[I]f Barrett wins Senate confirmation, the court’s approach to the Second Amendment could be in for a big shift.

Kris Brown, president of Brady United Against Gun Violence, said she has “grave concerns” about that prospect.

“There’s a whole host of public safety bills and laws that we’ve had in effect for a quarter century, including the Brady background check system, that we are concerned about with her on the court,” Brown said.

Brown isn’t just speculating.

In 2019, in a case before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Barrett laid out her thinking about gun rights. UCLA law professor Adam Winkler, who wrote a book about Second Amendment jurisprudence called Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms in America, took note.

“The opinion is very revelatory,” Winkler said. “It really shows that she has a very expansive view of gun rights, likely one even broader than Justice Antonin Scalia.”

  1. Democrats think rights are bad and don’t like to be called on their bullshit reasoning.
    Who’da thunkit?

    • Oh, the Karen doesn’t like ACB.
All the more reason to get ACB seated.
When is the Senate going to vote, they have enough votes already. Get the job done while the dimocraps play their kabuki theater BS.
      Com’on man, elections have consequences.
      Trump/Pence 2020.

      • “All the more reason to get ACB seated.”

Yep, and another reason to get Trump elected would be to watch the lib heads explode. 2016 will look mild by comparison.

        • 2016 will look mild by comparison.

Yes, there will be a GREAT wailing and gnashing of teeth as thousands (millions?) of heads explode at the instant that reality finally sets in that even by “cheating” with all those “found” Biden votes a week after the election they still won’t have enough to win…

        • “Second Amendment Groups Find Jim Crow Gun Control Joe Biden’s View Of The Constitution…Sick.”
So, can we put you down as a “no” vote for the slow joe/sticky hoe show come November? Wow, say that 3 times fast.
Remember, they have YET to state they WILL pack the Supreme Court.
Sure they can’t change your mind? 🤣
          Trump/Pence 2020! Shout it from the mountaintop,…. Trump/Pence 2020!
          TDS to follow shortly……

          • they have YET to state they WILL pack the Supreme Court.

No, Joe said it, he just used strangely different wording… “If I answered that question it would be ALL your headlines by tomorrow”… on a scale of 1 to 10 with one being “No, I won’t pack the court” and ten being “C’mon man, HELL yes I’ll pack that sucker” Joes reply was a 9.8….

        • I should have clarified, yet to own up to SC packing during a debate. Just playing to the uniformed sheeple.
Yeah, slowjoe/skankhoe have owned MANY radical positions that they’re SUDDENLY not CLAIMING to support during the run-up to the election. Lying, it’s what dimtards do best.
          Trump/Pence 2020! Live long…. AND prosper!

    • “don’t like to be called on their bullshit reasoning”

They also think they can control the weather. They said we wouldn’t have any fires or hurricanes if only we had signed the Paris Climate Agreement. In the same breath they berate you for not following the science. They would never get away with such absurd claims if we had an honest media.

      • Dude: “Honest Media?” What an earth-shattering idea! Maybe after his Re-Election explodes about 43% of the talking heads. President DJT can work on it, after draining the Swamp, re-opening after the china flu, eliminating the Fed, paying the national debt, getting Space Force going, and exposing the self-destructive “welfare mind” in his sixth or seventh term; he’ll have time. He needs US to do our part, even more than we need him! Conservative Tsunami 2020, 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036.

      • “They said we wouldn’t have any fires or hurricanes if only we had signed the Paris Climate Agreement.“

You used the mythical ‘they’ because no one claimed this and you have no specific name to attach to your assertion.

Meanwhile, the 30th named storm of the season is lashing the gulf coast as we speak.

        • Haha! You pretend like that isn’t true right before you continue that exact same insinuation. Perhaps you missed the presidential debate when Biden implied the fix for extreme weather would be to join the Paris Accords? This is one example of many. “They” are the democrats and the media, as you well know.

        • the 30th named storm of the season is lashing the gulf coast as we speak.

Not the 1st time won’t be the last, most named storms this year floundered harmlessly in the middle of the Atlantic.. It is the second most active Atlantic hurricane season on record, tied with the 1933 (yes nineteen thirty three… 87 years ago… before SUVs and WAY before anyone ever heard of GLOBAL WARMING)…. Atlantic hurricane season, and behind only the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season… FYI… Hurricane Delta is the 10th NAMED storm (NOT all were hurricanes) to landfall in the mainland United States during the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, breaking a record that has stood for more than a century (Yes that record (9) was set in 1916 … 204 years ago).. Category two storms are normally no big deal unless they are extremely slow moving or (as in this case) two storms landing back to back in the same area in a short period of time…

        • You claimed:

“They said we wouldn’t have any fires or hurricanes if only we had signed the Paris Climate Agreement.“

But you still don’t say who ‘they’ are or post a quote to support your assertion.

          Got it. Empty speech.

        • “ …implies four more years of Trump means more wildfires, floods, and super storms.”

Is not the same as what you claimed:

“They said we’d have four more years of wildfires, floods, and super storms.”

          ‘said’ vs ‘implied’

The Trump administration’s intentional blindness regarding the effects of climate change without a doubt, will lead to increased frequency and intensity of storms, droughts, and other catastrophic weather events as the atmosphere and oceans store more energy from the sun.

When you add more energy to a system, you increase the frequency and intensity of catastrophic events.

Many people scoff, claiming “how could raising the oceans temperature just 1° change anything?

But when you consider the energy that must be added to raise the temperature of trillions of gallons of sea water 1° you begin to understand how much energy is being accumulated in the system as a result of elevated global temperatures.

It’s not that we’ve never seen these catastrophic storms before, it’s that they are happening more frequently now as the energy in the system is elevated by efficient accumulation and retention of solar energy.

          • Meanwhile, the 30th named storm of the season is lashing the gulf coast as we speak.

Actually there were only 21 “named” storms and this was number four on the Greek Alphabet list….

    • I’ve posted this here before, but when I was a young boy I stuck my finger in a light socket and it was a learning experience. The difference between Liberals and conservatives is the lesson they learn. Liberals learn all light sockets are bad, conservatives learn not to stick thier finger in a light socket.

    • This is music to my ears, the time has come. I thought my freedoms were going to be extinct and my guns criminalized . Its time to challenge all gun laws. FREEDOM (Brave heart)

  2. But .. But..But.. The Constitution is a living breathing document subject to the winds of progressive thought. (Sarcasm.)

  3. Or as Mr. Scalia put it.

The Constitution says what it says, and doesn’t say what it doesn’t say.

  4. The hope is she becomes that final vote needed to apply Strict Scrutiny to Second Amendment cases. That will be a good thing.

    Confirmation so far appears certain.

    • enuf…Cease with the BS. If left up to you hilliary rotten clintoon would be POTUS. You live your days off the efforts and the sweat of others who got DJT elected POTUS. You boasted about buying Guns and Ammo while you back stab the Second Amendment and its true supporters. No matter what you say or do at the end of the day your vote goes to biden/harris just like your vote went to hilliary rotten clintoon. You have nothing whatsoever on DJT but the concocted slander and libelous excrement that flows from the anus directly below your nose.

      • Well you know, it’s not slander if it’s true.

But of course, you won’t let the facts interfere with your opinion.

“The record before us is laced with hyperbole, contradictions and generalities,” then-New Jersey Casino Control Commission member Valerie Armstrong said in a 1988 hearing over Trump’s bid to take over Atlantic City’s Taj Mahal. Inconsistencies in Trump’s testimony, Armstrong said, “make it difficult to evaluate adequately the licensee’s fitness for licensure.”

“ … records gathered over four months by the USA TODAY Network shine light on an era marked by battles with regulators who often doubted statements by Trump yet allowed him to keep operating. The review also found Trump’s casinos repeatedly broke state rules, leading to more than a million dollars in fines. The most egregious rule-breaking centered on the casinos’ illicit efforts to cater to high rollers and last-ditch maneuvers to stave off the financial collapse ahead.”

“A $450,000 fine against the Plaza in 1991 for giving a high roller $1.6 million under the guise of three Ferraris, three Rolls-Royces, a Mercedes and two Bentleys — a failed attempt to evade a state ban against casinos giving gambling patrons cash.

Illicit loan: A $65,000 fine against Trump’s Castle in 1990 after Trump’s father illegally loaned the resort $3.5 million to save his son’s company from defaulting on an interest payment. One commissioner called it “the most unique singular action that has ever taken place out of tens of billions of dollars that have been moved around Atlantic City one way or another,” according to state records.”

“Then Trump financed the Taj with exactly what he promised he would not: $675 million in junk bonds at 14 percent interest, bankruptcy records show.
The Taj missed its first interest payment in 1990. Eleven months later, the casino filed for bankruptcy, and Trump gave up 50 percent of his ownership to bondholders in the restructuring deal.
In December 1990, as Trump’s Castle teetered toward missing an $18 million debt payment, the mogul’s father, Fred C. Trump, illegally loaned the casino $3.5 million by sending an attorney to buy gambling chips that were never used, according to state records. The family bailout broke state law because casino loans must follow strict procedures and come from approved financial sources. Trump’s father was not an approved source.
“We know that the people involved are not just the average run-of-the-mill employees in the house,” casino commission member Armstrong said at a 1991 hearing when the state decided to fine the casino $65,000, complaining the identities of some involved were kept secret. “This was something which happened, … people did it, people planned it, they carried it out, and we still don’t know who those people are.”

        • here is a list of 125 things Donald Trump has accomplished as President.

          1. Trump recently signed three bills to benefit Native people. One gives compensation to the Spokane tribe for loss of their lands in the mid-1900s, one funds Native language programs, and the third gives federal recognition to the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians in Montana.

          2. Trump finalized the creation of Space Force as our 6th Military branch.

          3. Trump signed a law to make cruelty to animals a federal felony so that animal abusers face tougher consequences.

          4. Violent crime has fallen every year he’s been in office after rising during the two years before he was elected.

          5. Trump signed a bill making CBD and Hemp legal.

          6. Trump’s EPA gave $100 million to fix the water infrastructure problem in Flint, Michigan.

          7. Under Trump’s leadership, in 2018 the U.S. surpassed Russia and Saudi Arabia to become the world’s largest producer of crude oil.

          8. Trump signed a law ending the gag orders on pharmacists that prevented them from sharing money-saving information.

          9. Trump signed the “Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act” (FOSTA), which includes the “Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act” (SESTA) which both give law enforcement and victims new tools to fight sex trafficking.

          10. Trump signed a bill to require airports to provide spaces for breastfeeding moms.

TTAG is going to hate me for posting all 125 of them so here is a link to the rest.

          https://frankreport.com/2020/04/18/one-hundred-twenty-five-amazing-accomplishments-of-president-donald-j-trump/

and Miner49er, as President of the USA for the last 4 years, has done _____________

  5. “Kris Brown, president of Brady United Against Gun Violence, said she has “grave concerns” about that prospect””

She and her ilk should be very afraid,as by the wording and intent of the 2 nd. amendment all and any form of gun control is un Constitutional,PERIOD,now is pearl clutching time.

  6. Almost like the Control Freaks are scared of an armed independently minded populace, Ain’t it?!

    • Almost? No, they are absolutely scared. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be doing their damnedest to disarm the entire country. The problem for them of course is the harder they try to disarm us the more guns and ammo we buy. Action->Reaction. Newtons 3rd Law at work.

      • Hahahahaha!
        Yeah, ain’t it great!
I wouldn’t own over 3/4 of my firearm and ammo collection if it wasn’t for the democRats always talking about wanting to take it.
        Trump/Pence 2020

  7. It’s not expansive, it’s more like originalist.

Rights like self defense aren’t granted, they’re recognized (or not) as preexisting.

  8. I’ll believe it when I see it. When it comes to guns the Supreme Court, of late, has been nothing like what pro 2nd people want or dems fear.

I remember when Heller came out a lot of gun folks were bitching about how weak sauce it was (because Scalia watered it down to get 5 votes). Well, aside from cases directly arising from it I can’t think of any other major pro-2nd decisions.

  9. Just think how much money could go to other things when the BATFE looses the f and the e. The firearms division could be one person in a little tiny office. When the only law is ” shall not be infringed ” there won’t be much to do.

    • Why should Alcohol and Tobacco continue to suffer under this unconstitutional bureaucracy? The the BATFE altogether along with about 100 other alphabet soup agencies.

  10. I must be a lunatic. Is something wrong with me for not fearing people I don’t know who have guns? We could never do WW2 again. This is the fall of the Roman Empire. Right here, in our lifetimes

  11. Lefty also knows it doesnt really matter what Barrett thinks because when Biden/Harris take office they’ll add 2 or maybe 4 new USSC justices to tip the balance back to them, then the ballgame is over.

    Hey Roberts – GFY

  12. The NPR article linked to is so full of crap it’s hard to know where to start.

But: ” background checks stop felons from getting guns”? Really? Coulda fooled me.

    • NPR article states ” background checks stop felons from getting guns”?
Seems like they know something that’s not being disclosed in this article.
Is the NPR running a side hustle providing guns to felons?
      Trump/Pence 2020….and ACB FTW!
      Enjoy the TDS dimtards.

      • I don’t know how that Brady Bunch idiot can say that with a straight face. Upwards of 150,000 guns are stolen every year from homes, cars, FFl’s, shippers, cops, military, you name it. Then there’s thousands that are smuggled in from Mexico, Canada, and other countries. But according to him, UBC’s would prevent all of that. Yeah, right.

        • ” I don’t know how that Brady Bunch idiot can say that with a straight face ”

That’s the most dangerous thing about those lefties… they genuinely believe their own bullshit.

  13. Wow better than Scalia?!? Let’s hope so. Once again not holding my breath. I wish her long life & great outcome!

  14. Gun Control Groups Find Amy Coney Barrett’s Originalist View of the Constitution…Disturbing

Hold on, I’m getting my “shocked” face out of storage….. NOT, this is no surprise, EVERYONE on the “other” side has some kind of problem with Barrett, Hell that’s what I love most about her, she’ll keep their panties bunched up for years…..

  15. Hey Kris Brown, I find gun control groups offensive. They’re ALL run by racist, Jim Crow Dimtards.
Don’t go away mad Karen, just go away!
    Trump/Pence 2020 FTW.

  16. the hypocrisy and sleight-of-hand of the left never ceases to amaze me.

“There’s a whole host of public safety bills and laws that we’ve had in effect for a quarter century,”

no shit?!? how about 158 years (1776-1934) of the unquestioned right to own whatevertheF you want, including cannon, gatling guns, sawed off shotguns, machine pistols with detachable stocks, dynamite, anything???

or 192 years of the unquestioned right to import the aforementioned (with ammo) from any country in the world?

or 210 years of the unquestioned right to own a fully automatic assault rifle?

does he want to take those into account? of course not! because if so, he would have to agree that all these gun laws are illegal and unconstitutional, including the bullshit he wants to pile on top of the last 25 years of bullshit.

land of the free, home of the brave! NOW if you want to be free you are going to have to be brave! vote like your freedom depends on it!

    MAGA TRUMP 2020

    NOV. 3 IS THE DAY

  17. Public safety laws? How these people handled the civil unjust this summer showed they have no vested interest in public safety. Defund/abolish the police and CHAZ come to mind.

Want to improve public safety? Empower and trust the public to keep itself safe, because when political bias determines whether or not they tie the hands of law enforcement during riots, mob rule, perpetuated by their voter base, becomes law.

    Free Kyle btw.

  18. The left likes to change the rules of the game to suit themselves. The USC is a big rulebook that they take exception to most of. Once they have complete control a New Constitution will emerge that will be something event Lenin and Stalin would be ashamed of.

    • Even if The USC were to be abolished or replaced with something of which even “Lenin and Stalin would be ashamed”; our unalienable rights would still exist. Government would not, however, be constrained by law from violating them. It would, therefor, devolve upon the People to secure them by force of law or force of arms.

  19. “It really shows that she has a very expansive view of gun rights, likely one even broader than Justice Antonin Scalia.”

    I think…I’m in LOVE!

  20. As a lawyer I hate it when people read the plain language of the Constitution and understand what it means. Next thing you know the people want fair trials and one set of laws applied equally to everyone. Then they will want honest representational government. It’s the path to madness.

  21. Yes, the guns for even violent felons is a very interesting aspect.

“Barrett concluded in Kanter v. Barr that while the founders may have favored limiting gun rights for people posing a danger to society, a blanket ban on felons was not rooted in historical precedent or writings.
Amy Coney Barrett's record of advocating for limits to abortion rights
Amy Coney Barrett’s record of advocating for limits to abortion rights
“History is consistent with common sense: it demonstrates that legislatures have the power to prohibit dangerous people from possessing guns,” she wrote, applying an originalist approach that looked to the 18th-century intentions. “But that power extends only to people who are dangerous. Founding legislatures did not strip felons of the right to bear arms simply because of their status as felons.”

That part about dangerous people is interesting, I wonder who she considers ‘dangerous’?

“History is consistent with common sense: it demonstrates that legislatures have the power to prohibit dangerous people from possessing guns,” she wrote”

    • they must have taken that right much more seriously back then!

how about those gatling guns? 45-70 at 550 rpm oooh yeah 🙂 🙂 🙂

      • “legislatures have the power to prohibit dangerous people from possessing guns,” she wrote”

        Smells like ‘red flag’ laws…

        • Beats the hell out of “I’m coming for ALL the guns” Biden.
Only a fool rejects the good, just because it falls short of perfection.
Trump/Pence (and their SC picks) in 2020!

    • You whiffed this one. ACB’s entire point, had you read the opinion, was that the government could ban violent felons from owning guns – but the ban on non-violent felons was on much shakier ground.

      • It depends on her definition of a ‘dangerous person’.

Is a husband who has threatened to kill his wife a dangerous person?

Is the person who made threats to kill the supervisor who fired him a dangerous person?

Is a person who owns many guns and publicly advocates that certain politician should be shot a dangerous person?

        • Moot point.
With the demoKKKRats in charge, and a lefttard packed SC, EVERYONE (not just those you listed) lose EVERYTHING. The left has admitted that this is their goal.
With Trump/Pence and SC choices like ACB, the 2nd A at least had a chance of resembling what it needs to. Any SANE person who argues otherwise is full of sh!t!
          Trump/Pence 2020

  22. Gun Control Groups WGAF!!!

She is going to be confirmed & in 2020 they lost the fight with millions of new gun owners who finally woke up & smelled the Right to Self Defense is on U not the magic POPO on ur shoulder….that libs hate!

The Libs/Dems/Leftist/Socialist/Commies use to say only the police should have guns.. NOW THEY SAY GET RID OF THE POPO…SO WHO IS LEFT TO PROTECT THEM!!??

CAN U SEE A PROBLEM WITH THAT DUMB ARGUMENT???????????????

  23. Could it be that Alito and Barrett will nuke most modern state and federal gun laws. Shall not be infringed means what we all thought it did. The horror!

  24. With ACB on the court, expect John “the weasle” Roberts to join in firearms decisions to make it 6-3.
Then he will assign the decision to himself, so he can water it down.
