[M]ost outlets covered the news of the arrest of man who, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, arrived at Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home, armed with a “tactical knife, a pistol with two magazines and ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crowbar, pistol light, [and] duct tape,” per the Justice Department

But after reporting the basic facts—that the suspect’s name was John Nicholas Roske, that he had been deterred by the sight of two deputy marshals outside Kavanaugh’s home—America’s journalists didn’t seem to rush into any analysis.

Because, of course, when it comes to political violence in the United States today, here’s a maxim you can always rely on: If the victim or likely victim is on the right, the perpetrator is simply a lone wolf. But if the victim or likely victim is on the left, the perpetrator was fueled by dangerous rhetoric.

Doubt me? Just consider how when then-Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., was shot in 2011, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was blamed for inciting violence with a map with a series of political targets—despite there being zero evidence tying Giffords’ shooter to Palin.

Yet in 2017, when a gunman shot five people at a Republican lawmakers’ practice baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia, there was little in the way of a national conversation.

It looks like 2017, not 2011, is the road map for what will happen in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Kavanaugh, despite there being clear evidence Kavanaugh’s would-be shooter was motivated by politics. As noted in the criminal complaint, Roske told police “he was upset about the leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.”

In light of Roske’s motivation, it seems relevant to remember the remarks of then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in 2020 when, amid a discussion of abortion, he said in part, “I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price.” It seems just a smidgen pertinent that in May, then-White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to condemn the protests outside of Supreme Court justices’ homes, which started after the leaked draft of a high court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

And yeah, it seems, oh, the teeniest bit germane that the Women’s March (a favorite leftist protest) has called for a “summer of rage.”

But don’t hold your breath waiting to see these sound bites play nonstop on media.

  1. Hilarious, “assassination attempt”…

With an unloaded gun locked in a suitcase?

And he snitched on himself, pleading for help from the police?

And that’s your left-wing Marxist assassination operative?

“Roske, 26, reported having suicidal and homicidal thoughts, according to court documents, but those words were blanked out in the audio clip released Thursday. Roske, however, could be heard saying, “I’ve been having them for a long time.” He also said he has been hospitalized many times.
He then told the operator that he had a gun but that it was unloaded and locked in his suitcase. He also said the suitcase contained pepper spray, a knife and “tools.”

Asked whether he came to Maryland to hurt himself and Kavanaugh, Roske, who is from California, said, “Correct.” But he called 911 because, he said, “I want to be fully compliant.”

One would think the socialists would do better at selecting and training their operatives…

Or maybe this was just a terribly mentally ill person who was fixating on random ideas and people, after all he did have Nancy Pelosi on his hit list, just as the January 6 insurrectionists.

    • Minor, you are exactly correct. The would be assassin was nothing if not inept. Then every socialist I’ve ever met was inept.

    • He was a terribly mentally ill person, just like the people you blame us for. The ideas he was fixating on were not random. They were the ideas child molesting commies like you propagate.

    • Ole commiefornia boy had a moment of clarity…. He got weak in the knees, thinking about getting his frail head shot off…

    • Exactly why would would you credit this person as a a ‘SOCIALIST’. You have no elfin idea as to mhis political persuasions I very much doubt that you even know waht a SOCIALIST is. Have you any bloody idea how SOCIALIST, for all practical purposes America indeed all the Western World is. Take a few examples TAX funded MediCare [yes American medical care for the OLD AGED is a sOCIALIST concept] then there are Public Health initiatives, Education free at point of consumption, re-distribution of wealth through taxation. the Defence of the Nation fubnded by t6axation, State Pensions funded through taxation, the ability to OWN the MEANS of PRODUCTION with State sponsored initiatives and tax relief for Private Pension and savings plans and Equity Purchase.
If KARL MARX were resurrected he’d look at most of the Western World as a fullillment of most of his dreams. A nation that is LIBERAL enough tyo allow you to purchase unnnessesary killing machines is liberal indeed only you cannot see it. Because you do not want to.

      • Prince Albert, this is none of your concern. You are a subject. We are citizens. Albeit, some are misguided. We kicked English ass twice so we could do what we want to do. Then we saved your ass twice so you wouldn’t have to do what someone else told you to do. Here’s a suggestion. Go pick up your Queen’s dog’s shit and leave us alone.

    • So he doesn’t call 911, unlocks the suitcase, puts one of the LOADED magazines in the gun, somehow gets into the house and slaughters the entire family. How hilarious is that, asshole?

      • The fact that he got cold feet and stopped when he did means something. His admissions might get him a stay in a mental hospital, but he did NOT follow up on the plan. His FBI controller must be very angry now that he “saw the light”.

    • Mental defectives like this are EXACTLY the type of people that Schumer was encouraging on.

In a country of close to 400M people there undoubtedly is going to be a finite number of certifiably crazy people who are not institutionalized. These crazies have been fed a steady diet over the past 5-6 years from the Left that the Republicans are racist Nazis and lead by a Hitlerian leader. The Nazi talk is dominant across essentially all channels of communication now days. It’s a barrage of unfounded hate. Why wouldn’t a crazy person think they are doing the world a favor by assassinating Nazis like that? This Nazi talk is pervasive and systematically coming from the Left against Republicans. This is exactly the whirlwind that Schumer wanted.

Only a fascist fool can disagree with the facts written above.

        • Minor wholeheartedly disagrees with the facts… Well, that just about sums up the left’s arguments.

        • When whiner49er sez…….
‘I wholeheartedly disagree with the facts written above.’

That’s 100% validation that the recipient of the comment is DIRECTLY over the target.

It’s getting easy to translate from whinerspeak to non-progtarded.

          Hey Whiner……….

          https://youtu.be/2q35PgSXhKg

    • The competency of the would be assassin, or even his mental health issues, does not change the fact that he was there with the intent to commit the act.

The next one in line may have all his ducks in a row.

    • Glad you brought up Jan.6 How many of them were armed again?

You just proved the author’s premise.

    • minor49!O…From your ivory tower POV apparently such an assassination plot wasn’t really nothing to get exited about…Too bad the perp didn’t stop by your home first and pointed that harmless unloaded gun at you. Besides you peeing on yourself I bet all the silly posts you’ve presented on this forum would have flashed before your eyes. And sticking pelosi on the perp’s list to move him to the middle of the road was pathetic as was your insurrection equation.

C’Mon Man, any individual who gears up and drives across the entire country to harm another person is along the lines of the school shooter, grocery store shooter, etc. If your head wasn’t where it shouldn’t be in your anatomy you’d see the similarities and your hypocrisy.

    • Unarmed mostly peaceful protestors got into a public building and you call them insurrectionist and call for their imprisonment.

This guy had the tools and the desire. He got scared when he realized there were armed men to meet his threat.

    • Hey Miner,

Compare and contrast this guy armed with a gun and very specific supplies that traveled across the country to, in his own words, kill Justice Kavanaugh, with those mystery guys in the Capitol that were chanting, “hang Mike Pence.” I’ve lost count how many times you’ve brought up the “hang Mike Pence” guys. If the above Lefty loon is nothing to write home about, then why are you so focused on some guys that were chanting that, who you couldn’t even pick out of a lineup? We don’t even know if some or all of them were the federal assets which the FBI admitted were within the crowd. It’s almost like you’re a disingenuous person who only cares about partisan politics. You would make an excellent Democrat Congressman. The ones willing to go all in on the lies, like Swalwell and Schiff, get the important assignments.

    • MINOR Miner49er How long does it take to take a gun out of a suitcase and load it? According to dacian the Dunderhead it only takes seconds.

    • No one said he particularly bright.

He did have a weapon, he did make the concious decision to go there. He also had a moment of lucid thought hen he called the police on himself.

At the minimum he needs help. We don’t know what he wuld have done had he not got cold feet.

His intent was to kill Kavanagh. He had the tools for the job. He should be held accountable.

      • How many times have you started out to beat someone down(because they “needed” an ass whipping), and stopped before you did so? Tempers flare and then you get a cool head.
Do you think that just maybe, just maybe – someone was feeding him the hatred and pushing him along to do something(keeping their hands clean of the whole mess?)
It would be nice to know the whole story, but the person holding the puppet strings will be believed and the almost perp will NOT.

      • He probably got to Kavanaugh’s house, saw the level of security there, and realized the effort was futile. Maybe someone should study the different outcome compared to, say someone intent on attacking a school. The left wingnut realized it was going to take more than a hammer and a crowbar to get into the house.

    • alien,

Try using “joik-off” or “j€®k-off” next time

  2. That ‘summer of rage’ makes me laugh. I can see an army of old harridans wearing their Pink Pussy T-shirts and hats milling about in front of the closed-down Planned Parenthood.

      • Ditto, though I’m stocked on ammo for my five-year goal, so now I’m working down the list. All it will take is a few events involving trucking companies, and deliveries will be curtailed to metro and larger populated areas out of “an abundance of caution”, same as happened in 2020. When the masses start seeing a repeat of that era, they’re now conditioned to react and clear out shelves, and will do so faster than last time.

The Haz household was already prepared, but I’m bolstering the supplies:
        Toilet paper…now at 8 months.
Food…now at 4+ months and climbing.
        Solar backup generator…check.
        2+ weeks’ worth of gasoline…check.

        • FWIW, I was recently having a conversation with a good friend who’s both a local LEO and a dual-sworn Federal LEA, and he said much of the rumored chatter is actually true. Agencies are preparing for a potentially catastrophic storm of political rage (SCOTUS Dobbs decision), diesel shortages, farming/food shortages, supply chain disruptions, energy disruptions (rolling blackouts, high utility bills), etc. He’s also seeing a increased possibility of a high-profile ass@$$ination, similar to what the nation saw in the ’60s.

There are some within the ranks – himself included – who are concerned that Biden’s puppeteers are allowing all these events to come into play to provoke Americans into enough disarray to trigger martial law measures and affect the November midterm elections. Time will tell.

        • With the stock my brother and I have we can fire 1,000 rounds per day for the next 10 years and only use 23% of our ammo supply.

That’s what stocking over 30 years has allowed us.

  3. The double standard is obvious.

When the left is wrong, everything is ok.
When the right is wrong, all hell descends.
When the left is accused, it’s normal.
When the right is accused, all hell descends.

Every little thing the left can do to destroy this country, they do. Then claim it’s the right that is doing it. It’s deflection and when done to this level is nothing short of madness. Liberalism is a mental disorder. Yet they claim Republicans are the ones that need ‘de-programming’. AOC tells everyone they need to ‘radicalize’ and simultaneously claims Republicans are radical extremists.

This country has laws and it’s the Democrat left that turns everything into a nightmare.

  4. The judge should make it clear that anyone attempting to harm his family or his person will be shot dead, on the spot….He needs to begun serious training for concealed or opinion carry crisis weapon use…Nothing would send a message like this judge dropping a few rainbow commandos…Next, he should file warrants for the arrest of ANY POLITICIAN that made terrorist threats or acts against him…The last time I checked he was still a federal judge…

  5. quote————-as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.”———–quote

As far as law enforcement knows the shooter in Uvalde had no political affiliation.

quote——————Doubt me? Just consider how when then-Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., was shot in 2011, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was blamed for inciting violence with a map with a series of political targets—despite there being zero evidence tying Giffords’ shooter to Palin. ————–quote

    FALSEHOOD:

What Palin Did Wrong The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan clarifies, “No one is saying Sarah Palin should be viewed as an accomplice to murder. Many are merely saying that her recklessly violent and inflammatory rhetoric has poisoned the discourse and has long run the risk of empowering the deranged. We are saying it’s about time someone took responsibility for this kind of rhetorical extremism, because it can and has led to violence and murder.” He points out that Giffords herself had expressed concern about Palin’s map.

    • How long before you end up on one of these websites as a perpetrator? You’re so terminally dense it’s only a matter of time. Do innocent folks a favor and take yourself out first.

    • I didn’t read the entire article. I didn’t even read a single word of it.

Here, troll — read this entire article:

Sarah Palin is not to blame for shooting of Gabrielle Giffords; left-wing rhetoric just as vicious

Written by former conservative S.E. Cupp in 2011.

Why can’t we, for example, blame CNN’s Roland Martin, for suggesting that “Maybe someone should kick Sarah Palin so she can understand how devastating obesity is to the future of the United States”?

Why can’t we blame Gawker’s Adrian Chen, who called Jeremy Paul Olson a “hero” for throwing tomatoes at Sarah Palin at a rally? “Although he missed Palin’s face, Jeremy struck a chord strung through the center of our heart: Who are you, brave tomato-thrower?”

Why can’t we blame comedian Sandra Bernhard, for warning Palin that she’d be “gang-raped by my big black brothers” if she dared set foot in Manhattan?

Or Bernhard’s famous frenemy Madonna, who chanted at a concert, “Kick Sarah Palin’s ass”?

Why can’t we blame all of West Hollywood, for allowing a Halloween display of a hanging Sarah Palin to sway in effigy?

  6. “… despite there being clear evidence Kavanaugh’s would-be shooter was motivated by politics.”

Hmmm, more like motivated by mental health issues. Seriously, the guy was severely emotionally distraught and angry over the SCOTUS Roe-Vs-Wade and gun things it drove him to plan and prepare and attempt to carry out those plans for murder – and that is a mental health issue.

People get upset over politics all the time, but they deal with it and move on. If it causes you to want to commit murder that’s a mental health issue.

  7. The guys no doubt a nut case but something motivated him to go there. Could it be all the leftist rhetoric, mis/dis information,
    and propaganda?
Naaaa that’s just crazy couldn’t be they wouldn’t do that….

    • The Kavanaugh attempted assassin was institutionalized THREE (3) TIMES for mental health issues in Commiefornia, no doubt he was NEVER entered into the Golden Shower State’s database of prohibited purchasers yet the Leftist (Dems) make so much of “red-flag” lists and it’s ability to prevent incidents.

  8. Over the years, BLM assassins have literally killed multiple police officers because of the irresponsible rhetoric (which is based on lies no less) coming from the Left. The Summer of Mostly Peaceful Fire and Destruction of 2020, and the resulting inner city decline, was from more of the same.

The Puppet Admin had a chance to say something about the illegal protests outside the Justices’ homes before this wannabe assassin took up arms to take one out. They were directly asked about it. They declined to say anything negative about it because they wanted the illegal protests to sway the Justices’ opinions by intimidating them.

“Court Rules For Home Depot In Barring ‘Black Lives Matter’ Imagery”

      “Authored by Jonathan Turley,

In January, I wrote a column criticizing the legal position of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in favor of Whole Food workers seeking to wear Black Lives Matter (BLM) symbols or clothing at work. Now a judge has rejected a similar claim brought by employees at Home Depot despite a decision in their favor earlier by the NLRB General Counsel.”

      • Not a victory. Nothing to do with guns or gun rights.

Private corporation. If they required their employees to wear the BLM logo, why wouldn’t the court decide that it’s Home Depot’s business as well?

    • Beef, do you have a feeling we are about to have a “Summer of Love” marked by not-so-loving behaviors, like looting, arson, and murder?

You know, what the Leftist Scum ™ call ‘love’? 😉

  9. Possums recipe for self contained Claymore dirty blomb:
    3 packs 500 count copper plated BB’s
    2lbs butter beans.
3 large beef and bean burritos ( Taco Mayo brand
    Eat and let digest.
    Pull my finger.

    • Do you swallow the BB’s in the containers whole or do you open the container and then chugg the BB’s down loose?

In my case beer, boiled eggs and any oranges or tangerines will get me a Haz Mat response.

    • possum,

Remind me to stay away from your vicinity on the day after Taco night. That whole recipe sounds smelly AND dangerous!!
