Stacey Abrams really wants to become the next governor of Georgia. Badly. Four years ago she ran and lost, yet she claimed she won the race and was the rightful governor.
Now she’s back, championing causes such as defunding the police, gun control for the little people, along with a raft of other criminal-friendly policies. So imagine the general surprise it caused when her expense reports revealed she’s spent $1.2 million on private security since announcing her 2022 campaign for the Peach State governor’s seat.
Abrams thinks rather highly of herself. She must. After all, she’s spending over a million dollars of other peoples’ money to protect her from imagined “threats” during this campaign.

Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has spent $1.2 million in private security for her campaign since December.
Abrams paid $400,000 from July to August to Executive Protection Agencies, an Atlanta-based private security firm, according to Fox News.
“EPA security personnel combine a keen eye with a thorough knowledge of the venue through threat assessment,” the firm’s website said.
Meanwhile, on the campaign trail she’s talking about more hard-left criminal justice policies that will only lead to higher crime. From her website . . .
Georgians want safe communities and justice for our people- and I’m committed to advancing both. We must decriminalize poverty and ensure real support for returning citizens, as well as pursuing holistic policies to reduce the social determinants that lead to crime. At the same time, we will advocate fair compensation for law enforcement and correctional officers, while also holding them accountable and improving transparency and policies like de-escalation and use of force. My approach is comprehensive and models the work of former Governor Deal’s historic criminal justice achievements in the state, successful work that the current governor has failed to continue, which leaves our state less safe and less just.
Literally no one is criminalizing poverty. We criminalize criminal behavior no matter the socio-economic class of the accused. Equal justice for all. Clearly “equal justice for all” is not at the forefront of Ms. Abram’s mind.
She also serves as co-chair of a group that advocates for additional “Defund the Police” initiatives. From the Washington Examiner:
Georgia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams has co-chaired another organization that has given out lump sums of money to black activists across the country, some of whom want to defund and abolish the police, despite claiming she does not want to take money away from officers.
Abrams, who is in a tight race against incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp, has tried to distance herself from the rhetoric of the #DefundThePolice movement. Her campaign has repeatedly said her views do not align with some of the more radical calls these organizations subscribe to, though her participation in them seems to indicate otherwise.
This time, it’s the Black Voices for Black Justice Fund. Abrams was announced its co-chair in April 2021 and released a statement that she was “honored” and “excited” to join because it “puts black leaders in the driver’s seat — with black activists on the ground who understand how racism plays out in their community defining both the problem and the solutions.”

As governor, I will pursue policies to strengthen gun safety laws in Georgia because we can protect the Second Amendment and protect second graders in our state. In a way we do criminalize poverty. Driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license because you didn’t have insurance, no registration tickets. I used to call it criminalizing white trash behavior but it really all boils down to money and the lack thereof. It got so bad that I wouldn’t even arrest people for outstanding traffic warrants or issues new citations when I pulled them over and found that they had a stack of them already. This kind of BS is why I got out of law enforcement. The really low pay also made me seek greener pastures
