  3. See, this is the problem with lights on handguns: crummy holster choices.
    Don’t get me wrong, I’m actually a big fan of weapon-mounted lights- for house guns.
    An EDC on the other hand would be better served paired with a handheld light like so many of the daily Pocket Dumps show.
    Sometimes, hopefully most of the time in fact, you just need a light – not the gun that goes with it.

    • This, so much this! Also, like it or not, a lot of us are either Kydex guys or leather guys. I’ve tried Kydex – hard and uncomfortable as hell, for me anyway. Horsehide – much more comfortable. That’s all there is to it. Nothing wrong with one kind or the other, if you can comfortably wear both, more power to you.

      But the light probably needs to be separate, if for no other reason than you will almost always need just the light and not the light and the gun, and the other alternative is to carry 2 lights. Frankly some of those EDC pocket dumps are just waaay too heavy 🙂

      • Is it really that hard to carry both? You don’t have to carry one of those Mag-Lites that runs of four D-cell batteries…

        You can get flashlight that weighs 1.6oz (plus one 123A battery, 2.15oz total), has brightness settings from 3 lumens to 210 lumens, glass breaks, a removable pocket clip, holster and is IPX-8 rated for like $50 and it will last though serious beatings for years on end.

        As bLoving pointed out; holster choice is the only drawback here. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t carry both if you could get a holster that accepted your light. One is none. Two is one.
