Sports folk are famous for their malapropisms and inane non-speak. Here’s an excellent example via cleveland.com. “The Browns did not learn during Commissioner Roger Goodell’s visit today if defensive linemen Shaun Rogers and Robaire Smith will face suspensions for their separate gun-related arrests. But it sounds as if some discipline will come under the league personal conduct policy. Both players were arrested for carrying guns in an airport. ‘It’s a clear mistake,’ Goodell said. ‘It is a violation of law. It’s the kind of judgments that we have to make sure we do a better job of avoiding.’ Goodell said both cases are still under review and he hasn’t gotten any recommendations from his staff about discipline.” If he’s of two minds, Goodell should listen to Yogi Berra’s advice: “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.”
