    • Spent the first few decades of my life in Bama. Wait, I’ll prove it ROLL TIDE!!!
Glad I’m not there for this, but I can’t stop laughing at the footage of this guy’s draw. Not so sure about his gun credentials, because of it. If I was one of his advisers I would recommend he stiffens his wrist up a bit. The only thing that would make it more hilarious is for him to give out a half hearted “wiieuoooo!” at the apex of his draw. That in conjunction with the cowboy hat would make it absolutely perfect.

More guns matters not…just how fervent you are with backing 2A and freedom in general with your voting habits.

        • Well if it’s his vest pocket gun he’s keeping it in the wrong pocket. He removed it from and returned it to his right front pants pocket.

          Way to go Auburn!

I’ll spare you all the “How many Auburn students does it take to identify which pocket a gun goes in?” jokes that I know.

Actually I’m cool with your Tigers. There are these other ones that are stickin’ in my craw, though.

        • War Eagle, indeed.

Auburn was where folks who couldn’t qualify for Jax State went !

          Go Eagle Owls !!
(You had to be there to understand)

        • I was giving him the benefit of the doubt; carrying a concealed handgun that’s not loaded makes him even more moronic.

Shill? This idiot just made responsible gun owners and carriers look bad and gives ammo to the gun control crowd. It was probably illegal for him to brandish as well, though I don’t know for certain.

Just because someone is pro gun or agrees with you on other topics doesn’t mean they’re infallible or should get away with doing dumb or dangerous things. Current and ex-law enforcement in particular should be held to a higher standard as they’re trained in the law and safety.

    • If “real Republican” means a religious zealot who places his personal interpretation of God’s will above the law.

  1. It’s generally a bad idea to wave guns around in public, no matter the occasion. My personal policy is to never show mine off unless I’m on the range or in a private residence.

      • We have no “brandishing” law in Alabama. The violation that comes the closest is “Menacing” which that clearly was not.
Section 13A-6-23 Code of Alabama (1975)
        Menacing.
        (a) A person commits the crime of menacing if, by physical action, he intentionally places or attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury.
        (b) Menacing is a Class B misdemeanor.
        (Acts 1977, No. 607, p. 812, §2110.)

    • Is this an example of what the cool internet kids call “Concern Trolling”?

      Or is it “Virtue Signalling”?

        • The term “best practices” is common ploy used by people who want to further their private agendas. Labeling something a “best practice” attaches a moral imperative to an idea that would otherwise not be acceptable in routine practice. Bad choice of words, dude.

        • The term “best practices” is common ploy used by people who want to further their private agendas. Labeling something a “best practice” attaches a moral imperative to an idea that would otherwise not be acceptable or subject to ridicule by informed individuals. Calling virtue signalling a best practice is a perfect example of this.

        • That and “common sense gun control”! Which, if you actually read and had any concept of the Constitution, would mean NO gun control.

      • All we’re saying is that he had no good reason to take it out, therefore it should’ve stayed concealed.

It’s not really brandishing, but he was definitely flashing his gun. Not okay.

        • Isn’t stating the obvious on a forum dedicated to that subject “Concern Trolling” and/or “Virtue Signalling”?

You know, kind of like saying “Wear your seatbelt” at The Truth About Cars?

        • Agreed. If you don’t mean to use it, keep it in your pants. That’s a good rule for both your rifle and your “gun” as a movie drill sergeant once famously put it.

If Moore wanted to make the point, he could have open carried.

      • It depends, on 1) if you’re doing your job that you promised to your constituency; and

        2) if your constituency is paying attention.

  2. It’s tacky and counterproductive for Trump to have immersed himself in a GOP primary race, especially when he’s backing the swamp-based Establishment candidate, Strange, who’s trailing in the polls. The Trump-Mitchell-Ryan Axis of Weasel scampers on.

    #TrumpFakeConservative

    P.S. Told ya so!

    • Damn these fake conservatives trying to repeal Obamacare, lower taxes, standing for the National Anthem, pushing border security, wanting to build things in the US, and wanting better healthcare for US veterans! Oh, wait…

By the way brandishing a firearm occurs when you display a firearm in a rude, angry, or threatening manner. This guy is just being irresponsible.

      • “Damn these fake conservatives trying to repeal Obamacare, lower taxes, standing for the National Anthem, pushing border security, wanting to build things in the US, and wanting better healthcare for US veterans!”

I did you the favor of correcting your statement Accur81. While Republicans are putting on a big show, they are clearly unwilling to repeal Obamacare or lower taxes — both of which should have been a slam dunk in the first 8 weeks of the Trump presidency.

This tactic is standard procedure. Most of the Republicans can say that they tried, TRIED I TELL YOU!, to repeal Obamacare and lower taxes. But it was two Republican senators and senate rules that stymied the efforts so it isn’t Republican’s fault.

Notice that I highlighted the word “But” in that last sentence. Remember what we say about the word “but”? Whenever you see the word “but”, it means everything before that word is untrue/irrelevant, which means Republican claims that they tried to repeal Obamacare and lower taxes are at best irrelevant and at worst an out-and-out lie.

        • WHICH taxes should be lowered? Gas tax? Excise on firearms transfers?

And Obamacare? Who cares. Only applies to Federal employees. Keep it, and raise the excise tax on Federal Income (Federal Income Tax) from where it is to 90%. Government workers are already too common. Make it so the only ones that stay are those that truly believe in supporting the Constitution.

Anyone whining about taxes should move to…pretty much everywhere else in the world. Nearly every other country taxes their non-government worker’s wages, and at a ridiculous rate.

        • @GunDoc

          LOL

You don’t get out much. The US Empire is the supreme tax demander at the moment. There are plenty of other places on this planet that are much more friendly about stealing out of your pocket.

        • Uncommon,

I fully realize that politics is a game. There are plenty of RINOs and Republicans who suck, but Democrats are much, much worse. Just visit a state controlled by Dems and see what, if any, gun rights they still have. Republicans might make pro gun / pro Constitution progress, whereas Democrats will definitely make high tax / anti-Constitution laws.

I just see Moore as a decent candidate, despite his handgun-flashing performance art. Voting is only a small part of the political process, of course. We should all be supporting candidates, opposing specific bills, calling your congress critters, buying pro-gun, teaching people to shoot, etc.

      • “This guy is just being irresponsible. . . .”

He was a politician making a point during a speech. This was performance art, something that’s pretty typical—especially among southern politicians. You wouldn’t see him wave a handgun around in a restaurant which would be irresponsible.

        • Yes, I get it. It was – OK, best description is yours – “performance art”. Most of us PotG get that and take it as such. Provided he observed muzzle and trigger discipline, we would have understood it as non-threatening.

Still, we ought to maintain “four rules”-like discipline about drawing handguns and handling long-guns in “polite company”. Other folks might get the idea that if a judge can do this in “polite company” then “I” can do it too.

      • Strange is a McConnell pleebe. he does mitches bidding. In other words he will talk vigorously about border security while blocking funding for anything that would improve it. he will sing the national anthem wearing an american flag on his shoulders on the fourth of July after voting for open borders , higher deficit spending , and anthing else john mccain tells him too.

    • Lotta POS (D) here pretending to give a flying F about which Republican candidate gets the support of the President, and who might carry the day.

  3. Why should/does the irresponsible or idiotic action of one person ever “represent” everyone else who shares one characteristic or tool?

We keep fighting that with the anti-gun shills, yet refer to it as a real thing ourselves sometimes.

I am responsible for my own actions and choices, not those of anyone else. It doesn’t matter at all if that irresponsible person is waving a gun around or playing “hold my beer.” They do not represent me in any way. And I don’t care who else thinks they do.

    • “They do not represent me in any way. And I don’t care who else thinks they do.”

      MamaLiberty,

Once again I will remind readers that, “You may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you.” Everything that you said MamaLiberty is accurate and true — and irrelevant to Progressives who only care about their perception. This is important to understand because Progressives quite literally provide voter and monetary support to mercenaries (paid government agents) who will quite happily use deadly force to carry out the desires of those Progressive voters/payers, regardless of whether or not those desires are wrong/evil.

This is all a result of the fact that many people do not operate under any timeless, objective standard of right and wrong. Rather, most people operate according to the whimsical dictates of the masses and whoever pays them. Ignore this fact at your peril. And ignore this fact at the peril of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

  4. It’s not the number of guns, it’s the number of rounds.

Anyway this guy seems to be somewhat “strange.”

  5. I called Moore’s campaign a few times asking about NFA repeal. Staff was very nice and tried to get me an anwser but they never could get one.

  6. OMG! A Senate candidate just pulled a gun from his pocket! A gun! A real gun!

Bring out the smelling salts and the fainting couches!

It seems that the twinks tr0lling TTAG are having a bad case of the vapors.

  7. Judge Moore scares the sh*t out of godless people. Because the godless are socialist progressive in their political orientation. And yes their are godless Democrats, godless Republicans, and godless Libertarians. Go, go Judge Moore. We need you.

    • Zealots of any ideology (either religious ideology, or a secular ideology such as communism) scare sensible people with a good understanding of history. When someone in power feels that they have no responsibility to uphold the law, there’s not much limit to what abuses of office they can justify to themselves.

      • The godless have done quite well with their creation of the Welfare Industrial Complex. This has replaced a private religious group, a church, or a father, with “free money”, and Gun Free Zone public housing projects.

The godless have quite enough, trying to create their version of a utopia in America.

      • This. It’s sad how few people remember this when the zealot is someone they view as being a brother-in-faith or the equivalent.

        • You love that godless created Welfare Industrial Complex, don’t you? Amazing how the godless like to get involved in the private sexual choice of single women on welfare. I see how they view this as adultery on the part of the woman who is “married” to the government.

      • Serpent vision
You will need lots of toilet paper. Moore won the election. Now we will really have a supporter of the bill of rights.

  8. I don’t really care how many guns you’ve got. I care a great deal about your opinions on how many I have.

Are you the kind of Politician who thinks you having guns is good and me having guns is bad?

Are are you the kind of Politician who thinks don’t go around shooting people with your guns for no reason and it doesn’t matter how many you have.

    • The homosexuals, atheist, and socialist progressive, are just like you. All of you put guns way down on the list of political demands.

As an American black gun owner I think differently, because of the racist gun control history in America. Gun rights are number one to me.

      • “As an American black gun owner…Gun rights are number one to me.”

Doesn’t thinking and talking like that disqualify you as an authentic black person? Guns being responsible for killing so many black people each year, and all.

  9. Lighten up, its just a gun. He could be waving a D _ _ K around in these days they do that. This is what liberals do. Hell the waving of that gun reminds me of conquering the evil! I personnally think it should have been a tommy gun! Now saying that, I need to take my meds.

  10. What a bunch of weenie comments here. Where are all the open carry people on this? Cops walk around showing their guns at all times and this guy is a military vet and a former LEO. This was either no big deal or cool as hell but no way no how “bad” unless you are a onesie wearing anti gun fruit.

More to what should be the topic, what kind of snubbie is he packing? Looks like a Smith 637.

  11. What a clown. A real firearm is a tool for target sports, hunting, or self-defense, not a political prop or a harmless toy. Idiotic weapon handling is something we should call out no matter who is doing it.
