In a case decided last summer, the Supreme Court ruled that a New York public carry licensing law was unconstitutional and that the ability to carry a pistol in public was a constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

The NRA was a party in that case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, and last week a New York judge ordered the state to pay $447,700.82 in legal fees.

“The NRA regards the $447K award in the NYSRPA V. Bruen case as a pivotal victory, a symbol that justice is definitively on our side,” Michael Jean, NRA’s director of the Office of Litigation Counsel, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“This triumph in Bruen has fortified the Second Amendment in an unprecedented manner, and we continue our unrelenting fight to uphold our rights and challenge those who endeavor to infringe upon them,” he added.

Jean noted, however, that the payout “only scratches the surface” and covers “merely a third” of the group’s legal expenses. Jean thanked the generosity of “devoted NRA members” that helped to cover the brunt of the legal fees for the case, noting that “New York refuses to fully compensate.”

  1. That’s nice. And raise them taxes NY.
Perhaps when the citizens realize these lawsuits affect them monetarily they’ll start making some changes on who they’ve voted for.
In other words ” Your duck weed infringement is costing us money, bye bye.”

    • LOL LMAO even.
Yeah no it will never touch those that vote for the madness but it will be a point of shame/ridicule that we will use constantly to piss them off to do something stupid enough to create backlash.

    • With a population of 8.5 million…the $447,700 legal fee works out to just under $0.053 per person.

Yeah…it’s a good thing the NRA is recouping some of their legal cost, but the taxpayers of NYC wont even notice.

    • New York already did with a mandatory state-run background check system that charges $2.50 for ammo background checks and $9 for firearm background checks.

      • Different case different challenge same black hole on taxes/fees. Hope you are keeping above water with that mess.

  2. Does that mean the other parties in ‘Bruen’ like the 2A foundation also get a payout?

    • Don’t know about that, but what I do know is that Wayne LaPiere started blowing through that $447k this morning on some shiny new duds.

  3. Not going to even start with how I feel about NRA, but the State of NY should be forced to pay the legal expenses of every citizens org that has to sue them for deprivation of rights under color of law which all these “sensitive places” nonsense amounts to, and they should be forced to post bond for ten times the amount they have to pay out in a year. The reason for the bond is both to punish the state for its behavior and to ensure they have funds to pay out in the case they attempt to stall on the payout.

  4. So, a half a mil, huh ? That works out to how many weeks of LaPierre’s suit fund and legal expenses?… It’ll be gone in a month and have benefitted the membership by exactly zilch.

    • If it hits NYSRPA it would be a huge boon to their budget and help fund their other cases, if to NRA proper………..yeah not sure it would be noticed.

  5. Chump change for NY, especially if insurance is paying any portion of it. SAFE and other NYers, they’d likely gladly pay a lot more, just for the privilege of tweaking your nose again. The process is the punishment. Double whammy–slap you with a mag restriction or some such, and then raise your taxes after they get stopped in court, all because you have the temerity to stand up against them. There orta be a law agin it.

    • LOL they already have us with the mag restriction and all kinds of limits for detachable magazines and a laundry list of other barely intelligible laws. The CCIA will hopefully be the worst they can realistically hit us with that will survive contact with a friendly (to them) court as we peel away the layers. Going to be real interesting as various circuits hear awb cases amongst others and have to make decisions that either become precedent or challenged further. But yes they will gladly spend our money to spite us

    • Joseph Robinett Biden is the greatest president America has or ever will have.
Why would you want to fck that all up.
Before theBiden gas was $8 a gallon, milk was too.
The economy is much better, just ask him, he’ll try and tell you.
And look what JRB has done for securing Our borders, before theBiden all those illegal immigrants had no place to stay, no .giv benefits. Had it not been for theBiden’s diplomacy we’d have been at War with Antarctica.
Nobody gives that man any credit.

    • New York judge throws out 80% of the case brought by New York AG (D) Letitia James against President Trump today in Court ruling. Questions much of the rest of her case on it’s merits.
