At SHOT Show’s Range Day we all put some rounds downrange with Franklin Armory‘s new binary trigger for the Ruger 10/22. So much fun! Frankly, a binary trigger for the 10/22 makes far more sense to me than for the other firearms Franklin makes ’em for, so I’d say it’s about time. Three-way selector, clean break and nice pull weight . . . it’s a hit.

Illegal in Florida…
That sucks. When Florida banned bumpstocks I bought a 10/22 kit from a guy there, sucked to be that guy…then the ATF banned them for the rest of us…sucks to be the rest of us. At least binary hasn’t followed.
Binary triggers are here to stay unless Congress changes the law.. From the ATF ruling on Bump stocks: “While semiautomatic firearms may shoot one round when the trigger is pulled, the shooter must release the trigger before another round is fired. Even if this release results in a second shot being fired, it is as the result of a separate function of the trigger. This is also the reason that binary triggers cannot be classified as machine guns.”

The Fed didn’t make them illegal in Florida, the state of Florida made them illegal.
Can any of TTAG’s crack legal team verify or deny that Florida indeed can ban binaries at the drop of a hat?

Your not the only one. I’ve looked for over a year now. And 22 ammo is still very cheap.
There are tommy gun and M249 conversion kits out there. (smile)
can you bump fire a semi-auto that has a binary trigger? Would the mechanics work?
Never tried that, honestly, keeping an AR running ok in a bumpstock was challenging enough, the 10/22 for me at least, was even trickier to bump a full mag no stop.
I guess the recoil of 22 LR probably really isn’t enough to bump, right? I’ve never tried it before but next time I get out to my parent’s land I plan to try on my mini-14, dump some 20 round magazines in the process. I don’t see how it would work on a binary trigger but was just curious.
In a bumpstock it’s just barely enough. Slidefire made a muzzle device that was supposed to increase recoil to aid cycling. Didn’t get a chance to try it before the ban.
