion law that allows private citizens to sue doctors for doing abortions. Only the focus of the California law will be on the Firearms Industry. Death by 1000 cuts financially with lawsuit after lawsuit. Much in the same vein as the suit against Remington for the Sandy Hook shootings. This is an older article, but it is the same thing as he is pushing now.

      • “Their plan is to pass a law similar to the Texas abortion law that allows private citizens to sue doctors for doing abortions.”

Texas should be encouraging someone to use the law, so that appeals can be filed soon, and the courts strike down the law. Such would choke-off copycat laws directed at gun owners and the firearms industry.

        • Abbott opened a Pandora’s Box signing that law. Then the SCOTUS didn’t immediately squash it. I expect multiple states to use this model of law to control the populace. I don’t fault Cali for following the lead Abbott created, they had to know that they were going to fuck things up.

        • There is not part of the BofR protecting infanticide. There IS A SECOND Amendment however. FU Nitwit Newsome

        • This has already occured with two different cases, interestingly enough, by out of state abortion advocates.

    • Answer for your friend…Gun Control laws and schemes do let white people feel a tiny bit like Black Americans felt during Jim Crow when the Gun Control military wing of the democRat Party terrorized the homes of Blacks and confiscated firearms, etc. The big difference is the majority of whites do not wind up flocking to the party of their oppressors like gullible Black Americans did.

Frankly…Based the long horrific history of race based atrocities attributed to the democRat Party a Black American belonging to the democRat Party makes as much sense as a Jew belonging to the nazi party.

    • “Since these are Jim Crow laws, they wont affect white people?”

Not the rich ones, generally, no.

But more directly, control was a Jim Crow creation, to keep black people from having guns. You want to see racism in US history? GUN CONTROL is one of the best examples.

  3. More dems are the real racists :/

This is a losing strategy. You’ll never win by playing by the left’s rules and accepting the left’s moral premise.

    • Tell me more about the Left’s moral premise. What is it, exactly?

And I assume you think yours is different. What is *your* moral premise, exactly, and how will it increase freedom for everyone?

  4. It truly doesn’t matter if gun control laws are Jim Crow. The left captured the term, and have the power of the limited information voter behind them. (As well as the almost exclusive power of the press)

We can be correct in excoriating the left and Dims about Jim Crow gun control laws, but who hears? Who cares? If you tell a Dimmy, one-on-one, that gun control is targeting minorities, the Dimmy will tell you that things are different now, gun control is for the benefit of minorities. Just like Planned Parenthood isn’t about eliminating minorities.

  5. Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision allowing Texas’s ban on most abortion services to remain in place, Governor Newsom directed his Administration to work with the Legislature to propose a measure like the bill that will be introduced by Senator Robert Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) today, modeled on the structure of Texas’s abortion law. The bill would allow private citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, transports, imports into the state or sells assault weapons, .50 BMG rifles, ghost guns, or ghost gun kits.

“In a just world, a woman’s right to choose would be sacrosanct, and California’s people would be protected from ghost guns and assault weapons. Sadly, a misguided Supreme Court decision has turned common sense on its head. With this bill, we take advantage of the Court’s flawed logic to protect all Californians and save lives,” said Senator Hertzberg.

  6. What about PLCAA? Is it a federal law or not?
In theory shouldn’t the US DOJ bring a case against California for breaking a federal law?

  7. “What about PLCAA? Is it a federal law or not?”

An understandable confusion. PLCAA is about product. The Sandy Hook plaintiffs attacked marketing and advertising, covered under law different and distinct from PLCAA.

      • One of the first rules about lawyering is this:
NEVER go after small pockets. ONLY large dee ones”. Since Remington ARms Corporatiin did not exist anymore at the time of this judgement, only the insurnce companies remained. I’d have mounted a defense on grounds that the plaintiffs are suing the wrong entities. The Bankruptcy court mat have erred in allowing this action to proceed and fleecing the insurance companes without a full trial of Remington, no longer existing. Remington’s “violatioin” of the imagined rules was never proven.

        • “Remington’s “violatioin” of the imagined rules was never proven.”

So a settlement with insurance companies cannot be declared a precedent, right? (no trial, no verdict)

  8. The whole mess is because the idiots in California are using a law limiting abortion to go after firearms. OK, can anyone point out where in the Constitution, or in the Bill of Rights that the right to kill an unborn child is written? We know where the right to keep and bear arms is written.
Next issue is prove up on how any of the crap gun control laws, regulations, bans and the rest of the legislative gymnastics has or ever can protect anyone from the violent actions of another person. Please, show the world how more laws against the, what is now, legal ownership of any firearms or other arms is somehow going to make anyone but the criminals and would be tyrants safer.

  9. “OK, can anyone point out where in the Constitution, or in the Bill of Rights that the right to kill an unborn child is written?”

    Might consult amendments 4, 9 and 10. (and 14th?)

Interpreting the 4th (as the SC did) as right to privacy of person, the 9th and 10th declare not all natural, human and civil rights are listed in the constitution or the amendments.

The SC had to accept that human life does not begin at conception, that the fetus is a ball of cells, property of the woman, in order to get around endorsing murder of a human.

    • Too bad you weren’t aborted

Suing Texas to end the abortion law as a fight against California modeling a “similar” law for guns is dumb. Just sue California over the gun law FPC since you focus on guns *supposedly*

  10. “Suing Texas to end the abortion law as a fight against California modeling a “similar” law for guns is dumb. ”

Always enjoy setting the stage for low information voters to say stupid things for everyone to read, see, hear.

Have a look at a dictionary. You will find that “explanation” and “endorsement” are entirely different words. I am well aware, however, that some people will stumble across the truth, pick themselves up, dust off their clothes, and carry on as if nothing happened.

Thanx for the update. Will add some Texas news outlets to my online surfing.
