From SilencerCo . . .

SilencerCo is launching a 2.0 version of their iconic Osprey 9 and Osprey 45 suppressors. The Osprey 2.0 has the addition of one very important feature – a button. This button will enhance the user experience and make this suppressor easier to use (and it looks better than ever). The Osprey 2.0 will begin shipping this month.

The Osprey 2.0 uses a single button to properly index to a host firearm. This will make the Osprey more robust, more reliable and allow for a quick and secure alignment. It will also make the suppressor more repeatable, meaning the shooter will be able to consistently put it in the same position on every firearm. Previous Osprey versions used a lever mechanism to align the suppressor.

Aside from the magic button, everything else about the Osprey 2.0 is essentially the same as the original. It still has the same impressive sound signature and eccentric design to accommodate standard pistol sights.

“Our goal is to create the best user experience possible,” said SilencerCo Product Manager, Andrew Herbst. “By simplifying the indexing system on the Osprey, we have taken a top performing product and made it quicker and easier to use.”

One thing customers need to keep in mind is that the Osprey 2.0 is not retrofittable with old Osprey parts. Due to the placement of the ATF required serial number on the back cap, anyone needing to send in their original Osprey to SilencerCo’s warranty department will receive a repaired suppressor with the same lever mechanism. Customers will continue to be taken care of and can have their original Osprey serviced, it just won’t be replaced with the new button system.

Product Specifications:

  • New indexing button for fast and secure alignment
  • Eccentric offset design allows for use of most factory pistol sights
  • Osprey 9 2.0: weighs 8.8 oz. and is 6.9” long
  • Osprey 45 2.0: weighs 9.2 oz. and is 7.9” long
  • Constructed of aluminum and 17-4 stainless steel
  • Compatible with pistons and fixed barrel spacers
  • Can be shot “wet” by using 5cc of water or wire-pulling gel

      .
I’m going to make it a point and visit with a few other fellow possums, preferably some who survived Woodstock.
It seems certain words trigger a song and then I’m hearing it and forget what someone was talking about.
Oh yeah $900+tax and Uncle Sam’s permission slip to get a push button gunm muffler with a birds name.
Sorry I 4ag on the silencers and silencer companies, however the hoops the gov makes us jump through to get them is ridiculous and then add in the money. Just ain’t worth it.
Beans, beans is the future, *phhhhhhhttttttflaapapapap* tax that uncle sam

      • The funny thing about money is, it’s meant to be used for something. Otherwise it’s just a number in a computer or some pieces of paper in your wallet.

One shouldn’t give up rent or food for a suppressor, but they are a ton of fun, especially with “easy” calibers like .22LR, .45ACP, and—surprise!—.40S&W. They’re less useful for the casual shooter in supersonic-only or impossible-to-find-subsonic calibers.

But if your safe is full of old blued steel and walnut guns, it can be a tough hill to climb because now you need different guns to make use of the can…or at least new barrels in the case of the pistols.

        • Surprising! I’ve been creating a hundred greenbacks associate hour since I started freelance on the web six months ago. I work long hours daily from home and do the essential work that i buy from the business I met online.xd35) share this work for you chance this is often undoubtedly the simplest job I even have ever done move to this link…………… http://googlepay01.pages.dev

  2. A nice upgrade. Kinda of a PITA to index a new/recently disassembled Osprey if you have a WML or laser on a pistol. It tends to end up exactly in the path of that lever.

With a WML it’s not a huge deal, just remove it, index the can and the put the light back on. Lasers obviously require rezeroing after the operation is complete. And cleaning up the piston/spring/retainer every few hundred rounds is definitely something you want to do.

  3. $US 840 for a bloody MODERATOR, nothing ‘silences’ a supersionic projectile unless it somehow seriuously reduces the MV and accuracy. $840? Have the American wannabe Rambo’s got completely mad?

    • Something something broken clock
      Something something broken record
      Something something no one cares
      Have a nice day 🙂

      • No, their waste of money is measured in quid (that’s pounds sterling, bloke)

    • $840 is retail. Nobody prices these at retail, it’s closer to $740.

45 is naturally subsonic. 9mm is readily available in subsonic loads, as is 300 blackout for pistols and rifles. 40 is generally subsonic as well.

Next time you bring some goofy britbong opinion to a forum, do about 30 seconds of research, you absolute potato. It will save us all a trip down to the chemist for some paracetamol.

  4. SiCo has gotten tired of fixing those Ospreys. A steel lever that engages an ALUMINUM locking device…gee I wonder what happens?

I used to switch my 45 around quite a bit…but after a trip back to SiCo, it now sits on one gun full-time. The 2.0 looks like a great choice for going back and forth.

TTAG, what’s with the garbage comments section? Take out the trash and make this for gun nuts, not spammers, scammers, and mental defectives.

    • Yeah get rid of the mental detectives for sure.
While your at it get rid of the metal detectors.
It’s not Conspiracy or Paranoia, the mental detectives sniff us out(redflag) then show up with their metal detectors and find all our gunms.

  5. Willian Wallace has an excellent point.
My Osprey 45 has a tendency to get stuck on the end of my CZ Scorpion.
When I unscrew it, the adapter comes off the gun with it.
High heat is then needed to separate the two.
I’ve taken to using rocksett to keep the adapter on the barrel and shotgun choke lube on the Osprey threads.
I do like my Osprey. Fired wet, it reduces subsonic 9 to hearing safe levels.
The steel clang is louder that the gun report.
