Gregory McCallum, the type Brits call a yob, was the neighbor from hell. The 23-year-old McCallum had a history of noisy parties and disputes with neighbors, and the morning after his latest blow-out he wanted revenge against the neighbor he thought had called the police on him the night before. So he decided to do something he’ll never be able to take back. He armed himself with a knife described as a ‘six-bladed knuckle duster,’ broke into the home of 72 year-old pensioner Frank Corti and attacked him. McCallum made two strategic mistakes: 1) he was still drunk when he invaded Corti’s home, and 2) he didn’t know his enemy. Corti was tough and brave, and fortune (this time, at least) favored the bold. But it should have been a DGU.

  1. Nothing worse than living in a working class neighberhood and you have that one neighbor who believes he has the right to play his “Boom Boom” music at 3 in the morning when most of his neighbers have to be up at 5-6 to go and earn a living.

And he’s always the sod that gets angry when you point out that he’s an Ahole.

Never bought a beer for a retired Royal Engineer, but I’d be happy to for Mr. Corti.

    • Just when you thought you knew and had seen everything……………………

I guess wikipedia covers the full gamut of weird and strange…………

        • Funny.

The dweeb in the article, with or without a “Prince Albert,” is in the can. Klink? Hoosegow? Slammer?

Never mind. Your obviously too damned young to get the miserable double pun,

        • mlopilato. Prince Albert was a brand of pipe tobacco sold in a can. Can is also slang term for jail. Hence, Prince albert in a can.

    • WTH is wrong with people? Piercing your Johnson? Wow. I clicked the link and will never get that image out of my head, thanks…then I read this:

“Conversely, extremely thin jewelry can cause the same tearing in what is commonly referred to as the “cheese cutter effect”, either during sudden torsion or over a long period of wearing, especially if the thin jewelry bears any weight.”

Cheese cutter effect or sudden torsion on the Johnson?

      ENOUGH SAID!! Damn!

  2. If you want to have your head explode, type in “Tony Martin case” in Wikipedia. The guy was a British farmer who shot two thugs that had broken in to his house – using an unregistered EEEVIL pump shotgun. Killed one, wounded one. He got more time in jail than the thugs did, for using “unreasonable force” and a BAAAD gun in defending his own life and his home. So much for “an Englishman’s home is his castle”.

He would have gotten less time if he had killed both of them, hidden the bodies, and claimed it was a drug deal gone bad if he had been caught. The Brit gummint doesn’t care about drug killings, but they wanted to make an example of someone using a gun to defend himself.

Kind of reminds me of what Florida’s prosecutor did to George Zimmerman.

    • What got Martin was two mistakes. Firstly, the shotgun he used was illegal and unregistered: not a good start to a DGU.

However, and more importantly, he was caught lying in court. His story was that he remained upstairs through the incident; unless shotgun pellets can execute perfect formation turns, he must have pursued his burglars after they ran away and kept firing at them as they fled.

He’d have got jail time in a fair number of US states, too.

Oh, and once he was convicted, he changed his plea to “guilty but mentally incompetent” to try to cop a lesser sentence: not exactly a screaming integrity call there.

For a case where the homeowner didn’t try to do everything wrong, try this:-

  3. I’m impressed
And the Dis-armament crowd says that unarmed attackers are no threat! How many men have ben killed by a single blow to the head recently,3?

  4. The gun grabbers will say this is a perfect example of why no one needs a gun. If the old man had a gun a sweet but misguided young teen would be dead today instead of in prison learning techniques for his next crime when he gets out.

  5. Disagree, should not have been a DGU. What this guy got was a public emasculation, which is possibly worse than a trip to room temperature.

    • He broke into a house and attacked the occupent with a weapon. It should most certainly have been a DGU.

    • I tend to agree, not that I would fault someone for shooting in that scenario. But the fact that he got his ass BEAT by a 72yr old man is just classic.

  6. What’s with the delay in comments showing up after hitting “Post Comment”. Every comment I’ve made today has been lagged. Are we giving the editors time to review the comments?

  7. this is proof (at least to the mentally defunct) that no matter what your assailant is armed with, you don’t need a gun….

  8. That plonker must’ve intended murder; can’t leave witnesses when ones appearance is so, er, distinctive.

    • Wow.

While I’ve no love for the Christian right, I think we could use a few million more Johnson types.
