It’s awesome to see more manufacturers coming out with low power variable optics with enough zoom to enter the medium power category. A true 1x, no magnification setting allows running with both eyes open and using the illuminated reticle like a red dot, then cranking up the zoom lever to 10x (in Riton’s case here) allows for precision at longer ranges. It’s a great time to be alive!

Somehow, Riton has managed to launch a 1-10x scope in a more compact size and tube diameter than I’ve seen anywhere else. We’ll have to get our hands on one to see how the optics look! In the meantime, the specs sound good and the price is aggressive. Riton’s press release follows:

Riton Optics Announces the All-New 5 TACTIX 1-10×24 Riflescope

Tucson, AZ (May 2023) – The long-awaited First Focal Plane Low Variable Power Optic (LVPO) has arrived from RITON Optics with the unveiling of the 5 TACTIX 1-10×24. Engineered to outperform and overdeliver, the 5 TACTIX 1-10×24 has superior clarity, red dot capabilities with 1x power, and precision on 10x power for those long distance shots.

Capped, zero-resettable windage and elevation turrets provide the option of protected or exposed turrets based on usage. Precise and audible 1/10 MRAD turrets allow rapid adjustments for those who prefer to dial their turrets. For shooters who prefer to hold over and not dial their turrets, the illuminated 3OT Christmas tree reticle is the answer.
Windage and elevation adjustments on the 5 TACTIX 1-10×24 are made with tactile, low-profile turrets that offer 1/10 MRAD adjustments. Sturdy, machined aluminum turret caps ensure extreme durability and confidence in just about any environment.

“The 5 TACTIX LVPO has been a long time coming and we are thrilled it is finally here,” said Jerimiah Alexander, Director of Product Riton Optics. “We have spent a lot of time, research, and development creating a riflescope that would excel in any environment and exceed expectations.”

Using 6061-T6 aluminum, the 5 TACTIX 1-10×24 is a great choice for anyone who wants a quality, versatile riflescope that is robust and accurate. With the patent-pending dual lever throw system, shooters have the ability to increase magnification from 1x to half to full magnification utilizing the dual lever throw system without adjusting your shooting position. This feature is available on all 2023 Riton 3, 5 and 7 series optics.

As with every magnified optic from Riton Optics, the 5 TACTIX 1-10×24 is also backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty and the Riton Promise, providing users with a lifetime of confidence in the field.

  1. I was all in until the MSRP rained on the parade. Nonetheless if scope moola is a non-issue it sounds nice.

  2. STILL TTAG can’t post he country of origin.

It may be the greatest scope every priced at $1, but if it is PLA(Chicom) then it’s NO.

    • I called the mfg. This is Chicom (Japanese glass). They say that they do manufacture some items in Japan.

Any Firearms products made in chiclomand is made in a PLA factory.

NOGO. The chicoms/PLA are the existential threat in the world to the USA. They are at war with us. NO

Do you own any firearms optics? Most firearms optics contain parts that originated in China.

You have a red/green dot sight? All red/green dot sight’s on the market, no matter what manufacturer they are from, contains parts that originated in China even if the manufacturer of the sight says “Made in USA’. In some cases (SOME CASES not all cases) even though the manufacturers says ‘Made in USA’ the whole thing was actually made/assembled in China.

You have flip up iron sights that are spring loaded? That spring probably originated in China.

You have any after market (not made by the firearm manufacturer) open iron night sights on any hand guns? Chances are pretty good the materials for those originated in China even if the manufacturer says ‘Made in USA’.

How about after market triggers on your firearms? Chances are some of the materials used for those originated in China.

Those detent pins on the civilian AR platform? They probably originated in either China or Taiwan.

You use any Primary Arms Optics? Most of those use glass that originated in China and in most cases were actually manufactured in China.

You use any Burris optics? Most of those originate in China.

How about Holosun? They are 100% materials supplied through a private company in China

that list goes on and on…. but there is a pretty good chance you have “China” in/on your gun(s) some place.

  3. Eye relief and target acquisition is always the problem with these – I have yet to find an LPVO that lets me grab a target as fast as a reflex/holographic.

Some of the higher end ones come really close.

    Curious how this one compares.

  4. It’s amazing how quickly the power has crept up on these optics fairly quickly.

I’d be happy with a decent 1-4 or 1-6 at this point honestly.

    • They have this line in a 1×6 too > 5 TACTIX 1-6×24 > https://ritonoptics.com/product/5-tactix-1-6×24/

I have one of those, its nice and I really can’t say anything bad about it. I got mine for free though, and at the price I probably would not have purchased it. But I also have a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6×24 and been able to compare the 5 TACTIX 1-6×24 and the Strike Eagle 1-6×24 side by side and although slightly different the Strike Eagle 1-6×24 is overall just as good as the the Riton 5 TACTIX 1-6×24 at about half the MSRP price.
