Yesterday, TTAG published a post on the Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ exploitation of a Mother’s Day parade shooting in New Orleans. Despite MAIG’s bloody shirt waving it seemed clear that the shooter or shooters were, as they say, “known to the police.” Or, as we say, vicious criminals who should have been locked-up. “Asked whether the parade shooting was gang-related, officials said they were still investigating,” cnn.com reports. “It’s too preliminary to tell,” New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu told the news net. Oh really? “Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said that authorities are looking for 19-year-old Akein Scott [who] was arrested in March and may be out on bond . . . Scott has been arrested in the past for possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and narcotics charges, among other charges.” TTAG’s emailed MAIG’s main man McCarthy for a clarification of their position. Be advised not to hold your breath.

        Jeebus, I still can’t get the image of that crazy chunky-but-MILFY chick married to the actor berating some woman over the phone at her local Senator’s office over paranoid schizophrenics buying guns that was in TTAG a couple of weeks ago.

  3. I hate to sound racist but poor black people in New Orleans are just on their own. 20 dead white kids from rich liberal families make much better headlines. Sorry if this sounds crass or bigoted, but I am calling it the way I see it.

They’re silent for the same reason the rest of the media has let this story disappear, there’s nothing that can be politically leveraged here – a black, ‘known’, criminal gangbanger shoots up a mostly black crowd in a poor section of a rather poor city. No one cares. Change it to rich, white suburban kid shoots up 4th of July parade in upper middle class-ville and now we’ve got a story with legs.

    • Its not even the victims so much as the perpetrator being white. Here is a case is a white family was a victim of a hate crime by a mob, a husband, mother and child were all attacked for as the perpetrator said “being in the wrong neighborhood”. One perp was arrested, the others were only given tickets, even though a child was attacked and the husband was knocked unconcisous and had a broken skull. Had it been the other way around, it would have been national news for the next month, the black panthers would have issued a bounty, Eric Holder would try to indict people, the FBI would be investing it as a federal hate crime, and Obama would have said the victims looked like his sons and daughters.

  10. The cities that MAIG represent are largely crime infested: most homicide occurs in urban areas. Anything that points back to their own failed social policies will be ignored.

  14. And not a single mention of making “grief counselors” available to the victims, no mass shipments of stuffed animals, no new laws proposed, no breathless reporting. Just a general “damn not given” is all the story is worthy of. Is it because the victims are black? You betcha. It’s as plain as day. Blatant racism is as least as rampant on the left as is on the right.

  15. Anyone else find it interesting that 19 people were shot by one person with a handgun who didn’t appear to reload? Are we being led to believe that no one else in that crowd had a gun on them and fired back, possibly injuring others? My guess is there’s more than one illegal gun involved. C’mon MAIG, this is your cause! It says so right in your name!

    • It’s likely one bullet hit more than one person or fragments from shot objects caused injury to others…

  16. I knew this would happen. Leftists only care when white kids are shot. Black on black crime is an accepted part of life to the average leftist. It’s the bigotry of low expectations.

  17. If that parade was happening in Bloomberg’s city the NYPD would have stopped and frisked everyone in that video for suspiciously being “in public while black”.
