Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Joe Blanton returned to the baseball team’s rotation Monday—and didn’t make a fool of himself. (Philadelphia lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3). But someone did. ABC News reports that a bro’ was Tased in the City of Brotherly Love. “The fan hopped a fence and scurried around the outfield, eluding two security officers late in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals. One officer used a Taser and the fan went down in a heap. The Phillies say the police department is investigating the matter and discussing with the team whether it’s appropriate use of force under similar circumstances. The teams says it’s the first time a Taser has been used by police to apprehend a spectator who ran onto the field.” TTAG says where’s the video guys? The media outlet’s strap-line: “ABC 2 Works For You.” Not in this case it doesn’t. The TV’s channel’s image—a set of feet next to the bag—reveals the station’s collusion and cowardice. ESPN isn’t showing the clip, either. Did the team’s official site mention the incident? Ha. Thank God for YouTube.

  1. SO, A POLICE INVESTIGATION!? WHAT ARE WE SAYING, THIS MORAN HAD RIGHTS? SHOULD THE COPS HAVE JUST CHASED HIM AROUND LIKE THE "KEYSTONE COPS"FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF THE CROWD?

    I BELIEVE THE RIGHT THING WAS DONE, FEWER MORANS WILL STAY OFF THE FIELD RATHER THAN CHANCE GETTING TASERED NOW.

    I REMEMBER WHEN ANOTHER DRUNK MORAN GOT OUT ON TO THE FIELD AT A BALTIMORE COLT GAME. THE INSTINCTS OF MIKE CURTIS A PARTICULARLY AGRESSIVE MIDDLE LINEBACKER KICKED IN AND HE LEVELED THE GUY. THIS JERK THAN HAD THE AUDACITY TO SUE CURTIS BECAUSE HIS RIGHTS WERE VIOLATED. WELL, LAWYERS WILL DO ANYTHING FOR MONEY! IN THIS CASE IBELIEVE THE OFFICER SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR DEMONSTRATING GOOD JUDGEMENT.

    • Just because he's a "Moran" doesn't mean he doesn't have rights. As a fellow Irish-American, I think ALL Morans should have rights. Even "morons" should have rights. And yes, I do think the cops should have chased that 17 year old boy all over the field rather than taser him in front of thousands of youngsters.

    I think you meant MORE "morons" will stay off the field now. Otherwise, the hopes of being tasered by police could lead to thousands of people hopping the wall.
