MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Germantown man has been sentenced to three months in prison for selling firearms without a federal license and selling to an out-of-state resident.

The Commercial Appeal reported 63-year-old William F. Arnold will also serve nine months of home confinement after his release and must complete 1,200 hours of community service. He was fined $3,000 and forfeited 291 handguns, rifles and shotguns that authorities seized in a 2007 raid on his home.

U.S. District Court Judge Bernice Donald sentenced Arnold on his guilty plea earlier this year. Arnold will serve his sentence at the Millington Federal Prison Camp in West Tennessee.

His attorneys said their client had picked up an application form to obtain a federal gun dealer license, but never completed it.
