It appears that Democrats have adopted the Behar approach to electoral success.

“Even in a Democratic presidential primary, every candidate who campaigned primarily on extreme gun ban platforms has been rejected,” Catherine Mortensen, an NRA spokesperson, told the Free Beacon. “While the remaining candidates and their media allies may try and sweep this issue under the rug, rest assured the NRA knows that they share those same out-of-the-mainstream views and we will appropriately inform all voters.”

Free Beacon review of cable news interviews confirmed that mentions of gun control have declined. In the time between former candidate Beto O’Rourke’s pivot to gun confiscation and the end of his campaign, the terms “gun control” and “gun safety” were mentioned an average of 19 times per day. In the time between the end of O’Rourke’s campaign and the November Democratic debate, they were only mentioned seven times per day on average.

The nearly three-fold drop in discussion of the gun issue on cable news coincides with a drop in candidates mentioning it during interviews. Candidates were four times more likely to mention guns during cable news interviews between the mass shooting in El Paso on August 3 and the last day of O’Rourke’s campaign on October 31. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D., Minn.), billionaire Tom Steyer, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) were the only candidates who mentioned guns in cable news interviews after O’Rourke dropped out.

    • I was surprised to see them doing just that, (Chicago cemetery), in the movie “Irishman”. After denying for years, it’s now a no-big-deal-everyone-knew thing.

      • It often goes that way. Today’s “tin foil conspiracy” will be tomorrow’s “everybody knows that”.

Just look at how everyone scoffed when we said Big Tech is spying on us through our phones, or how nobody’s coming to get your guns…

      • I’m trying to get through that movie right now in fact. Ugh. For me it’s the same three guys doing the same thing they always do just slower.

The corruption of those days seems almost simplistic compared to the things that go on today with all the technology available.

  1. Who wants purposely to vote for the party of slavery racism anti Constitution anti Freedom and Liberty,I think Not, Ever.

    • I think my State of California welcomes your challenge. We have a plethora of FSA Lefties here that make the lives of conservatives an uphill battle.

    • There are a lot of people who either can’t see or won’t see it. Willfull ignorance is the norm.

      • That and:
“This won’t apply to me, I’m special”
        or
“That couldn’t happen here, we’re special.”
        or
“This time it’ll work because we’re smarter.”

Lots of good excuses to shred liberty, destroy a nation and enslave a people. All self-centered and mired in fantasy but we’re so far removed from reality now what with calls for self-segregation, book-burning in the name of tolerance, claims of 75 genders, and marrying anime waifu’s I’m not surprised by anything people do anymore or how they rationalize their insanity.

        • Waiting on the lawsuits for our civil service not recognizing people who identify as (insert ridiculous description here). Figure eventually one will be able to pass a test (or bother to show up) and find something to be offended about.

    • “Who wants purposely to vote for the party of slavery racism anti Constitution anti Freedom and Liberty,I think Not, Ever.”

Many on the right don’t seem to understand that this is exactly how the majority of rank-and-file leftist voters see them. Each side sees evil on the other.

This is a result of media propaganda and leftist lies, but it is there.

  2. It’s too early to answer this question. Let’s first see how SCOTUS rules on NYSRP v. NY next June. Then we’ll know just how the Dems will drive the crazy bus in the months running up to Nov 2020.

    • Your point is well taken but I hadn’t been given any reason to believe they had gotten off that bus at any point in the last 2 years.

      • LOL, I didn’t say they were ever off that bus. I simply said we’ll know how (which direction? how fast toward the cliff? how many hands trying to take the wheel?) they’ll be driving it.

  3. They haven’t figured out that running on “orange man bad”! platform is a loser, so the answer would be no! Stupid is as stupid does.🤪

  4. Somehow one has to figure out what sick frame of mind makes up todays Libitard Dimwit. How can any if they are even partially sane vote for a party that doesnt give a crap about people at all. All they care about is personal power and telling you how to live.
    Blumberger is a perfect example.
The more they mention gun control. The deeper the hole they dig for themselves. Just ask Al Gore. If you can find the loser of human being???

    • Blumberger is a perfect example.

He only apologized for stop=-and-frisk due to criticism for the NAACP; it certainly was not for some newfound appreciation for civil rights.

  5. as a resident of Virginia, i’m going with no. however the swing state voters of FL, WI, MI, PA, OH will probably say yes. it boils down to motivating your base in those states. period.

  6. Uhh, most of the shiny new Dem reps in VA campaigned on gun control, or had it as a plank in their stated and visible platform. Too bad the NRA couldn’t spend some money here in VA to counter the $2.6 million that Bloomberg spent to buy himself an anti-gun state assembly.

(also, I’d like to see discussed here on TTAG about the bill that was introduced in VA that will make most self defense classes illegal)

    • “(also, I’d like to see discussed here on TTAG about the bill that was introduced in VA that will make most self defense classes illegal)”

Is hiding in that ‘bill’ making self-defense *itself* illegal?

    • Not really sure about that “buying an anti-gun” slate. True, Bloomer pumped a lot of money in. But environmental groups pumped in more money than the anti- and pro-gunners combined. Just sayin’— it’s worth looking in to. Seems there was a lot more in play than just guns in VA.

  7. The question now is with Michael Bloomberg who’s going to swing farther on it than him? Why even bring it up unless you are him? I mean, he’s the godfather of gun control in this country currently and you’re not going to beat him in virtue signalling.

  8. Behar? Really? I nearly had a heart attack when that bitches picture popped up…. I just found something to add to my Thanksgiving list… NOT having to wake up to that horror show every morning…

  9. Operation Chaos….

Everybody join an anti-gun website, and sound like one of the faithful, encouraging candidates to talk more about gun control, or risk losing votes of the people depending on gun control to be widespread if anti-gun politicians win.

Create bots that make agitators seem like thousands of separate commenters.

  10. You could almost hear the collective forehead slap from the dem side after Beto’s “Hell yes” speech. And now we have creepy uncle Joe’s rambling speech about his leg hair.

    • You left out Bloomberg “We have to tax the POOR” .

The Billionaire wants to address “income inequality” .

      And he wants our firearms.

Only on ideology can survive. FREEDOM or Marxism.

      Say when.

  11. everyone in closed primary states needs to change party affiliation to Dem for the primaries, vote for Biden then switch back for the General.. Biden gets nominated falls on his ass tooo many times during General campaign and it’s over (I am NOT Russian or Ukraine trying to influence the American elections, and NOT a Macedonian “content farmer” either for sure)….

  12. Being a fiercely independent voter I have at times registered for a party expressly to vote in a primary for their weakest candidate, or for someone I truly wanted in a particular office. Have done both in Republican and Democrat primaries alike.

All primary voting should be on open ballots, never on party restricted ballots. If a voter wants to select from a slate of conservative candidates for one office but from a liberal slate for a different office, they should have that right. Political parties have vastly too much power over primary voting opportunities, it corrupts the rights of the people to select the candidates they want.

The article is a bit self-serving. I am far from convinced that the Democrats have realized their anti-gun stance this Presidential Silly Season is a mistake. Certainly they do to the Beto O’Rourke wack-a-doodle degree, but not in the lesser degrees of other candidates.

    • Bloomie is spending $37M on Super Tuesday ads. I’m betting gun control will be mention a few times, particularly AWB and UBC.

      • His ads are already running in LA county, they been saying something like “rebuild America” and there’s at least a few seconds of the commercial where his AstroTurf MDA/everytown people are on the screen

        • Has anyone figured out yet what he means by “rebuild America”? Is he planning to give Baltimore a new water system? They really need one.

  13. Doesn’t matter what they do or do not claim, demonRats will always push for more unconstitutional laws. They are the historical party of treason and can never be trusted. Anyone that votes for a democrat is a domestic enemy and should be treated accordingly.

  14. For leftists of any stripe, Soviet, Green, Bath,Democratic or whatever, it’s always about the party. Lying and deceit is acceptable if it advances the party agenda.

  15. While you are jumping for joy if you can read the Art of War you will find out. Fight, run, fight, diversion, fight, run, win. It’s all smoke and mirrors with all politicians. Fear not, trust not.

  16. Do they need a demonstration of the utility of the amendment before they realize America does not want radical leftist gun control?

  17. People want guns taken from those people, never themselves.
It’s those dirty people who don’t agree with them who must be conquered.

  18. Speaking of unwanted Commies,I see where Willie Browns willing willie receptacle just dropped out of the Commiecrat field today, back to the senate to frustrate Freedom with her.

  19. I’m envisioning the pro-gun (but not necessarily NRA, being that I don’t trust them to tie their own shoes at this point) election advertising. Don’t need to say anything, make any claims that can be challenged, cite any statistics that can be ignored:

    FADE IN on Beto O’Rourke
BO: “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15!”
    FADE OUT to TITLE:
TITLE TEXT: “Paid for by {gun rights org}”

    FADE IN on Kamala Harris:
KH: “Upon being elected, I will give the United States Congress a hundred days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws. If they fail to do it, then I will take executive action.”
    FADE OUT to TITLE:
TITLE TEXT: “Paid for by {gun rights org}”

    FADE IN on Joe Biden:
JB: “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.””
    FADE OUT to TITLE:
TITLE TEXT: “Paid for by {gun rights org}”

    FADE IN on Mike Bloomberg:
MB: “Well, if it can fire a lot of bullets very quickly, that’s a good definition… And then you can argue what a lot is, okay, let’s say three. If you haven’t hit the deer with three shots, you’re a pretty lousy shot, that deer deserves to get away.”
    FADE OUT to TITLE:
TITLE TEXT: “Paid for by {gun rights org}”

  20. Asking Democrats to stop running against guns is like asking them not to breathe. Which, incidentally, is something I support wholeheartedly.

  21. Waco,TX – President Clinton was not removed from office for attacking/murdering American citizens on American soil for the crimes of exercising their first and second amendment rights. Janet Reno did not go to prison or even lose her job for allowing it to happen. No one from the FBI or any of the other alphabet agencies went to prison. No Democrat running for any office has ever denounced the military action taken nor have they ever promised not to engage in similar actions. Eric Swalwell, former presidential nomination candidate and now quoted frequently for impeachment, threatened to nuke American citizens who refused to turn over their guns. But Robert O’Rourke saying “hell yes we’re going to take your guns” is supposed to be what woke the public up????

  22. Any celebration over the end of these campaigns is premature. If almost any of the other candidates get in they will try and do the same thing, they just won’t broadcast it first. I think Sanders may be the least likely to push gun control, given his statements and background in Vermont, but I don’t think he has any resolve to back up his Constitutional knowledge (i.e. that he doesn’t think it’s Constitutional to confiscate a.k.a mandatory buyback).

  23. AR owning, traditionally voting Democratic who will not vote for any gun grabbing Democrat now or in the future. Long live the Second Amendment.

    • Harris has dropped out the rest will soon, leaving only ???
Mr. Moneybags and the butler in the pantry with a green banana….

  24. Except for the occasional moron like Beto O’Rourke and Occasionally-Conscious most Demonrats,
while not being the sharpest and brightest, are at least cognizant enough of reality to keep their traps
shut and their plans secret. Doesn’t mean they don’t intend to do EVERYTHING they can to disarm us.
It just means they won’t talk about it. But NOBODY is allowed to run on the commie demonrat party
ticket unless they are FULLY ON BOARD with the communist agenda….and one of the MAIN goals
of their agenda is to DISARM US SO THEY CAN RULE US.
