Springfield Armory Releases the Prodigy 9mm in Coyote Brown

1. When 20+ becomes the norm in even handgun mags it makes it more difficult to suggest that 30 rounds in a rifle magazine is “high capacity.” Keep going, all manufacturers should offer this option, if not for their popularity, to further support the normality of capacity.

2. Why does the market need yet another 9mm?? Equally why does a bloody HANDGUN need a X30round Magazine?? I cannot imagine ANYTHING so bloody awkward. surely in any scenario worth even considering 13 0r 14 rounds are MORE than sufficient

   • I had a situation where I had to use three 15 round magazines, if I had run out of ammo my wife and I would have both died. When it was over I had three rounds left.

     The fact is this: Unless you have a time machine to go into the future to check, or can predict the future, you never really know how much ammo you will need or what will happen in the future. And anyone that tells you something like “OH, you only need 10 rounds” or “no one needs a 30 round magazine” should be ignored for they are truly stupid people. And sure, maybe some people would never use 15 or 30 rounds in a defense situation … but there are plenty of documented cases where people have had to use multiple 15 or 30 round magazines in defense situations. The point is, you never know how much ammo you will really need until you need it. For example, personally, I do not want my family or myself or others to be seriously injured or killed because in some defense situation that could not be predicted because some idiot on the internet or some left winger or some anti-gun person or some politician decided that I could only have 5 or 10 round magazines and reloading under fire or threat with lower capacity magazines makes you more vulnerable to the threat because it increases the times you are not able to fire to defend against the threat and that frequent reload gap can be exploited by the threat to advance on you.

     Why do you think the police or military uses 15 or 30 round magazines? Its because they know they must carry as much ammo as they can for they do not know how much they will actually need against a threat and frequent reloading due to less capacity magazines makes them more vulnerable to the threat. We are no different.

     So Albert… are you now claiming you can predict the future or have a time machine?

     Who are you to make a judgement as to what a person may need in a future event?

       Lets limit people to a fixed amount of medical care in life. Say, five times.

3. Why is Springfield Armory able to remain in business? Answer: they pay campaign contributions to bribe pro-civilian disarmament politicians in Illinois.

   I encourage everyone to spend their firearm dollars at manufacturers who do not actively assist politicians in their efforts to disarm us. That means NOT spending your money on Springfield Armory.

6. Where the article said “27+1 rounds of 9mm” it should have said “17+1 rounds of 9mm.”
   The standard magazine is 17-round (not 27-rounds), while the extended magazines are 20-round and 26-round.
   Please correct the second sentence where it says, “it holds an impressive 27+1 rounds of 9mm, with a a spare extended mag offering 20+1 capacity. There’s even an optional 26-round magazine available.”
