Alberta man shot in stomach by unsecured truck rifle [not shown] cbc.ca proclaims. Wow. No wonder careful gun owners strap their firearms down or lock ’em up. Of course our neighbors to the north are hardly alone in this ballistic anthropomorphism. The U.S. media uses the phrase “a gun discharged” more than Tal Brodi says “no I don’t have a Facebook page.” In this case, the “RCMP in Three Hills says the 32-year-old was driving with the gun leaning against the passenger seat and pointing up. But as the man turned onto a different highway, the gun fired when it slid off the seat and struck something in the truck. The man from Wetaskiwin, Alta., required surgery and is in stable condition in hospital. Police say the man will be charged with careless use of a firearm.” Technically, the unnamed Wetaskiwinian didn’t “use” the gun. But point taken. Let’s hope our Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day has a full recovery even as he realizes that his gun rights—such as they are in The True North—won’t.

  1. In Canada, starting the engine while the gun had a mag attached (or rounds in a fixed mag or tube), let alone a round in the chamber, is already a crime.

    • Correction: having a loaded firearm in or on a vehicle is an offense in Canada. Doesn’t matter if it’s running or not.

    • More specificaly the bikini and M-16 clad ladies of the Israeli Defense Forces.

I could die happy on an Israeli military base. Even if I died alone. Well until Hillary Clinton walked in, since she is the poster boy of the seize fire on all the US MSM

  2. This bozo really ruins it for all other firearm owners in Canada. The mandatory safety course usually helps but sometimes you just can’t fix stupid.

  3. It’s against the law to “…transport a loaded long gun or shotgun in a vehicle…” in Massachusetts too. Imagine that…

  4. obviously an idiot trying to get canadian gun laws changed and willing to shoot himself to do it!!! LOL that guy didn’t employ or remember his mandatory canadian firearms training,… never load a gun until you are ready to shoot or until you have a concealed carry permit you FOOL!!!******maybe he was ready to shoot? maybe he’s one of those guys that illegally hunts shooting from his truck? ********
anyway, there is no maybe about the fact that this was not an “accident” or anything similar. this was negligence and failure to follow safety rules that protect a$$holes like him and responsible people like most of the rest of us.
