The new-to-the-U.S. Tactical Imports GM6 Lynx is for you! The Hungarian-made, 25-pound, semi-automatic bullpup rifle is chambered in .50 BMG. How short is it? . . .

The GM6 Lynx is only 44.3” long even with its 28.7” barrel. “Due to the bullpup configuration, most of the weight is re-distributed to the rear of the rifle allowing for the possibility of off hand firing,” the company’s website kinda promises. “This is near impossible with most other .50 BMG rifles.”


Don’t forget to pick up a spare five-round magazine — for just $375 USD. The gun ships inside a proper Pelican case with cut inserts. So there is that.

The GM6 can be transported with the barrel and bolt locked to the rear which makes it even more compact. The barrel is released by pressing a button at the front of the barrel jacket. Careful! It will also load the rifle if a loaded magazine is inserted.

The company claims the long recoil system can achieve sub-MOA groups with its match grade Lothar Walther barrel. With .50 BMG, but likely not off hand.

  2. My only experience with .50 is Saint John The Brownings neat little belt fed device, the m2.

    Wouldn’t the bullpup, another design type I have no real experience with, put the muzzle and muzzle brake closer to your face? With a .50 bmg round?

    And, oh, yes. Eek! 12 grand! Are you fucking kidding me?

    • Isn’t that Canadian dollars, so its $124.50 in US real dollars. America’s hat money really isn’t money, its just play stripper money for Michigan teens to make rain*.

      *referring to the tradition of Michigander boys to cross the Ambassador to Windsor and frequent the shows. I am a gentleman, so would never have participated, any of those times, anyone who says different, is a liar.

    Sub-MOA groups not likely off hand, unless you’re Jerry Miculek. He would put all the bullets in the same hole.

    Yeah, that’s 230+ grains of powder cooking a few inches from your face. I think I’ll just sit back and watch someone else shoot it.

    • It should be alright- I haven’t heard of any concerns by the owners up here. Also, it must be a safe design for ordinary people, because it is non-restricted and therefore can be carried out in the wilderness. This is unlike the dangerous and deadly .22 short revolver, which is so dangerous and deadly that it can only be shot at a range in Canada, or with a coveted ATC.

      I’ve been on firing lines where multiple .50’s were being fired – eg, at the Fifty Cal group’s matches at the Washoe County range, north of Reno.

      The shock wave going through my guts standing well behind the firing line was enough to convince me that I’d like those muzzle brakes to be somewhere far ahead of me…

    • The comments about proximity to the chamber in bullpups is always amusing.

      What do you do with your current guns, fire them from the hip? Is the bolt not generally in line to (at least) take a good chunk of your face/skull? Do you really believe that if your chamber does frag, that somehow 2-4 extra inches is gonna really save you?

  5. I just checked out the Tactical Imports website, and I see good news- the Type 81s are back in stock. Unfortunately I don’t think they fall under sporting purposes, so they may be a bit harder to import for an American gun owner. On the other hand, you can just buy an AK, unlike us folks up north.

    • You do realize what a fully transferable auto-gun goes for these days, no?

      $12K isn’t currently available in my just-for-shits-and-giggles budget right now, but it really isn’t much in the realm of interesting rifles.

      Just sayin’…

  7. Why would anyone buy this over an M82 Barrett?

    I’m not much interested in a .50 BMG rifle, if I was, it would be one of those $1500 uppers that turn an AR in a single shot bolt action.

Especially if your hunting Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monsters of the USA, The Rake, The NJ Devil —“which I believe is just an all encompassing term for Law Enforcement and Politicians within that area…” Swamp monsters, Dogman and Aliens! Perfect! Now what rounds would someone recommend for the safari ! lol !

  11. There were recent news stories about the manufacturer going under. Not Tactical Imports but I believe Sero. Last 2 weeks or so. I’ve been saving for this gun for some time and was disappointed to read that.

  14. Wow, price was 25000$ for these last I knew. Considering a Barret semi is about 10k$ the GM6 isn’t that bad (newer design, imported, possibly nicer)
