The new Taurus Raging Hunter chambered in .454 Casull joins the original .44 Magnum and the recently introduced .357 Magnum offered in the Raging Hunter series hunting-revolver platform.

The Taurus Raging Hunter earned the 2019 American Hunter Handgun of the Year Golden Bullseye Award for its design, reliability, and value. Ergonomics and shooter comfort come by way of the revolver’s exceptional balance, lightweight barrel housing, and cushioned insert grips. A sleeved barrel construction, factory-tuned porting, and a gas-expansion chamber reduce muzzle rise.

Available in three barrel lengths — 8.375, 6.75, and 5.125 inches — the .454 Casull Raging Hunter features a spurred hammer, DA/SA action, and a five-round cylinder. It is available in two frame colors — matte black or stainless — with matte black barrels and cylinders. An integrated Picatinny rail provides easy optic mounting. Shooters who prefer open sights also have a fully adjustable rear sight for precision zeroing.

  1. Not only no but hell no. Not because it’s a Taurus. If I need a .454 then I need a rifle. And for want, again, hell no. Makes my arthritis flare up just looking at it.

These days anything heavier than a .357 is a no go for more than a couple of rounds.

  2. Had a few chances to shoot 454 Casull back in the ’90s. I recall only firing 2 rounds the first session, and 3 rounds the second session. You better damn sure due the job with the first round, because only those with Jerry M skills can get respectable follow-up shot times.
This is from someone who shoots and enjoys their stainless/ported DEagle Mk XIX 50AE (fitted with a SIG Romeo4S RDS) on a regular basis.
Actually had 3 people (my 2 sons and myself) put over 300rds thru it during a range session back in March.
Funny how Texas pawn shops/used gun dealers always have an impressive selection of used, big bore/high power revolvers on hand (all with VERY little wear). Seems like many purchasers experience buyers remorse.

  3. Beautiful, yes please in the 5″ model! Looks a lot easier to carry than my 8: Bbl Raging Bull. I’m guessing it to be a bit snappier though, but great insurance to carry as a backup.

The challenge with these is the price of ammo. Helps a whole bunch if you handload. You can always work up a lighter load if your hands are tender or the prey is small. To a degree.

I loaded some 200 gr. “flying ashtrays” with 5 grains less powder for a javelina hunt. Still turned the critter inside-out. Ooops.

Been shooting .454 since the days when it was a wildcat, and people were still experimenting with triplex loads (3 different powders in the case). Freedom Arms was about the only OEM building them back then. It’s great that the cartridge took hold and went commercial. Hotter than a .44 mag but not as nasty as a .500 S&W.

  4. I like it !!!, I already have a 460 Mag, stainless steel that shoots the 460 Mag, 454 casull & 45 long colt, the 460 mag will make your butt pucker, but the 454 is no problem, I pack it in grizzly bear country all summer long, gives me a sense of security knowing that there is nothing around here , including the moose & cougars & can’t forget the creepy wolves that will give me a problem, & there are a lot of all those things at my place. Anyway, nice gun.

  5. ¡¡¡ WOW !!!! And I was worried about other (nice looking Tracker Series in .357/.44 magnum And others.) less caliber Taurus Revolvers from blowing up ,or breaking! Now they up the ante!!! With an handheld atomic canon !!!! 💣💣💣🔥🔥🔥✨✨💥💥💥💥💥
Sorry, YouTube channel rumors over the years!
