I love it when life imitates art. You know, like when you see something in some Hollywood flick, and you say to yourself, “Self, that could NEVER happen in real life.” But then you find out it can. Has. Did. As in “Afghanistan” and “British sniper” and “two kills with one bullet.” But the details are better than anything Hollywood could dream up…

Back around September 12, a British sniper, we’ll call him “Mark Osmond,” spied two of the Taliban’s Finest. As they were sporting walkie-talkies, they qualified as “hostiles.” ‘Osmond’ fired two warning shots from his pistol into the air. (Gotta love how those Brits have such an overly-developed sense of fair play.)

He then limbered-up his L96 sniper rifle and let one fly, pulling a “Quigley.” For those of you who are not Tom Selleck fans, Quigley Down Under was a 1990 flick about a Western sharpshooter. He used a 1874 Sharps Buffalo Rifle, bringing down two men with one shot.

Did I mention that the Talibanians were on a motorcycle? Attempting to flee? And “Osmond’s” shot missed both ears of Taliban #1 guy by about 2 inches, and then provided the same air conditioning service call to Taliban #2 guy, virtually instantaneously? Yep. Two baddies down, with one shot. Now THAT’s conservation of ammo.

  1. “Osmond’s” shot missed both ears of Taliban #1 guy by about 2 inches, and then provided the same air conditioning service call to Taliban #2 guy, virtually instantaneously?

lulz. At ~2500FPS, assuming their heads were ~18 inches apart, Osmond completely missed both of Taliban #2’s ears 0.0006 seconds later.

  2. Now the question is when is someone going to pull off the trick shots named after characters from Indiana Jones and the last crusade.

Dr. Jones: Where you squirt a man in the face with a fountain pen blinding him so that he kills himself with his own ricochet.

Indiana Jones: Kill 4 men with 1 pistol shot.

    How long must we wait????
