It’s been a hell of a ride recently. The Orlando massacre, two high-profile police-involved shootings, and the Dallas racist police attack. While the mainstream media has gone into full civilian disarmament mode the TTAG team has been reporting facts and fisking the torrent of anti-gun agitprop. As a result, we’ve been a bit “news heavy” hereabouts.
Have no fear: our gun writers are working on non-current events-related firearms content. While Nick’s up to his eyeballs in code — crafting on our commercially crucial customized email system — Jon Wayne Taylor, Jeremy S., myself, Joe Grine, Tyler, Dan, Sara and other freelancers are trying to pick-up the slack.
Meanwhile, we know that celebrating America’s gun culture is critical to defending our natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. So, to increase actual gun stuff, we’re asking you, our Armed Intelligentsia, to contribute a gun review to the cause.
The review deemed best by our Managing Editor will receive one of the best handguns we’ve ever reviewed: RF’s personal, lightly-fired SIG SAUER P229 Legion. The very gun pictured above. But wait, there’s more! The second place entrant will receive $250 cash money. Third gets a box-fresh Benjamin ($100). Contest deadline: August 1.
A little homework first!
Click here to make sure TTAG hasn’t already reviewed the firearm you’d like to review. (Feel free to review an “old” gun.) Then click here for our gun review guidelines. In general, follow the format of any existing review. Don’t forget specs and star ratings! Humor and the occasional firearms-related digressions are a feature, not a bug.
Write it up, take great pics, send the text in the body of an email with jpegs attached to [email protected]. Put the words “GUN REVIEW” and the model reviewed in the subject bar, all caps. Like this: GUN REVIEW SIG SAUER P229 LEGION. Only not that one.
Bonus! TTAG’s looking to take on another gun reviewer. The pay sucks but the reviewer gets testing and evaluation models — new guns! — to review. Not to mention the occasional junket and gear. We’ll choose one or maybe even two new writers based on the submissions. Good luck! And thanks for helping us tell the truth about guns.

In my last review I blame the Brown Bess musket for the extinction of the dinosaurs and climate change. Al Gore is flying me to Stockholm on his private jet for that bit of scientific genius.

Funny I had the ability to shoot the Brown Bess at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. They built a new range for muskets in March of 2016. If you ever visit I suggest you sign up for the experience.

What about different generations or models of guns you’ve reviewed like a first gen 941 Jericho “Baby Eagle” along with a comparison or a Star BM as opposed to [the big] Star B? (A little Hemingway for you there.)

If I had an interesting gun that hadn’t already been reviewed, could turn a phrase, had an eye for detail, went shooting more and had some motivation, I’d do this.

What qualifies a gun for review? That it exists? That it is or was a production model at one time? Or is it open to anything, say something built to spec? Or limited runs long since gone?
Anything as long as it’s a gun and we haven’t reviewed it already.
So, then we’re good for a .22 pistol conversion kit review, so long as you have not already reviewed it?
Now that I live in NY I need about 2 months notice before “they” allow me to buy a firearm that isn’t already on the reviewed list. Unless I go behind the office building I work in and buy one on the street for $200 tomorrow.
The sig p250 fullsize and compact has been reviewed can i submit one on the subcompact?
