A press release from the National Rifle Association:

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) today announced support for a motion filed in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey to halt the enforcement of New Jersey¹s ban on so-called “high-capacity” magazines until the court rules on the underlying case. The suit was filed today by the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC).

“New Jersey’s unconstitutional and ill-advised magazine ban should not be enforced while being challenged in a court of law,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of NRA-ILA. “The government should not force law-abiding citizens to permanently alter or dispose of lawfully acquired property before their day in court. The NRA stands shoulder to shoulder with the ANJRPC in this fight.”

If granted, the motion would halt enforcement of a new law requiring New Jersey gun owners to dispose of or permanently alter commonly owned ammunition magazines that hold more than ten rounds.

“We thank the NRA for its incredible support and guidance, which made this lawsuit and motion possible,” said ANJRPC executive director Scott Bach.

    • Because they hadn’t totally pissed off a lot of their members back then. Now they have to do something or they are going to completely lose support.

        • Sooo, you’re fine with NFA’34 (very proud of that), FFA’38 (same), GCA’68 (enthusiastically supported that one), Hughes (supposed to fight it, did nothing), bump fire stock ban…

Nothing wrong with your wife sleeping with guys at a competing business, as long as she apologizes and make a nice meal every so often, right?

        • Although half were dead by the time I was born, I do remember my one gramps. He did I. And II.

He used to explain to me the dangers of deficit spending, the insanity of leaving the gold standard, and lots about that MF’n SOB FDR.

But, what exactly does that have to do with the NRA?

        • Everybody in the NRA from 1934, 1938, and 1968 are dust by now. And it was that “greatest generation” that brought all of this gun control crap to us.

    • I was wondering the same thing about shitty York ? COMMIE bastards want to rule us like the English did. We fought back then . we should fight back now. What gives these Leftards the right to remove or alter our second amendment rights ? They must feel entitled to rule. Not !! Govern appropriately or get lost I’m getting another headache over this hoplophobia. Dems are a plague on our society.

    • I suspect they did, but saying things and doing things are very different, er, things.

A press release is all well and good but it’s not that useful.

  1. The government shouldn’t force. Bwhahaahaaahahahaha. Maybe it’s time they should try.

  2. “And if New Jersey keeps enforcing the magazine law, then we will be very upset! So upset that we’ll write another letter saying how upset we are, but this time it will be in all CAPS!!” – NRA

    Dear Mr Cox,

Go buy some politicians. The Left does it. The Left accuses you of doing it. Do it!

    Love,
    California Richard

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t NJ already have a 15 round mag capacity? So all of this is for the 5 extra rounds? They completely abandoned California but now they will get involved pretty much just for those with a G19.

    • Nobody thinks this will do anything REAL to reduce crime, or homicides, or anything. It never does, because criminals don’t give a shit. This is so that whenever a murder is committed in NJ with a 12 round magazine (even if the person fired 3 shots) NJ politicians can demand a FEDERAL law to ban all such objects because obviously the state laws are not sufficient.

Not that they will eliminate such useless laws.

  4. If you live in Jersey you need hip boots and a shovel to wade through the BS!!!!

  5. Jersey, Jersey, Jersey, Ayrshire’s are better milking cows, more cream and better temperament. I’d even take a Guernsey or one of them stick their
head in the fork of a tree dumb Holstein’s over a Jersey.

  6. Join Gun Owners of America. Let the NRA die it’s much deserved death as the traitorous group of bastards it has become.

  7. If they want to ban high capacity magazines, will they ban cars from exceeding 70 MPH?
Require speed limiters on all cars past, present and future when registered in NJ?

After all, if it saves just one life.

  8. NJ already has very restrictive AR-15 rules. You can only have 15 rd mags now! I’m not throwing away 10 mags for NJ state bullshit Leftist laws. I can’t see blocking hex mags for 5 rds. Youn telling me I can’t replace a Mag as fast as I can shoot five rds? Doubtful There can’t be more than a 3-second difference. But that goes to show you that LAWMAKERS THAT KNOW ZERO ABOUT GUNS ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO MAKE LAWS AND DECISIONS ABOUT FIREARMS.
