Do not call this band of reckless revisionists on the court conservatives, by the way. Nothing about what they are doing is “conservative,” nor should you call them “strict constructionalists” or “originalists,” as their decisions disregard legal precedent, the spirit of the Constitution, and often craft citations for their decisions from whole cloth.

One recent example, last week’s decision ending New York’s restrictions on carrying a concealed handgun, offers a prime example of this. In it, Thomas cited the Second and 14th Amendments as guaranteeing Americans the right to carry a handgun.

Go read them. They do nothing of the sort. Handguns are not mentioned in the Constitution. But then again, as many have pointed out, neither are women. And it seems unlikely Thomas would like to return to the original view of the Constitution that permitted his relatives to be held as slaves.

The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West. It should also be noted that they are profoundly out of step with the opinion of Americans—as are many of this Supreme Court majority’s views (like those of their GOP sponsors.) Major majorities of Americans support sensible gun controls, the right of a woman to get an abortion, and even decisions like Roe itself.

  1. They love mob rule as long as they believe their own echo chamber.

Roe for example. If they honestly believes their own echo chamber they should be thrilled because according to their philosophy of “popular ideas” and “mob rule” those red states restricting abortion should be flipping blue in due time and the era of the Republican governor is coming to an end.

Maybe they don’t actually believe their own propaganda and deep down they know the NY ruling will actually prove popular. Well, for everyone that’s not a racist, classist, gate keeping elitist anyway.

    • ya know what Rothkopf’s nonsense sounds like…. a lot of “WHAAAaaaaaa, we want our way, we didn’t get our way…. no fair… i’m gonna hold my breath till I turn blue if you don’t give me what I want”

These types have a very hard time dealing with not getting what they want and not having control over others.

      • They have a hard time understanding that the primary purpose of the Constitution is to list instructions for government and restrictions ON government and then declare that these are ‘The Law of the Land.”

And the primary purpose of THAT was to ensure that the society had a firm base (constitution) that could not be altered willy-nilly by the passing whims of the majority.

The author also seems to forget that there is a provision in that Constitution to add to or alter such things as become important to a sufficient super-majority, Article V, and that the 13th and 14th amendments abolished slavery and gave the freed slaves full rights. It is based on those amendments that an “originalist” such as Justice Thomas can base his opinion on, as he states in his ruling, “THE PLAIN TEXT” of the document (as amended) in each and every instance, especially in regards to slavery.

        • Thank you for actually having read – and understood – the Constitution… It’s to LIMIT what the gov’t can & can’t do, NOT to limit We the People.

        • “the Constitution… It’s to LIMIT what the gov’t can & can’t do, NOT to limit We the People.”

The past few days, I’ve been experimenting with ways to express that, here’s one of the candidate versions :

“For those that insist the right to keep (personally own) and bear (to keep on your person) only belongs to the military, why would the government need to give itself permission to be armed? They can just do it.”

      • RE: “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.”

Ride ’em Cowboy!!! Finished assembling another carbine yesterday, should have been mowing but what the heck. Ingredients are as follows: Anderson stripped lower receiver that fit snug with a Aero Precision M4E1 stripped upper, FN 20-100046 chrome lined barrel, Angstadt BCG, Rise RA-212 charge handle, CMMG A1 length buttstock assembly, easy to time Noveske USGI flash hider/washer, nice Sadlak rail height 3 screw aluminum gas block, Spikes nitride gas tube, Luth-Ar LPK, USGI silent sling, 1 Talon sling swivel, B-King’s PT-M4-7.25 float M-LOK handguard, Aero Precision carry handle with a sight tower guide pin installed, import rail mounted A2 style front sight; both converted to night sights.
Unless you have the correct screws on hand to replace the CMMG A1 Stock Allen-head screws pay the extra for a Fulton Armory assembly. Also Rise charge handles can require minor fitting so pay the extra for a BCM. Besides assembly techniques the heartbeat of this rifle is the Aero upper receiver, flawless FN barrel and the Angstadt BCG.

        • Debbie W.

Seems like you regularly build guns. Nice hobby!

Haven’t tried…maybe when I retire….that is, if the planet is still in one piece when I retire.

        • Lifesavor, when you have your upper and LPK let me know. You can come visit and make your own fantastic plastic lower 😉

        • LifeSavor,

As one who has built multiple custom guns for my collection, I offer this caution: once you complete your first, you immediately find yourself wanting to build another.

        • Haz,
” . . .once you complete your first, you immediately find yourself wanting to build another.”

Truer words were never spoken!. I was at least smart enough to do my first “build” as a full build (no kits, no “assembled” uppers or lowers – literally built the trigger group and bolt carrier group from parts), because . . . I wanted to be INTIMATELY familiar with every part of that gun. And I built it (mostly) “milspec” (OK, not a big fan of the milspec trigger, so I cheated and upgraded on that). And it functions fine, but . . . I wanted better.

I’m now working on my fourth, which is intended to be a “high-end” AR. It’s like eating potato chips, “Betcha can’t eat just one!” I couldn’t. And I’m not even that big a fan of the AR platform . . . although I will admit that my third build, an upgraded .300 Blackout build, is pretty damn cool!

After I finish number 4, I plan to do an AR-10 build. Looking forward to the process. Gun builds are like crack for gun geeks.

        • Almost forgot…Add to the list JP oversize .156″ hammer and trigger pins. And if necessary add shims from TriggerShims.com. I used four .004″ shims for this build.
The JP Pins require removing the hammer J spring. To remove the J first raise the hook end enough to verify the pin twists easily. Next form a 45 degree point on a suitable size quality punch, square the end like a mini chisel. With the hammer secured carefully shear the J Spring towards the hook end without over-travel to leave a bit of the pin exposed towards the hammer end. Use a sewing pin, etc. to pry the tiny short end out or wack the hammer on a hardwood block or aluminum block until it drops out.

        • @Lamp,

I have a .300 BLK build. By far my favorite. I like the venerable 5.56, of course, but if I could have only one MBR, it would be one of my Blackouts. There’s just something about that punchy cartridge that tickles me more than 5.56. It’s a .30-cal bullet in an AR-15 platform, right in between 5.56 and .308.

          Me likey muy mucho.

    • Yuppers.
I read just yesterday that the State of New Jersey have begun taking the steps to make their Mother May I Card proceedures, SHALL ISSUE rather than the Probably WOn’t Issue” they’ve mainteind for far too long. One case out of NJ came before SCOTUS a couple years back, they changed the law a little and Cert was denied. I rather think they had already settled on NYSRPA as their landmark case. So alreadym one tyrannical state system is folding in direct response to this one.

Hooray. There remain abour five more to fall.

      • You’re not kidding.

        {She’s relating something the leader of Dubai said.}

“My grandfather rode a camel. My father rode a camel. I ride a Mercedes. My son will ride a Land Rover. My grandson will ride a Land Rover. But my great-grandson will have to ride a camel again.”

When asked why, he responded –

“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create easy times. Easy times create weak men. And weak men create difficult times.

Many will not understand it, but we need to create warriors, not parasites. Add to that the historical reality that all great empires – The Persians, the Trojans, the Greeks, the Romans, the Egyptians, later the British, all rose and perished, within 240 years. They were not conquered by external enemies, they were rotten and destroyed from within.

America has reached that 240 year mark, and it is starting to become visible and accelerating. We are past the Mercedes and Land Rover years. The camels are now on the horizon. The greatest generation consisted of 18 year-old kids that stormed the beaches of Normandy. And now, just two generations later, some kids, some 18 year-olds want to hide in a ‘safe room’ when words hurt their feelings. They want ‘free stuff’ from the government because they feel they are entitled to it. The camels are on the horizon for sure. History has a funny way of repeating itself. The camels are on the horizon…”

        Yikes. 🙁

  2. “One recent example, last week’s decision ending New York’s restrictions on carrying a concealed handgun, offers a prime example of this. In it, Thomas cited the Second and 14th Amendments as guaranteeing Americans the right to carry a handgun.

Go read them. They do nothing of the sort. Handguns are not mentioned in the Constitution.”

reading maranda rights warnings to suspects is also not mentioned in the constitution, but here we are with you having a right to be read your rights if you are arrested as a suspect in a crime.

This guy is an idiot. Thomas context was clearly the Second and 14th Amendments collectively guarantee a right to self defense and to do and under the second amendment a hand gun can be carried for that purpose. So collectively both the Second and 14th Amendments guarantee a right to self defense, and separately as well but the second allows on to be armed to exercise the right under the 14th and the Second.

This is favorite trick of the anti-gun, an out of context interpretation that seems kinda close but under close examination is revealed to be false.

The constitution also does not mention a journalists must have a brain, and in this case that is too bad.

    • The constitution explicitly states ARMS, handgun qualify as ARMS. Its simple english language people.

      • I thought the arms thing is pretty clear but he said ‘handguns’ so…. Of course the left anti-gun would accuse me of not seeing it their way.

        • Before the progs are done “arms” will ONLY refer to an abortionist’s tools. Tie both of their religious totems together with nice tide RED bow.

        • He also said, “The 2nd Amendment extends to “ALL” instruments that constitute “bearable” arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding”.

        • Well, in combat my CAR-15 ‘Shorty’ carbine was so light that I sometimes used it one handed as a pistol and firing cover while running with an ammo can or bag of frags in the other hand to a position. Old .30 M-1 carbine paratrooper models with the pistol grip were also good one handed shooters. So in that context it could be proven that the terms are interchangeable and not exclusive of each other depending upon simply how you hold and fire the weapon. So it would be at best a moot point in arguing the intentionally all-encompassing language of all ‘bearable’ arms, and obviously, in this case an example of the extremes of stupid absurdity the Marxists will stoop to in their obscene addiction to disarm everybody.

    • .40, SCOTUS basically overturned Miranda in 2022. In reality everyone still reads Miranda to everyone because the jury watches television, but don’t keep up with SCOTUS rulings. I remember because it made big ripples in the LE community back in the day.

        • Exactly. That’s the same reason Roe was overturned. The left just doesn’t have enough brain matter to wrap it around what is obvious to the rest of the nation.

    • you said: but the second allows on to be armed to exercise the right under the 14th and the Second.

      Minor adjustment required here:
The second DOES NOT “allow” me to be armed. It commands government not to interfere or limit that preexisting God given right. Essentially, I have that right not in result of anything the COnstituoion says, but because the God who made me and gives me breath also gives me the right/duty to protect that gift He has goven me, and that of others for whom I may be responsible. As in, my family fellow citizens, even the “stranger” at the side of the road in trouble.

  3. “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.” Hunh. So, allowing law-abiding Americans who want to be able to defend themselves using firearms, and who have the right to do so under the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution, is a “return to the murderous free for all of the American West”… Do you really believe that guns and arms of every possible type are not available 24/7/365 to anyone with enough money or willing to part with something else of value in return??? Do you really believe that people aren’t “murdered” all day every day by those in some position of power or another??? Do you really believe that those with power really need firearms to kill??? Do you really believe that all the layers upon layers of laws restricting firearm ownership for law-abiding Americans really do anything except make it harder for law-abiding Americans to be able to defend themselves, and thus easier to “murder”???

And what’s with this “hard right” rhetoric??? Is everyone who wants their rights affirmed and upheld “hard right”??? Are YOU “hard right” because you want your freedom of speech – and freedom of the press – affirmed and upheld???

“It should also be noted that they are profoundly out of step with the opinion of Americans—as are many of this Supreme Court majority’s views (like those of their GOP sponsors.) Major majorities of Americans support sensible gun controls, the right of a woman to get an abortion, and even decisions like Roe itself.” Hunh. I’d truly like to know exactly WHICH Americans you believe are “the majority” or the “major majority”… Because I believe there are great swaths of Americans that YOU certainly have not asked for their opinions re. these subjects. I believe you ASSUME you know what the “major majority of Americans” want. And, you should very well know what someone who makes ASSUMPTIONS really makes them.

    • “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.” The left just do not get it, which is, the law abiding citizens are not the problem no more than the inanimate objects “gun”.
The left’s use of terms such as: everyone, majority etc on the surface are just wrong. They use such terms as a show of strength to their followers and in so doing reveal their disingenuous opinions. They lie!

      • YES. Which is why we MUST continue to either confront their misuse of terms and/or use the real & proper terms instead. If we continue to try to debate with them using THEIR TERMS AND MEANINGS FOR TERMS, we are actually giving them at least part of what they want – which is, at least partial agreement with them. And, that is more ammo (no pun intended) for them to use against us.

  4. The left believes in direct democracy. Which has historically been proven to be a terrible form of government.

They simply can’t get it through their thick skulls that the US is a constitutional republic with democratic elections. The inability to understand this is at the core of the misdirection of US leftism.

    • Direct democracy works fine in the cantons of Switzerland. Rojava in Syrian Kurdistan had it once, but they were unable to keep it.

Whenever I hear people here do the “republic, not democracy!” talk, they often forget that direct vs. indirect representation and limited vs. unlimited scope of authority are separate concepts.

      • The word ‘Democracy’ has long since been bastardized to mean something else entirely in the world political piss pot. When I was working in Egypt they made a big deal out of having a ‘democratic’ election, LMAO!

You can’t have a true ‘Democracy’ (which simply means that the people vote for their issues and leaders) because nobody would ever get along with 51% of the Pop controlling the other 49%. That’s why our critical thinking Framers came up with the seemingly flawed and complicated representative majority electoral system to ensure an overall better consensus of general agreement. And it better suited our REPUBLIC system of law and authority instead of a so-called Democratic system.

        • Even Russia has “democratic” elections but, much like Obamas Senate election, all opposition either disappears, gets arrested, drops out or dies mysteriously just before the election.

    • Ron,

No, they KNOW that we aren’t a direct democracy, they just don’t care. They THINK (because they believe their own bulls***) that they command “majority support” for their favorite shiboleths, but any rational analysis of the “polls” they cite proves they are full of s*** to their ears – when the questions are framed objectively, and SEEKING nuanced answers, the levels of support they claim disappear like dew on a summer morning.

They have an agenda. Their agenda is ALL they care about. They literally don’t give a flying fornication about “rights”. They think they’re smarter than everyone else, and they are determined to control the rest of us. I wish it were not so, but at some point their desire for control is going to be forced to confront my desire (I would say, “requirement”) that I be left TF alone, and my INHERENT rights respected. Gonna be ugly, but at this point I believe it is inevitable.

One of my sons has a T-shirt that just says “The Tree of Liberty is looking thirsty.” Most liberals don’t get the reference, else he would have a lot more sturm und drang walking around wearing it. “They” really think WE work for “them”.

Rope. Tree. Politician. Some assembly required.

  5. “Handguns are not mentioned in the Constitution.”

Well, the last time I checked… handguns ARE considered ‘arms’. Those that carry them ARE ‘armed’.

    “…murderous free for all…”
That sounds a awful lot like what we saw from the leftist BLM/Antifa riots of 2020.

    • Someone should ask him if muskets are mentioned. There’s a reason arms was used. I refuse to believe they’re all too dumb to figure that out. They’re just willing to lie nonstop and play dumb to push their narratives.

      • NY has banned muskets (also flare guns, nail guns and others) starting in about a week so not sure how that argument will play out.

    • Swords and knives, clubs, cannon, bombs, fire, firearms, even stones are arms, when wielded as such.

    • yes, handguns are ‘arms’ as is the MSR and other rifles and handguns in common use. Its not uncommon for the anti-gun to overlook this in favor of their narrative and they do not like loosing control of the narrative.

This missive sounds more like an angry knee-jerk rant because the anti-gun did not get their way and a lot of their efforts are now gutted by the Second Amendment now being an actual right the same as the others instead of being something ‘second class’ they can treat like a $2.00 hooker on Saturday night. The anti-gun left also lost their control leverage (e.g. exploiting the courts reliance upon other standards), Buren took that away from them and one thing the anti-gun left can not stand and really gets them riled up is the loss of control.

    • more of which is surely coming and, in fact, has already been seen. TheBLM/Atifa of the past two summers is only prelude. The George Floyd incident was total fabrication but now they havetwo, count ’em TWO significant decisions over which they will feel authorised to kill, destroy, etc.

  6. Forgot one thing in my earlier comment…

Overturning Roe v. Wade is NOT a national ban on abortions… Anyone who has read – and understood – the Constitution understands that. What it does do is put the decision back in the hands of the States – or the People – which is exactly where it should have been to begin with. All this decision really says is that the Federal gov’t does not have the power over this issue. And, by NOT understanding that, you’ve revealed your utter ignorance. And you think yourself knowledgeable and wise…

By the way… Abortions have been performed “on demand” all throughout history. Perhaps if you actually knew some history – KNEW something, rather than just ASSUMING it – you would have known that.

  7. “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.”

I never thought of the founders of our nation as the “hard right”. As the founders saw way back then, we absolutely need the second amendment right to help us defend against the ways and means and plotting and planning tyranny of the hard left liberals.

The was never a “free for all of the American West”. There was lawlessness because there was (mostly) no law around to stop it and it is this which is refereed to as the “free for all of the American West” and it did not mean guns. The majority of the lawlessness did not include gun. There were legends but that’s mostly because the liberal media of the time made them legends. There were tales of gun fights in the streets where gun slingers would square off against each other and the fasted draw usually won – but gun fights like this was actually kinda rare and mostly grew to such tall tales and legends out of embellishment tales because the actual events were not that spectacular and mostly not really gun fights at all. Guns use was actually pretty rare and mostly for hunting or defense against Indian attacks, but although guns were very prevalent in relation to the territories settled population the numbers of people shot were actually very few.

So, the so called “free for all of the American West” wasn’t that “free for all” after all. It was about 99% living and surviving the land, elements, the Indian raids, and putting food on the table – ya know, mundane stuff we still try to do today, except for the Indian attacks which today are replaced by criminal attacks thanks to the policies of the ‘hard left’ liberals.

So it really wasn’t a “free for all” and in reality was mostly people who wanted to settle some place and survive much like a lot of people want to do today in trying to survive the violent crime ‘free for all’ unleashed on the populace by the “hard left” liberals.

  8. ‘…returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.’

Hello, my name is David and I’m a TVaholic.

  9. “Handguns are not mentioned in the Constitution.”

“The right to keep and bear ARMS shall not be infringed.”

Not only are leftists stupid, apparently, they are also illiterate.

    • “Not only are leftists stupid, apparently, they are also illiterate.”

Been reading MinorIQ and dacian the stupid’s comments, have you?

But, then, believing their Leftist/fascist drivel requires either (i) the mental ability of a planaria, or (ii) being a lying grifter . . . but embrace the healing power of “and”.

  10. Rothkopf says, “Go read them. They do nothing of the sort. ”

Well, with the dumbing down of America, especially in Democrat run cities, the average American can’t be expected to read, let alone understand what they are reading. Let’s do a nationwide course in remedial reading and reading comprehension, THEN we all go read the constitution.

Let’s remember that grammar school children were expected to know and understand the constitution 100 years ago, but today, college grads fail to comprehend it.

  11. “the murderous free for all of the American West”.
If you are speaking of the US Army killing and moving native people to substandard land, I agree. There were those with a lot of money that used it to keep grazing land and water for themselves. If you believe the movies, every man had a horse, a 6 gun and a lever action carbine. We all know that is false, most people did not own a horse or a gun, if they did, it was kept at the homestead for protection of the people there.
I am sure that bad things happened. Desperate men do bad things, but I don’t believe it was much worse than today in regards to unsanctioned violence.
    Somebody watches too many movies.

  12. The sheer amount of stupid within that cruft positioning itself as a legitimate argument, it burns

  13. “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.”

Even at its wildest, the West was safer than New York City. In the late 1880s, Abilene, Caldwell, Dodge City, Ellsworth and Wichita averaged about three murders a year combined. Even infamous Dodge City had about two murders per year.

Meanwhile, amid its slums and filth, New York City was still trying to figure out how to control cholera and typhoid.

  14. “Handguns are not mentioned in the Constitution. But then again, as many have pointed out, neither are women.”

So, the author is supporting a literalist interpretation of the Constitution? I guess that means he agrees with the Roe decision. Right?

Sometimes, there seems no explanation for the inhuman cruelty beloved by the left other that psychopathy or demonic possession. I am going with the possession theory since international mass-psychopathy seems the more complex theory. Occam’s razor and all that. 😉

    • “International mass-psychopathy” is truly not outside the realm of possibility. I’m not discounting demon possession, however. LOL.

You might check out Mathias Desmet of Ghent University… He proposes – with plenty of evidence for it – that many are under a “mass formation”, aka mass hypnosis or even mass psychosis. See this video for instance – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLDpZ8daIVM. (I haven’t watched this entire video, but he starts it out similarly to others). Although much of his videos and writings right now are about the CONvid-19 Plandemic mass hypnosis (like the one I just linked), many such “spells” (my term) are being cast re. numerous other “issues” like the “man-caused” climate change “crisis” hysteria, and other Leftist (and well debunked) causes. Under such hypnoses, humans forget both their – and others’ – humanity, and the cause becomes all.

As 90% or more of the media are captured by the Global Predators behind and benefitting from and pushing these hypnoses, the media’s role in all this psychological and financial and physical damage should NOT be underestimated… The depth and scope of these hypnoses would not be possible without the media’s complicity. And THAT is why we see these phenomena virtually worldwide – the media are all pushing the same messages across the world at the same time and in the same ways. Politicians, of course, are doing their part as well – because they, too, are backed (owned) by these same Global Predators.

      • Grrlrocks,

Your accounting seems accurate…and, yes, that is how the demons work…this global foment of mind-control has the appearance of possession because it convinces people that reciting bumper stickers is actual thought. A complete surrender of free will and personal responsibility. Is it really demons? How would I know? But I characterize it that was to highlight the evil the left has become.

        Again, good summary!

      • RE Dr Desmet, “his” mass formation story line and his “teachings” …

The official framing of the mass formation (or mass psychosis) “phenomenon” is misleading and wrong. The false hope-addicted psychologists and their acolytes want you to believe this is “just some temporary occasional” madness by the masses that has been going on for a couple of centuries when it is but a spike of a CHRONIC madness going on for aeons with “civilized” people — read “The 2 Married Pink Elephants In The Historical Room –The Holocaustal Covid-19 Coronavirus Madness: A Sociological Perspective & Historical Assessment Of The Covid “Phenomenon”” …. https://www.rolf-hefti.com/covid-19-coronavirus.html

One of these mainstream psychologists who have been spreading this whitewashed reality, Dr. Desmet, also fails to see that the PLANNED Covid Psyop is a TOTALLY deliberate ploy because he doesn’t think (after more than 1 year, even 2 years, into this total PLANNED scam!) it’s ALL intentionally sinister as he stated in a prior podcast (this makes him witting or unwitting controlled opposition).

In the May of 2022 podcast with James Corbett he stated that “some people tend to overestimate the degree of planning and intentions” (behind the COUNTLESS, VERIFIABLE, FULLY INTENTIONAL, FULLY PLANNED atrocities by the ruling tribe of psychopaths over the last century alone) and see all of it as being planned which Desmet called “an extreme position” … Sound logical thinking is “extreme” and therefore false and sick in his demented delusional view!!!

In his overpriced misleading whitewashing old material regurgitated book the psychology of totalitarianism he too states that “There are countless … examples that seem to point in the direction of a plan being implemented, such as the fact that the definition of ‘pandemic’ was adjusted shortly before the coronavirus crisis; that the definition of ‘herd immunity’ was changed during the crisis, implying that only vaccines can achieve it … [he continuous with several other obvious facts of an ENTIRELY PLANNED event, especially discerned through the totality of all these facts].” “SEEM to point in the direction of a plan”??? No! They most evidently, clearly, and irrefutably DO demonstrate and prove it IS a COMPLETELY AND FULLY DELIBERATE PlanDemic! A big scam. An Entirely Planned Holocaust against the non-ruling herd of people (see cited link above). A coherent 12-year old kid can figure that out.

It clearly shows Desmet’s own complete lunacy. But because almost everyone in the culture is a member of mass formation (madness), including the “woke” people of the alternative media domain, hardly anyone recognizes Desmet’s lunacy. Not surprising that he has even become some type of popular “guru” among the adherents of the alternative media landscape.

With his false use of language Desmet obscures or hides the true reality instead of directly and uncompromising exposing it — aiding the obfuscation of the vital reality of what the ruling authorities really are. He does the same thing when he speaks of ‘the elite’ (as he does in a number of podcasts) when, in reality, they are THE SCUM OF HUMANS because they are REALITY-VERIFIED PSYCHOPATHS (see referenced source above). Yet in the Corbett podcast he “teaches” us that we, the masses, need to start thinking differently. Right… how about YOU start with sane instead of insane thinking/talking/”teaching”/etc, Dr. Desmet?

How do self-styled “truth-tellers” wake up the masses to the so-called truth when they THEMSELVES use lies with their deceitful fake language???
No one is “teaching” or “waking up” the ignorant masses to the CORE truths with lies, with the official “language of lies” (see cited source above).

This all means Desmet is ALSO a member of the masses of lunatics, an ACTIVE CARD-CARRYING MEMBER of mass formation!!! When, if at all, will he wake up from his state of mass psychosis, his “invisible” stupidity? When, if at all, will he face the TRUE and FULL reality instead of hiding behind fantasies such as his whitewashed “reality” of human civilization?

It shows we live in a global mental asylum with criminal and/or delusional mainstream psychologists, scientists, and docs as the guards, “teachers” and “therapists” … The blind/criminal/mad leading the blind/criminal/mad; the blind/criminal/mad adhere to the blind/criminal/mad = the human madhouse.

Worst of all, perhaps, the mass formation/mass psychosis notion frames the problem as the public being a mere unaccountable non-culpable victim in this phenomenon (the gist of the circular argument is: the masses should change their thinking but they got brainwashed so they’re victims). Nothing could be further from the truth (see referenced source above).

Desmet is right in that truth-activists must fight against mass formation psychosis (human madness). That also means exposing HIS deeply destructive mad part of it. This comment serves, in part, that objective.

    • don’t toss aside the blatant psychopathy we’ve seen these past two years with respect to the deployment, not of weapons of war outright, but of govrrnment tyranny, overreach, insanity over some chinese virus that was skillfully deployed asameansof inhibiting, controlling, subduimg the people And don’e forget the guns of government were the “authirity” that enabled the massive forced compliance with their worse that useless destructive demands

      • Tionico,

Absolutely. Psychopathy, demonic possession: the doing of evil. I’ve seen abject evil, horror. Supernatural (demons) or natural (psychopath): where you draw the line is determined by your experience on this planet. I am not even sure it is worth drawing the line.

  15. Following on a conversation from yesterday in which someone seemed to berate someone else for pointing out that fear of eternal damnation could prevent criminal behavior:

My mentor in psychoanalysis (yes, I interned for 2 years) helped evaluate how one of my fellow priests handled a suicidal parishioner. The priest told him “Suicide is a mortal sin. You do it, you go to hell and stay there…forever”. The man did not commit suicide.

My mentor explained that you use the tools you think will be most effective at the moment to avert the bad thing from happening. That gives you time to fix the underlying causes….if you can.

  16. Hey, TTAG!!!

Awaiting moderation for a perfectly polite comment.

When are you all going to stop letting the leftist press moderate your participants?

    • When they get their act together. So …never. Been here more than 8 years. Believe or not it’s been much worse.

  17. “often craft citations for their decisions from whole cloth.”

I thought this was about the 2A, not the original Roe decision.

  18. This moron is out there, if handguns/arms are not interchangeable then free speech/false narrative are not either and if that’s the case I demand this clown be silenced. As far as the majority view on abortion, we will see how many Red states turn Blue in November after they place restrictions or outright bans on abortion and how many Blue states stay that way after enacting their insane abortion right up to the moment of birth rules.

  19. You would think all of these supposed ‘smart’ people would know that the USA is a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, which is NOT the same thing as a DEMOCRACY. I suggest if this confuses your pea brain you go read the definition of each and then you would see that this ‘popular opinion; doesn’t matter because that is not how this works. Feel free to go cry into your pillow once you learn factual information, instead of a false narrative

    • If the popular opinion is that one should jump off a cliff, pretty soon the only opinion in town will be that one should NOT jump off a cliff.

    • Yes BUT he says that “good moral character” is still in play, which, in that letter, he outlines as a way to circumvent the SCOTUS ruling by requiring or allowing character references, interviews of neighbors, searches of social media history, etc. So in other words, he is telegraphing that except for a statement o good cause, it is business as usual in the counties that don’t want to issue licenses. Between you, me and the lamppost, I really think that he should go back and reread the decision, and then try to persuade me that there is a history and tradition of limiting the possession of firearms to persons of “good moral character.” Moreover, it reintroduces the same unlimited discretion of a public official to decide who gets a permit and who does not, the same reason the NY law was overturned. I say, good luck to that, that was never the case. The first person who is otherwise qualified to possess firearms but denied for lack of good moral character will be suing.

  20. This kunckelhead needs to go find a dictionary concurent with the period of our founding.

That Second Article he so hates declares “the RIGHT to KEEP and BEAR ARMS shall not be nifringed”.

Go and learn what that word “arms” meant in that day and time. It meant “any weapon of military usefulness that can be moved about and deployed by individuals”.

Further news, handguns were VERY common in the time of the War for Independence. Most mililtary officers carried a brace (pair, that means two) of them on their waists. On the COmmons at Lexing that April morning when the Redcoats killed so many with their first volley, it is widely thought that the single rond that was heard breaking the quiet of that dawn was a handgun discharged by a British officer. Others speculate that Sam Adams, a known “hothead” and rabble rouser, had fired that round, but other accounts have him well away from that place and well occupied elsewise.
Later on, at Concord, a Britsh officer who’s name escapes me just now confronted the town’s tavernkeeper demanding to know where those two four pound cannon of his were kept. He fiegned ignorance, claiming to not know. The officer clapped a pistol to the Keep’s head, demanding to know. Keep then said “H, THOSE cannon. WHy I just happen to know……. they were resurrected, the trunnions broken off, rendering them useless, and the day went on.
It is also recoreded and well known that a very old Yankee, a former high ranking officer under General Thomas Gage during the campaigns in the French and Indian wars, and earlier, Quebec, brought a brace of fine horse pistols to his redoubt alongside the Concord Road, and used both of them well, dispatching two Britich officers with them before he was overrun.

So there are THREE examples of the use of a handgun on the first day of the war for indpeencence, three that I happen to know and remember. I’d bet anyone could find a few other instances of the use of handguns on that day. They were clearly “weapons of military usefulness”.
SO DO NOT try and convince any sentient and informed person that handguns are NOT included in the clear intentions of that pesky Second.

  21. Hey Rothkopf. Justice Alito had a little to say along these lines, he said in his rejoinder to a dissent in Buren …

“And while the dissent seemingly thinks that the ubiquity of guns and our country’s high level of gun violence provide reasons for sustaining the New York law, the dissent appears not to understand that it is these very facts that cause law-abiding citizens to feel the need to carry a gun for self-defense.

Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so.”

so get over it and move on with your life and find something else to gripe about.

  22. “Major majorities of Americans support sensible gun controls”

Noooo… Major majorities of Americans responded to mostly surveys and studies that used biased questions and used open ended questions without qualification and excluded a large range of demographics and used sample sizes too small to be statistically relevant, in such surveys and studies paid for and run by anti-gun interest …, in other words not a true unbiased sampling and that is touted as “Major majorities of Americans support sensible gun controls”

    • and to add… each and every one of these surveys and studies, over 80% of their responses were from people who were already anti-gun. Which means the surveys and studies do not represent a true cross sectional demographic view of the entire American public. It is deceptive to say “Major majorities of Americans support sensible gun controls” because that’s not true as the only ‘majority’ represented in the surveys and studies was that of people who were already anti-gun and are not gun owners, but in relation to the entire country they are not a majority.

Its like asking people who only eat hotdogs if they favor more varieties of hot dogs. Within their own demographic in that context they are a majority, but not a majority of the American public.

      • The unspoken purpose of a poll or survey is to sway opinion, not record it. Hency why you must never take one at face value.

    • When Roe was decided, almost 50 years ago, it was known then that it was built on a shaky foundation. It took legal gymnastics to make it a law.

That was when they should have made an effort to codify thier stance into a Constitutional Amendment or legislation passed by Congress. They were lazy or they knew there wasn’t as widespread support as they claimed.

Right now the Democratic Party has the House, Senate and POTUS. They could conceivably put a law thru and we know they likely have one drafted in standby. Let’s see if they bring one out.

      • Little known that a do nothing idiot Senator from Delaware was during the 1980s one of those pushing a Constitutional Amendment to BAN Abortions. Same twit was installed as POTUS in 2021.

      • What kind of law do you suppose could be passed to legalize, on a FEDERAL level, something that the SCOTUS just proclaimed UNconstitutional? As soon as the ink dries it will be challenged and SCOTUS will rule it unconstitutional all over again.

        • If crafted by the Legislative and not by the Court, a Law could be Constitutional. Unless it can be shown in the Constitution that is in violation.

Roe was manufactured by the Court, and not any Legislature, and even Ginsberg understood that implication.

Don’t get the idea I am for abortion, I am not.

The main part of my statement above was that we are to believe there is widespread support, and if that support is so widespread why haven’t they attempted anything of the sort?

        • It may, but the process will be dragged out for years, the person suing may be imprisoned and financially ruined for the rest of his life during this time, and while the lawyers are filing for change of venue and the Obama appointee judges are kicking the case back and forth, Alito and Thomas may die of old age, presumably to be replaced by Eric Swalwell and Neomi Rao, and that’s if the Democrats don’t just decide to add a dozen more justices, all of whom will be vetted by the ACLU, NAMBLA, and the Brady Campaign. If you are expecting the System to fix the System I do not think you have read enough history.

They are playing the long game. We have to win every time. They only have to win once. And we’re not voting our way out of this.

  23. “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.”

Cripes, We’re way past that. At least during the “American West” the good citizens could take to whatever gat they could lay their hands upon to protect themselves, their family, property, and community.

ANY weekend in Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, DC, or any of the other democrat-run cities is worst, as far as shootings go, than anything any of the American West cowtowns ever had to put up with. Easily documented.

And hello- all those shootings are already “against the law”, perpetrated primarily by prohibited persons who don’t give a damn about laws in the first place.

Get a life. One where you don’t live in some gated community. Seriously.

  24. Americans have the right to bear arms. The hindquarters, backstraps, and rib eyes No.
I think it should have been written Americans have the right to turtle arms, that seems to be the best eating on a turtle.
I’d think bear arms would be a little tuff?

  25. All manner of things the anti gun types fail to understand, and not all of them are leftists.

  26. Why do you assume that those wish for much tighter controls firearm ownership are always from the LEFT, are LIBERAL or are COMMIES when it’s quite bloody obvious to me that in reality you have no elfin idea of any kind of ‘Real Politik’.
I for instance am most certainly in no way LEFT inclined and the most I could describe myself politically is somewhat Right of Centre.
I do NOT consider those that do not share my political opinions are nessessarily in any way extremists and wher I come from [THE UK the vast majority of the electorate are in unison as far as Firearms control is concerned, Including myself.
For over two decades I was an ARMOUER and SMALLARMS Instructor in the Rotyal Air Force and a member of the UK Army Infantry Reserves At bthe age of fourteen I joined our local ARMY CADET FORCE and by the time I was 16 I was qualified to UK Army Infantry Marksman Standard with the Lee-Enfield .303 and the BREN LMG.
All in all I would consider myself to be a damn sight more qualified that most American wanna be Rambo’s but in Civvy Street I have never [except for a brief excursion into INDOOR .22 Indoor 25 yrd and Skeet shooting have never had the urge or the need to tool myself up in any way and I do not know a single person who feels any differently – and I’m now in my mid 80’s so I c an brag about my general LIFE EXPERIENCE as well!!

    • What we was and what we are is two different things.
      .
Albert, Americans have to be “tooled up”, you just dont know what it’s like over here. Why I always plan on having to shootz 20 or 30 humans just going to the grocery store.
Bullets zipping through the air , so much blood in the streets you need a canoe to cross the road. Cars all shot up, drive bys got our houses looking like a sieve, it’s just horrific. What America needs is for some foreign country to come save us, preferably the United Kingdom.
Cause you guys know how to run an Empire.

    • Because history demonstrates that either you’re armed or you’re government property.

I’m very happy to have cleared that up for you.

      Enjoy your concentration camp.

    • ALJ,
Thank you. I have enough fertilizer from your comment to help a few farmers I know.

    • I for instance am most certainly in no way LEFT inclined and the most I could describe myself politically is somewhat Right of Centre

Right of center left is still LEFT, what we would call a MODERATE Democrat. Based on the crap you spew on here there is no way you qualify as what Americans would call a “conservative”. Socialism and Communism are by their very definition LEFTIST ideologies, so if you agree with your type of government (Socialism) controlling practically every aspect of your life then you ARE left of center from my perspective. Walks like a duck, talks like a duck, whines like a duck?… It’s a duck.

    • So you can brag about your life experience? Brag is all you do. Shooting at a range from a rest does not give you the right to dictate US laws. Instructing new recruits on where a safety is or how to point their guns at a target instead of flagging the bloke next to them doesn’t give you the right to tell me what I can own.

Even if you were a combat veteran with the Brit equivalent of a Medal of Honor wouldn’t give you the right to tell me how to live my life.

Violent crime is up in England, even if gun violence is down. I’d rather have a gun to defend me against a potential knife attack than have nothing. I’d rather have a gun to potentially shoot a driver intent on killing people with his rented truck than nothing. I don’t even expect to NEED my gun anymore than I need the fire extinguisher in my kitchen.

Even if you’re conceited, it won’t change my opinion

  27. “The hard right’s gun policies are also a big step backwards, returning us to the murderous free for all of the American West.”

Can someone please explain to this man that the American West was significantly less violent than America is today? I’m so sick of people getting all their information about the American West from Hollywood.

    • Facts don’t enter into the matter. He saw a TV show and decided that’s how things were, and he feels that was bad. He feels everything is better now. Feelz over realz. You can’t argue with someone like this. He isn’t going to debate with you forthrightly and in good faith. Savior complex, cognitive dissonance, Daddy issues, normalcy bias, and Stockholm Syndrome are all people like him have in their heads. You’re not going to convince him with the truth.
