 Accuracy International rifle at Best of the West Shooting Sports (courtesy The Truth About Guns)

The Truth About Guns passed the four-year mark on February 17. I guess I was a bit busy, what with writing posts, working on the Texas International Firearms Festival, taking care of my daughter and bemoaning the fact that my only chance at a date turned out to be a shill for some multi-level marketing misegos. Still, it’s important to take time out to celebrate important milestones. In the last year, TTAG has come of age. Again. Still. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve done here in that time. And by “we” I mean, Dan, Nick, Matt, Chris, Jeremy, Tyler, Dean, Michael, Ralph, Joe, Barry and the rest of TTAG’s revolving crew of first-class bloggers. And by “what we’ve done” I don’t just mean our burgeoning reader stats. I mean the truths that we’ve told about guns and gun control. Because we would have never achieved the former without the latter. In the year ahead – in the years ahead – look for more of the same. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to do that voodoo that we do.

    What are you most proud of in the time you devoted to ttag?

    What do you consider your biggest failure or the darkest hour, since starting ttag?

    What is one thing that ttag changed in your personal life, that was unexpected or would not have happened if ttag was the truth about gardening?

    What is your number one challenge that you hope will be conquered by and with ttag?

    • 1. In four years, TTAG will be doing the same thing it does now with a larger audience.
      2. I am most proud of finding and nurturing such a talented and dedicated group of writers and editors.
      3. My biggest mistake was loving you too much. But honey you know, now you got me where you want me and you won’t let me go. Well I’m trying to do my best. I’m just trying to do my best.
      4. I wouldn’t have moved to Texas if I hadn’t been involved in TTAG.
      5. I hope TTAG does its part to extend and defend Americans’ natural, civil and constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. I don’t think the antis will ever be fully “conquered” but that’s no reason to stop trying.

  10. Dang four years already? It seems like only a year ago I sent off my first article to Robert, begging to have it published. Well ok maybe not begging, but I remember watching the viewership rise.
    We have seen this site explode in a good way. When we are nipping on the heels of the NRA American Rifleman for eyeball time, that says a lot.
    Honest gear reviews, and staying ahead of the curve with the on goings of the civilian disarmament puts us in front of the pack. Being a part of this however small is pretty cool.

  18. Woo Hoo…..Happy B-day TTAG……I raise my glass (Bacardi and ice) to you guys. The past few years I as many others, have been part of an exciting venue where we have been allowed to voice our opinions. We have seen great features and engaged comments, both pro and con. We have seen trolls and others try to hijack the columns on occasion, and we have seen changes in formats and rules that have not necessarily been popular with all. It is just a given that when rules are applied some shall feel slighted. I accept that pain is a part of the growth process and understand everyone cannot be pleased all the time. Here’s to the next year and those that follow-TTAG keeping the 2A Fire Alive…………..Bottoms Up!!!!! MOLON LABE

  22. Robert, have you heard anything from Mikey Numbers lately. He proved an amusing foil. Do you think that he may have found a new distraction? I haven’t checked his site in probably a year or more. Not that he or it matters mind you, just Sunday afternoon curiosity.

    • Be careful. I’ve found, too many times, that when you mention someone by name, they show up before too long.

      Accordingly, I’m going to say: THOMAS JEFFERSON!

  31. I read your blog several times per day, but never comment (pretty sure that this is my first). I had to thank you and your team for putting out what I believe is the best gun blog out there today. Here’s hoping you can all keep up the good work for as long as you need to.

  32. Since this is a housekeeping post, I will be blunt.

    I’m seriously considering just not coming to the site anymore. I am not sure everyone will be sad to see me go, but the new trend towards censorship as well as some of the editorial tones not changing are leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

    • I will miss your comments. But you have to do what you think is right. Can you effect more change by staying or by leaving?

    • Given the content of your post, I don’t think the housekeeping policy applies to you. Why would you want to leave?

      Please explain… “editorial tones?”

    • Let’s be clear:

      The new policy is not aimed at censorship writ large. Dissenting opinions will continue to be encouraged, whether aimed at commenters or TTAG staff. As always, you are still welcome and encouraged to speak your mind.

      Think the review we published was bogus? Think we got something wrong? Think a fellow commenter is incorrect about something? Good. Speak out. We will not delete those comments.

      But posts that are solely derogatory or ad homenim attacks will be removed.

      We’re trying to foster civility, not stifle debate.

  33. Four years ago the only people who were reading TTAG were the people who were writing it. My my my, how times have changed!

  35. My local news, then TTAG,then TAGG two or three times a day, then TTAG last thing at night. I’m going to have to start spelling it out so my wife doesn’t think it is The Truth About Girls.

  40. You know, of course, that the vast majority of your readership never comments on a post but skims/reads nearly every one. The regular folks posting comments are a mixed bag of nuts (yours truly included). Just ignore most of our whining and moaning and groaning about your site policies or otherwise.
