Barely six months into his latest job as Miami Police Chief, the rabidly anti-gun media hog Art Acevedo finds himself looking for another new gig. His pending termination serves as the latest of a number of scandals that have followed him throughout his career.

WSVN has the breaking report:

City of Miami Manager Art Noriega said he has suspended embattled Police Chief Art Acevedo “with the intent to terminate his employment.”

Noriega issued the statement concerning his decision on Monday evening.

“Relationships between employers and employees come down to fit and leadership style, and unfortunately, Chief Acevedo is not the right fit for this organization,” Noriega wrote in his statement.

While Noriega’s statement was couched in polite diplomacy, one of the city’s commissioners was more forthcoming. Also from WSVN:

Monday night, City Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla issued a statement on the matter that reads, “The natural outcome of an arrogant and dishonest police chief was that he would be dismissed. His bad actions speak for themselves. Our city, our police officers and our residents will be better off as a result.”

People of the gun will remember Acevedo for his relentless attacks on the right of the average citizen to own and carry guns for self-defense. Instead of blaming violent criminals for crime, he likes to blame the tools they use…and, of course, the National Rifle Association.

Controversy has followed Acevedo from California, to Austin, to Houston to Miami. Wikipedia has a list of the multiple scandals involving soon-to-be-former chief, including ones for which he was disciplined. Where will this hyper-politicized aspiring gun-grabber land next?

  1. These anti-Constitution Democrats keep surfacing like turds in Society’s punch bowl.

I guess his next step is the U.S. Senate…!

    • Old Guy in Montana,

I think his next step will either be “Firearm Confiscation Czar” for the Biden Administration (narrowly edging out Beta-male O-Rourke for the position) or ATF Director now that David Chipman is no longer in the running.

  2. “Not the right fit” is a wishy-washy excuse that avoids laying blame on the guilty party whomever it might be. “Arrogant”, “dishonest” and “bad actions” leave no doubt whom Portilla blames. I hope his condemnation cripples Acevedo’s hopes for future employment.

    • More likely a new Giffords lobbyist. He and Chipman should get along unless that much ego clashes.

  3. I’m sure as all the real cops flee Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Chicago, etc… there will plenty of job offers for a guy like him.

Questionable canoodling with subordinates is a plus to these people. Throw in a drug or drinking problem and he could be governor one day.

    • Seattle is looking for a permanent chief and the King county council can now choose their own subordinate sheriff to fall in line with the prosecutor that doesn’t prosecute and all without a citizen vote. Perfect fit for Acevedo.

  4. He should send his resume to Portland. He might be a good fit there. Or perhaps Seattle or Chikybo.

  5. Head up to NJ Art A!
That sh!thole will welcome you with open arms. You’ll feel like you died and went to heaven turd! You should enjoy circling the bowl up there.

On a serious note; Thanks for the great work in H town you 🤡.
I find classic firearm deals everywhere when I’m hitting the Houston/Austin FFLs.
All those “bad” firearms are welcome in REAL Texas. 😄

  6. Fired is nice, prosecuted would be even better:

18 U.S. Code § 242 – Deprivation of rights under color of law
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

  7. I guess that poor Art Avocado was spread too thin. Or maybe he was just too green for the job. Either way, he’s the pits.

  8. I never knew he started in CA., but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, since so many Californians have moved to Austin. When he moved to Houston, I thought he was just ascending the pay scale ladder, but apparently there was more to it than that. Good riddance.

  9. When he was Chief in Austin his cops called him Assholeveda. He didn’t change at any of the other jobs.

  10. One of the main reason why I wouldn’t live in a democratic runed part of Florida. They keep fucking up their hell holes and make it worst for the rest of the state.

  11. Que the officers who worked under him to complain about what a shit bag he was but not actually do anything about it. Like resign or tell him where to stick it with his policies.

Hate to agree with the Libs and Progressives but the Police will come for your guns and they will follow orders.

Those with the back the blue on your truck / Prius who exactly do you think they will send for your guns?

    • Youu haven’t been paying attention. HPD is suffering from a huge staffing shortage because so many officers resigned under Acevedo.

      • At least that’s a better option then several DPD officers got a few years ago. The ex-chief (lowercase intentionally) didn’t want to send LE to a Dallas “mostly peaceful” demonstration equipped with helmets/shields/body armor/rifles.
Because, it wouldn’t “look” good in the media coverage. Five were killed.

At least they didn’t look imposing in the media coverage before getting gunned down.
Because that’s what matters most dontchaknow.

        • That was in 2016. That demonstration wasn’t “mostly peaceful”, it was an actually peaceful march. There was none of the rioting or other actions that we’ve seen with the more recent BLM/Antifa protests.
Those officers were targeted as “payback” according to the shooter himself. He shot most of them with a rifle from an elevated position, and out maneuvered the others. It was almost all on camera. It had nothing to do with a lack of riot gear.

        • I spoke with several DPD officers shortly after the incident (my FFL at the time was a favorite of DPD LEOs, and Colion Nior, M.O.).
There was word that the “march” could turn violent, many offices wanted more gear, were ORDERED not to.

        • But the march didn’t turn violent. It was someone who wasn’t part of the march that did the shooting. Riot gear would not have saved anyone. In fact, if there wasn’t the high police presence, as the chief suggested, there wouldn’t have been so many targets of opportunity for the shooter. Again, he said specifically that he was going to the event because there would be lots of cops there and he wanted to shoot lots cops as revenge.

  12. In Houston our police officers union opposed constitutional carry. Im not a cop hater but why are we backing them if they actively oppose our rights?
