Once again during his remarks about the newest attempt to restrict gun rights, President Joe Biden repeated his already-discredited claim that the Second Amendment historically prevented certain people from buying guns or owning cannons, leaving the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to encourage Americans to question anything Biden says.
Near the end of his remarks, Biden stated, “From the very beginning, the Second Amendment didn’t say you could own any gun you want and big as you want. You couldn’t buy a cannon when in fact the Second Amendment passed. And certain people from the very beginning weren’t allowed to purchase guns.”
“Every time Joe Biden repeats this canard,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “he reinforces the notion that he is a habitual, pathological liar. Washington Post fact checker Glenn Kessler last year publicly corrected this falsehood, noting it wasn’t the first time he had been fact-checked on the claim. By now, anybody else would have learned to keep his mouth shut, but Biden evidently just can’t let go of a good fib.”
Gottlieb recalled the Washington Post contacted Second Amendment historian David Kopel at the Independence Institute. Kopel told the newspaper at the time, “There were no federal laws about the type of gun you could own, and no states limited the kind of gun you could own.” This included private ownership of cannons.
“Biden has been repeating this tale for at least two years, and probably longer,” Gottlieb said. “Honestly, we’ve got to challenge everything he says about the Second Amendment, about gun rights and gun ownership in this country. He isn’t just wrong; he is wrong-headed.
“Now is a good time for Americans to wonder what else about gun rights Joe Biden has been lying about,” Gottlieb continued. “This isn’t just an idle error, it’s an obsession with him. He has been trying to misrepresent and even discredit the Second Amendment’s protection of the right of individual citizens to keep and bear arms for decades, even when he’s caught and called out for it. No honest person does that.
“It’s time for Joe Biden to stop lying about the Second Amendment,” he concluded.
Well to be fair its not like he uses his own speeches so may be hard to keep track of the lies.

He loves people, is friendly, and always makes coherent charismatic reasonable and logical points when speaking. He the greatest speaker of our time, and the greatest philosopher of our time. He is a subtle, humble, and honest person of incredible integrity, and like a caring father teaching his children, he is banning activities, possessions, and ideas that are harmful to us, because he cares and loves us.

Not because of federal law, but the seller could refuse to sell the firearm, powder, shot, etc. Also, slaves and freedmen might have a problem getting someone to sell to them. Firearms were very expensive at that time. A good rifle might last 3 generations, earning its keep hung above the mantle, being there for protection and the getting of fresh meat.
Most people could not afford to just go down and purchase one, they had it commissioned to be made by a gunsmith, which took a lot of time. Slaves, freemen, craftsmen did not live on the frontier, so they did not normally have a firearm.
Biden is right about some of that BS, but it is racist and classist to think that way these days.
Wrong on so many counts. Some classes could not buy guns such as felons but that was not usually an issue as they were hung.

Here is what Rep. Sean Casten replied back to me today about my concerns with anti-2nd Amendment bills he supports in Congress. Just read it and see the crap they are promoting.
My opinion is lower than his anti-2nd Amendment constituents.
His reply:
Thank you for contacting me about legislation addressing gun violence. I value your input on something so important.
My responsibility is to represent my constituents in Congress. I believe we must take action to implement common-sense gun safety measures. The acts of gun violence we’ve seen in the past few weeks and in recent months make it clear that the threat posed by guns has not diminished. We must not allow mass shootings and gun violence to continue to be the norm. I support sensible gun control measures to protect our communities, schools, and houses of worship.
Some of my constituents have raised concerns regarding H.R. 127, Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act and H.R. 121, Gun Violence Reduction Resources Act. As you may know, H.R. 127 would create licensing and registration requirements to possess firearms and ammunition, and would prohibit the possession of certain ammunition. These requirements include criminal background checks, psychological evaluations, and training courses, among other gun safety measures. H.R. 121 would allow the Department of Justice to hire 200 additional Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents and investigators to enforce gun laws.
Both H.R. 127 and H.R. 121 were introduced by U.S. Representative Sheila Lee Jackson (D-TX) and have been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. While I am not a member of that Committee, I will keep your thoughts in mind should either H.R. 127 or H.R. 121 be brought before the full House of Representatives for a vote.
I appreciate where you are coming from and respect your devotion to your beliefs. I am committed to maintaining a dialogue with constituents such as yourself so that I can understand your views and ensure that all members of Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District have a voice in Washington.

I continue to hope more people will see through the “Biden is evil” crowd. While it’s true he has done more to recruit pro 2nd Amendment than all others, he’s a rapidly diminishing example of dementia. If anyone here has seen this close-up in real life, you have to know that regardless of contributions or evil throughout his life, his brain and it’s processes are emptying out like a screen bottom under a kitchen sink. It’s his caretakers that should draw your attention, those writing his dialog, coaching and directing him that have been responsible. Biden couldn’t check receipts at Walmart. You don’t crack the windshield of a car because it ran out of gas.
But we do take it out of service until it can be refueled. Anyhow “…ran out of gas…” is a poor analogy. If he was running low on fuel, we’d just give him another ice cream cone. No, his PCM is on the fritz, and at least today, we don’t have the technology to reprogram/replace a human PCM, as we can with a car. Whenever a vehicle’s PCM begins to malfunction, we consider the vehicle to be unreliable and unsafe until it has been repaired. Placeholder Biden is transitioning from “poor choice” to “demented poor choice.”

Biden also lies about gun makers being “immune” to lawsuits. This is a base lie. The PLCAA protects gun makers against liability for crimes committed with their products by third parties. Nobody would sue Stanley if someone attacked them with a hammer, but anti-gunners want to bankrupt the industry by bringing lawsuits, even when they know those lawsuits won’t prevail
If you couldn’t have a cannon, WTH was that clause in Article I Section 8 about granting Letters of Marque and Reprisal for? Thought that was about folks with private fighting ships thata probably had more than 1 cannon.
