Gotcha. The above video is a fan-made “spoof” of the Activision franchise. There is no Call of Duty: Police Warfare. Got me too; the game play and plot line seemed entirely credible—right up to the point where the bad guys put a bomb on the “enemy vehicle.” Anyway, it looks like fun! No wonder gamer websites like joystiq.com have a message for the corporate dreamsmiths behind the Call of Duty franchise: “Hey, Activision! Let’s get it done!” Why not? It’s not like U.S. police aren’t armed to the teeth, trained to use military tactics. Or that the public feels doesn’t feel any angst about the increasing use of no-knock raids by militarized SWAT teams. Like many games, Police Warfare would be way cool, with enough reality to get the media worked-up for millions in free advertising. Not about kids playing hyper-violent cops, obviously . . .

  1. i think seeing this kind of carnage would be too destabilizing for media types and FCC crybabies. very interesting.

  2. Maybe this is a vision of “things to come”.
If the “War on Terror” ever ends what do we think the Governments are going to do with all those pseudo-stormtroopers, armored vehicles, heavy weapons, drones and other State of the Art paraphernalia they are training and amassing?
Recently, I saw a TV News feature describing how LEA’s are adopting drones as fast as they can get their hands on them, and check this out if you want to get real nervous:

  3. I can see it now. *Billy Mays voice* In Call of Duty: Police Warfare, you’ll be able to take part in virtual recreations of the harrowing missions encountered by real policemen every day! This includes many pulse-pounding moments such as safely halting a combined hostage situation and bank robbery, engaging in break-neck speed chases on a busy freeway, and the SWAT teams’ personal favorite, shooting the family dog.

  4. i have always taught my family that cops are your enemy and never talk to them with out a lawyer present.if bongo wins another term you can bet that he will try to confiscate our fire arms and that our locale cops will do it with a big smile on their faces.what will you do?

    • “if bongo wins another term you can bet that he will try to confiscate our fire arms and that our locale cops will do it with a big smile on their faces.
Oh, we can bet that? For sure? 100% certainly?”

See, this is the sort of irresponsible BS that makes our side look crazy, and unreasonable to the public at large. I’m all for the oversight of government agencies, and being vigilant about our rights, but this statement is asinine and disingenuous. This is the sort of fear-mongering garbage that makes young people want nothing to do with 2A rights.

      • Fear mongering garbage?

There’s a difference between fiction and cynicism; given the abuses we have seen perpetrated upon our own soil (from Katrina to F&F) the above comment reads somewhere between cynicism and realism depending on how cynical the reader is.

I’m 22 by the way, so that partially invalidates your other point.

  5. Call Of Duty changed hands every year after Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward titles were anti-Russian, pro-Amurrica, and anti-Muslim. Treyarch inverted reality and slavishly praised the Soviet Union for one game. Later they gained some historical sense in Black Ops.
Prior to this, Call Of Duty was Spielburg-esque in it’s naive treatment of WW2.
