It’s August in Austin (and just about everywhere else, come to think of it) which means triple digits most of this week. That also means I like to tote the lightest, least encumbering rig I can. That’s usually a GLOCK 43 in an IWB hybrid holster. There’s no denying an OWB option would be a little more comfortable, but I haven’t gotten around to buying one yet. Clicked on the Fobus link. Looks like “ND” has been removed from the name. Now we’ll never know what it was supposed to stand for.
Not to mention, the full model name

can read “gland” at a glance.
Now it’s Glock Leg 43 Negligent Discharge? Are they trying to make it better or worse?

Why would anyone self respecting firearms website advertise for Fobus???? Some new gun guy or gal will inevitably read this story due to TTAG’s prestigious reputation and ludicrous foot traffic and be forced to conclude that at the very least Fobus has made an actual functional product. Stop feeding these stupid companies that should have died long ago.
This isn’t an ad for anything. It’s a new product announcement. We run them occasionally to let readers know about new products that might interest them.
You may not be a fan of Fobus gear, but thousands of people are. And with all the GLOCK 43s being sold, a lot of them are going to buy these. This just gives them one more affordable choice when they’re looking for a holster.

Not everyone has loads of money for the drawer of holsters many of us have. A simple thermoplastic holster will get the job done. Hopefully without causing an ND…
You can have have any accessory you like in the gun world. As long as it is for a glock, AR-15, or remington 700.
I don’t under stand all the hate for Fobus. Their products are great when used for an appropriate role. I would never use my Fobus holster for CC because it prints. It isn’t great for OC because of the lack of retention. But as a range/training holster it’s works well.
Fobus holsters have been a topic of discussion on my state firearms owners forum (www.nebraskafirearms.org). Aside from quality issues, the biggest criticism is that they don’t adequately cover the trigger guard. A respected local instructor recommends Blackhawk Sportster, Blade-Tech Revolution or Uncle Mike’s kydex for range and practice. I bought the Revolution for my Gold Cup ($30 plus shipping) and am very pleased with it.
My Fobus paddle completely covers the trigger guard of my G26.
I have the Fobus thumb release hosted and I carry it everyday. I have carried it every day for the past 3 years. I love it.
I have a FOBUS holster, and I can’t complain about it at all. It was the only holster that would work with my M&P 22 with a suppressor attached. It does what I need it to do when I’m out hunting, and it was inexpensive.
Today at the range I used the holster that came with my Springfield Armory XD-m. It said “made in Israel” and sure looked a lot like a Fobus product. It actually worked quite well for a paddle holster.
I have one of the base line of Fobus paddle holsters for my Glock 26, and it’s fine. I don’t use it much for CC, because I have others that hold tighter to the body, but I did at one time, and it concealed adequately under a jacket or a loose shirt. Now I use it as a quick-on field holster, and it’s fine for that. Holds the gun securely and safely.
The concealabiliy aspect is, in my opinion, just a function of paddle holsters, not Fobus. They hold about as close as you can expect a paddle holster to hold. I’ve got another paddle holster from another maker, and it’s even worse.
What really annoys me about Fobus is that they refuse to make left-handed holsters for any new models. If it’s not one of their few existing legacy left-handed models, you’re out of luck. A big eff you to 10% of their potential customers.

negligent discharges are caused by the people carrying the firearm, not the equipment! thats why it is called negligent. point is fobus is a good economical holster for the average person. not everyone has $80-$90 bucks for a holster after dumping big money into a handgun.
I couldn’t agree more. No holster is going to fix stupid (or negligent, if you prefer). Gun safety is a matter of mind over matter, not the other way around. When I’m going to the range or I’m carrying under an untucked shirt or jacket, I want a minimum of hassle getting it out of the holster. This holster works just fine for those purposes. If you’re drawing with your finger going immediately inside the trigger guard, then you need to retrain, or not be carrying at all. Guns don’t accidentally kill people. Knuckleheads with guns accidentally kill people.
