We knew this day would come and it has. Our old pal Senator Richard “Dick” Durbin announced yesterday that passing gun control will be a top priority for his Senate Judiciary Committee. Yes, the Land of Lincoln career politician says what he means and means what he says. And limiting civilian gun rights has long been a priority for Democrat Dick.
Speaking of saying what he means, Dick Durbin is the same guy who disparaged American troops with vile and reprehensible remarks on the Senate floor.
“If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control. You would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings.”
We will have to see how long the Democrats’ empty pledge to respect the Senate filibuster remains in place. As it stands now, Democrats will need 60 votes in the Senate to pass a gun control bill – or convince ten Republicans to join Democrats.
Currently, with everyone seeing a palpable level of seething voter anger at House Republicans who voted for the second impeachment of President Donald Trump, finding ten GOP Senators willing to give up their seats in the next election will be a tall order.

Democrats enjoy a slim majority in the Senate with Vice President Kamala Harris able to cast tie-breaking votes, a partisan split that makes sweeping, new gun-control legislation difficult to pass. Durbin’s control of the Judiciary Committee, however, will allow him to shape America’s legal landscape. His ability to shepherd President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees to federal courts could play a decisive role in numerous gun-rights cases. The committee also oversees federal law that regulates firearms, including the federal gun background check system.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa), the committee’s top Republican, said he hopes Durbin will pursue similar gun initiatives to the past Congress instead of attempting to push through sweeping liberal changes.
“Unduly abridging or regulating those rights, especially if it’s through a strictly partisan process, is wrong,” Grassley told the Washington Free Beacon. “I hope, if Senator Durbin chooses to focus on this issue, it will be with a bipartisan, consensus-building approach.”
Before you head to your shed to find your pitchfork and a torch or two, keep in mind that Grassley’s idea of bipartisan projects includes things like Fix NICS.

Logically I don’t see how seizing once legal property off people who have done no wrong is going to share wealth to those less fortunate, right historic wrongs, and guide us into a new utopia.

I should post what Senators Durbin and Duckworth have replied to me about Heller can be used to restrict firearm rights of citizens of the U.S., Heller does not guarantee those rights, and other 2nd Amendment issues that are of great concern to us as a 2nd Amendment community. Living in Illinois is bad enough with the FOID card, but everyone else in the country does not need these types of restrictions on their 2nd Amendment rights. Does not matter how many times you write to address your 2nd Amendment concerns to Senators Durbin and Duckworth. Their message is almost identical when they send you a reply. Your rights do not matter and we are going to take them away without your consent. I wish we could post correspondence from our representatives on TTAG so people can see what we have to deal with in Commiecratic controlled and firearm restricted states like Illinois and other states. If you’d like to do something, take a moment to contact Senator Joe Manchin. He’s publically stated he’s opposed to removing the filibuster or packing the court. Thank him. Tell him you support him because of his principaled stance. Be polite and respectful. Staffers count these contacts and assign points to them as a way of helping the senator decide how to vote on the issues. Right now, Manchin seems like he isn’t ready to cave to the radical left base of his party. He also might be a monkey wrench on gun control. If he gets enough support for his current position, who knows. He might actually stick to it.

I disagree with Mahatma that American’s were apathetic at the ballot box, I don’t know of anyone who didn’t vote. But our vote was stolen from us. There is too much evidence for it. and he is right, they’ve been planning on disarming the American people for a long, long time, in spite of our Constitution and the Second Amendment of the Bill Of Rights. I imagine most of us will comply when they remove that basic right; just like all the other people in countries that have fallen under the fog of Communism or Fascism…

It amazes me, mr durbin (used lower case ’cause he is so tiny) – I have had a rifle in one of my bedroom wardrobes since I moved here some 33 years ago, and NOT ONCE, has it EVER left the spot where I have it placed to go out and kill or maim someone. I just find it amazing the libtards ALWAYS find the guns at fault, never the owners!
There are 400+million gun owners here in American not counting hunting bows, crossbows, and blowgun owners. Hell, we have a freaking army!! A Big army!! There a lot of war vets alive that have a grudge against our government for the way they treated them trying to defend this Great Nation and keep her FREE!!
We (Law Enforcement, military, and politicians) that have taken the Oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America and meant it wholeheartedly (some were dang liars) should still stand on that oath!! I plan to keep my oath taken twice (Once as a soldier, once as a policeman) until the day the Good Lord calls me home.
People get it right!! GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE!! PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!! PUNISH THE CRIMINAL MORE AND LESS ON GUNS!! If they did take our guns the only people that would have them are the criminals!! Man was killing centuries ago before guns were even invented!! If a man or woman gets mad enough they could make a weapon or take a knife and kill whomever they pleased!!
There are a lot of good law-abiding citizens that have guns to hunt food for their family, defend their homes, use in pro-competition, or just enjoy target practicing. Gun safety should be taught at home!! Stand up for your Constitutional Rights and the Freedom God gave you!! God put all of us here (Red, Yellow, Black, Brown, and White to get along with each other and love each other as He loves us!! GOD IS NOT A RACIST!! HE IS COLORBLIND AND SEES US AS ONE COLOR!! HE SEES NO RICH OR POOR BECAUSE WE ARE ALL MADE EQUAL IN HIS SIGHT!! All He sees is those that are His (washed in the blood of Jesus Christ) and those who are lost souls that will burn in Hell for Eternity!! Judgement Day is coming soon!!

If you have to defend yourself, family, or others, and shoot and kill the aggressor, then you are guilty of premeditated murder. You bought the firearm anticipating you might have to use it at some point, didn’t you? Ain’t legalese wonderful?
