Look at all of those "domestic terrorists" (Image courtesy VCDL)

With radical Virginia Democrats pledging all manner of gun control following November’s election, the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) has planned a lobby day for January 20, 2020 in Richmond. In their press release, they wisely urged folks to leave their long guns at home.

The Virginia Citizens Defense League has a proven and distinguished record for getting results for gun owners in the Old Dominion state.  And Philip Van Cleave has proven himself a very sharp and capable leader.

VCDL’s announcement promoting the event:

Monday, January 20, is VCDL’s Lobby Day. It is not VCDL’s Protest Day.

There is a distinct difference between the two.

Lobby Day is about, well, lobbying – sending a message to the General Assembly and to the Governor, Attorney General, and the Lt. Governor. That message is simple: no more gun control that in any way, shape, or form negatively affects law-abiding gun owners. Bills that go after criminals or bills that are beneficial to gun owners are fine.

While there have been some verbal threats by the Democrat leadership to push major gun control down the throats of Virginia’s gun owners and some very bad bills already filed to back up that threat, NOTHING has happened yet and won’t until after January 8. And perhaps it won’t happen at all, if we press hard enough.

The sanctuary movement, with its absolutely massive turnouts of gun owners, is sending a deafening message to lawmakers ahead of Lobby Day. On top of that, we now believe the size of the crowd on Lobby Day could be absolutely incredible, possibly historic, if gun owners from around the state follow through and attend as we believe they will.  You will absolutely want to be a part of this!

Militias

Various militia groups from Virginia and nearby states have graciously volunteered to provide security. With a large Capitol, Richmond, and State police presence, not to mention enough citizens armed with handguns to take over a modern mid-sized country,  we have the security base covered nicely. That said, we welcome our militia brothers and sisters to be part of making the day a success! Some militia groups are looking to take canned food donations during Lobby Day and deliver them to a Richmond Food Bank.

Long Guns

If you are asking how you can help with VCDL’s mission, carrying long guns at Lobby Day is not helpful – it is a distraction. VCDL’s important messages inevitably get lost as the press rushes to get pictures of anyone carrying an AR or AK. The stories then become about the rifle, not VCDL’s agenda. You can set your watch by it. Long guns are not easy to carry in a crowd, either. VCDL needs its voice heard loud and clear in order to able to stop the onslaught of gun-control bills.

Laws you need to know for carry in Richmond

You can’t have a magazine in a centerfire rifle or pistol that holds more than 20 rounds unless you have a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). You must also have a CHP if the centerfire rifle or pistol has a threaded barrel or a folding stock.  Click here to see the code section, which also covers similar restrictions on shotguns: 18.2-287.4

Open carry without a CHP is legal in Virginia, but watch the restrictions in the previous paragraph.

You need a CHP to carry in the General Assembly or Capitol Building. Once through security, you can carry openly or concealed in the buildings. You cannot carry in the gallery over the Senator Floor. Keep an eye on these alerts. Should any of this change, we will notify you here.

VCDL Lobby Day is a peaceful event about gun rights and NOTHING ELSE

We are NOT there to have arguments with the other side. They lobby, we lobby, and never the two shall meet. Just ignore them.

And we are not there to push any other agenda. Our total focus is on protecting our right to keep and bear arms. Period. This is not about flags, statues, history, etc. Just guns.

If you somehow find yourself being harassed by the other side, don’t engage them. They could well be baiting you and recording what you do for propaganda purposes. If necessary, go find a police officer and let them take care of the person causing the disturbance. Otherwise, just ignore them and go about your business.

VCDL has a great relationship with the Capitol Police, the Richmond Police, the Virginia State Police, and most other law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth. We welcome their presence and are glad they are there to keep everything peaceful, while we work on the job at hand.

This should be a great event, with freedom-loving Americans from all walks of life standing should-to-should to protect our most precious civil right – the right of self-defense.  See you there!

That section above on long guns has a few people riled up. Once again, the section asking people not to bring long guns.

[emphasis added]

Obviously they had to know that asking people – passionate activists – to leave their long guns at home would cause some grumbling. And they gave a clear and concise reason for their request. They correctly note that, for this day at least, open carry would prove a distraction from their focused (traditional) lobbying message.

We all know how the media loves sensationalist photos of people toting long guns in public. Frankly, it scares a lot of non-gun folks. And VCDL leaders know how people who are scared of guns usually don’t embrace gun ownership very readily. Or gun rights.

Sometimes open carry protests can backfire, as legislatures move to ban the practice.  See California handguns, unloaded long guns, enacted. Or Florida, proposed.

However, “shocking” photos and video make for great sensationalism. They get clicks and viewers for the mainstream fake-news media.

It’s understandable that VCDL leadership want to play nice before they opt for the sharp elbows approach. Their people have noted that if the Lobby Day doesn’t go well, they will return – with long guns in hand – for Protest Day. That day will accomodate people itching for a less subtle communication approach.

Given the VCDL’s lengthy proven track record of getting results, wise and prudent people will abide by their request for this event. It might even be a good time to join the VCDL.

After all, if Virginia falls as New York State did — or Colorado or New Jersey — then the gun-grabbers will move on from there. Maybe to Florida, for instance. Don’t think for a minute your state is safe.

  1. If you find yourself scared by a peaceful patriot carrying a long gun, perhaps you should be asking yourself why you’re afraid.

That said, I understand their point.

    • Gotta love the irony of a gun free gun rally. Almost self-anti.

      Like gun free gun shows.

Wolf or sheep. You choose. Only the sheepdogs wear blue.

      • In fairness they are only requesting no long guns not no guns. I kinda feel the same way about it as you though but their listing the regulations for long guns and open carry makes me question them a bit less. Still not sure what pols scared of long guns are going to flip because of their lobbying. But hey maybe they’re bringing lots of coke and hookers 🤷🏻‍♂️

        • How about carrying a sign depicting the Don’t Tread On Me flag overlaid with the silhouette of an AR-15?

Hey, they carry foam tomahawks at football games, how about foam AR’s that could not possibly be taken for the real deal?

          Too triggering?

        • @herb anyone afraid of signs needs to stay in their safespace closet or dictator mansion or wherever those types dwell

        • The request not to bring long guns is more to prevent bad (and distracting) press than about the pols. It’s about not giving the other side talking points to hammer us with. I find it annoying, but the reasoning behind the request is quite sound.

      • When you come in peace you do not bear all your heavy weapons. This was common practice between groups. You set your weapons down when you want to talk about peace and righting wrongs. That’s why the constitution has freedom of speech, protesting and petitioning before weapons and combat.

Weapons are for offense, they are for combat, they are for killing. Firearms are weapons for killing humans. Bringing your long gun means you are ready and willing to start killing humans. The gun is not a toy or a prop. You don’t just whip it out when you feel like it. You don’t use it to send a weak message. You take it out when it’s about to be “go time.”

Don’t show up like you are going to do something when in reality you are scared and will not open fire on government. The youth call that LARPing.

No one said you shouldn’t carry your handgun like you always do. That shouldn’t have to be pointed out. They simply don’t want larping with intent to intimidate the American people and their elected representatives with death.

When the time comes to show the people’s might to their government then the long guns and body armor come out and so does the intent. However, this has rarely happened in modern America. It’s mostly LARPing by passive aggressive government lovers.

No one likes the guy who gets in the face of another and yells for minutes about how he is going to beat him up (while his buddies try to get him to stop acting a fool). Don’t be that guy. Either you throw down or get out of his face.

        • “Weapons are for offense, they are for combat, they are for killing.”

No. With very few exceptions weapons can be used for offensive or defensive purposes; that depends on the needs and intent of the bearer.

“Firearms are weapons for killing humans.”

And other animals. And small pieces of paper, watermelons, rabid tin cans, and if you’re really good, coins tossed into the air. Firearms are also weapons that can be used to defend any of these things as well.

        • “Bringing your long gun means you are ready and willing to start killing humans. The gun is not a toy or a prop.“

          Words of wisdom.

        • @chief
The thing about freedom is you don’t get to decide how other people exercise their freedom. Firearms are tools. Many things including the human body can be used as weapons and the mere presence of such things shouldn’t make others fearful. The government soldiers patrolling the capitol are armed but that shouldn’t make citizens fearful right? It would seem only the people with power, money, influence and armed soldiers are the ones who shouldn’t be intimidated by unloaded long guns. And long guns aren’t heavy weapons.

        • @Chicken Wing

          Context.

We know you are bringing your long gun as a show of your will to kill government or at least your posturing.

The police are carrying their weapons in the line of duty to protect property and people within the grounds. That is what you want and what the Democrats want.

Americans are not allowed to own heavy weapons freely. Thus a long gun is pretty high up the list as the heaviest weapon you can bear.

No one said you can’t carry like you always do. Continue your everyday carry. Don’t change that for a political statement that will backfire on you and help the other side. You don’t daily carry a long gun while wearing your full fighting gear.

        • @chief You know that we’re willing to kill Govt? Really? How about sharing tomorrow’s lottery numbers. You attempting to guess what complete strangers want other than their civil rights protected doesn’t come across as wisdom.
Rifles aren’t heavy weapons Period. Portraying them as such is ignorant and something anti-2A groups would do as part of their exaggeration efforts. Please stop. Rifle caliber pistols aren’t special extra dangerous heavy weapons and neither are pistol caliber carbines.
Not sure where your allegiance lies but you’re not helping 2nd supporters with the wild allegations and exaggerating.

        • @Chief Censor
“The police are carrying their weapons in the line of duty to protect property and people within the grounds….”

If it is ok for the police to carry in public, then it is ok for the “public” to carry in public. If they have a legitimate need, then so do we. Do we not protect people and property also? The “police” are not mentioned in the 2A. The “people” are!

        • Well said Chief. I don’t necessarily agree with your statement regarding long guns being inherently offensive vs. defensive, but the rest of your post highlighting how long guns aren’t props is spot on. If my carbine is in hand, it’s loaded, zeroed, and ready for business. Going full blown tacticool loadout absolutely distracts from the immediate goal. Yes, constitutional carry & NFA repeal should be law of the land, but trying to fight those battles alienated moderates without strong opinions either way. We need to prevent the proposed VA laws from being passed, and anything that doesn’t contribute to that goal is a distraction that hurts our chances of incremental success.

Pro-2A Enthusiasts’ beliefs and positions rarely overlap with the most effective political arguments; unfortunately our passion for the 2nd amendment is frequently misinterpreted as indicative of violent tendencies and extremist beliefs, throwing shade on our lawful and peaceful advocacy efforts.

      • Long guns are prohibited in the building, where Citizens would be doing their lobbying. Handguns are not. So, if you’re there to lobby, taking a long gun would be counter productive since you couldn’t get in to do what you came there to do.

  2. I think a whole lot of open carried big SA revolvers would be more impressive than long guns. Cowboy hats and spurs might help too.

    • I agree with Jeff the Griz. Spurs jingling would make you seen and heard.
Aside from that, the mere fact that so many will gather shoulder to shoulder should speak volumes to the politicians. I for one am proud to see Virginians and some from out of state taking a stance and doing more than mere talking. Good Luck VCDL….
p s I saw on the VCDL website where a person does not have to be a citizen of the Commonwealth of Virginia to become a member of the VCDL.

  3. Yes. It’s a proactive display. If you can’t get your point across without that, you must think your point is weak.

    • Is not the destruction of civil rights provocative? Or is it too commonplace in the Commonwealth to matter?

    • @MMurcek

Free speech is often provocative. Are you saying (pun intended) we should pull back on that too?

Long guns are gonna piss someone off. So will CCW. I say tough shit. get over it. Rights are freedom. Use ’em or lose’em.

    • “Is there going to be enough parking for my tank?”

On top of the cars in the handicapped section… 😉

The term is “differently abled” you insensitive bastard.

Have you ever noticed that the vast majority of handicappers
food shoppers never take their carts back to the corral?

Take your placard and get lost.

      • “Handi-capable” American citizens have the right to bare, own, carry and kill just as much as the rest of you insensitive non-verbal Neanderthals. Though I might walk with a limp through the valley of death, I have never feared any fucking moron who thinks with his cock rather than his even smaller brain. I for one voted for Trump to MAGA. But degrading each other rather than taking a stand to protect the 2A as well as the entire US Constitution is just what the “Demoncrits” want you to do.
So on: 01/20/2020 “show up, stand up and speak up or shut the fuck up”

  4. Criminals hate seeing their would be victims armed. So don’t carry your long guns around the politicians please. I appreciate their stating specific law and regs for Capitol carry despite trying to discourage exercising those rights. I think everyone should peaceably carry their long guns. It’s kinda the point. I’m not sure what pols other than dems from conservative districts would actually flip on this or any other issue. Hopefully everyone keeps this issue going and returns the legislature or governor to a more friendly red instead of the current red coats.

  5. This is about more than open carry. I think that the VCDL’s approach is measured and on point. And if there is no positive response from the politicians then the protest rally with rifles, torches and pitchforks would drive home the point. If only the NRA had as much ability to get people out! I see the VCDL model being adopted in every state in the near future.

    • I wish WA had such an organized state-level group. We do have a lot of people who try, but they’re constantly coming up short when it comes to PR, money, and general organization. (I say this realizing that I haven’t helped matters any.)

  6. I question whether leftist false flaggers will show up with sporting rifles to enflame the situation by claiming to be pro gun owners. Would not be the first time that a leftist tried to pass themselves off as a super extremist conservative.

    • There has been leftists coming to right wing rallies behaving badly and bringing weapons. They also like to wear white supremacist stuff or carry flags for the cameras.

They plan this stuff out on the internet when they hear the right is going to do a protest or rally.

      • Leftists and statists also like to get on conservative/right-leaning sites and cause mischief, forum sliding, etc. Shareblue?

    • There will almost certainly be false flag leftist agents with Swastikas, Hitler crap, and Confederate flags.

      That is standard operating procedure.

Media will label everyone present as fanatical extremists, when no one actually is. Media will slander everyone.

      • The left likes to create an official “uniform” when they go out to protests and lobby. Most of the time it’s a shirt with their message. This keeps people from pretending to be apart of their group, it shows how many of them are there, it puts out their unified message for the cameras, it creates solidarity, it markets their group, etc.

When Republicans show up they come in disorganized groups without unity. They cannot agree to wear the same thing… The pictures tell the story more than the article because Americans don’t like to read more than the title.

  7. I’d like to see 10,000 ARs and AKs on slings that day. Can’t carry long guns indoor anyway, let the armed protest outside be an epic one while VCDL members plea our case indoors.

VCDL, just tell the legislators you’re lobbying that those people aren’t with you, they’re just the people the legislators will have to deal with if they won’t deal with you.

    • In other words, you better listen to us or we will kill you right now. Thank you very much.

That is a horrible approach when you are trying to win over the general public who feels unsafe with non government workers having guns. The general public calls those people terrorists, so does law enforcement.

      • The leftists politicians in Virginia are already calling for the use of the National Guard to enforce their unconstitutional gun grabs. If threatening the the law abiding citizens with military force isn’t terrorism what is?

        • The duly elected representatives are carrying out the will of their electorate using government force? That sounds normal for a government. That’s how it works.

Human rights are not something a government gives you. They are liberties the government can take if they have the force of arms to do so. If you cannot defeat their forces you belong to their government. You are considered a citizen of their system rather than a sovereign man/woman.

Don’t create a system that can be hijacked and used against you if you want to be free from tyranny.

it’s too late now. Republicans helped the Democrats create a socialist government that continues to march toward total oppression. Now you must fight and sacrifice. You will be labeled a terrorist when you do fight because you have yet to win the populace over. Doesn’t matter how many guns and men you have if you do not have the hearts and minds of the public.

The proof is every government outside of the United States. It’s the truth. America is not special, it’s like every other population. It’s human nature. Words on a paper have no power to change the outcome of human action. Not even the Bible could fix the world. The constitution has no chance.

        • @Chief Censor

          “America is not special…”

I’m here with your ride to the airport to catch that overseas flight. Seriously.

      • Chief I wish people would heed your advice. This is not the time for violence but the time for reason. Show the irrational they are wrong not by being irrational and threatening but by being calm, cool collected and more rational than expected. This is not the time to bare teeth.
Ecclesiastes 3 offers us this wise advice:
“1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
        2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
        3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
        4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
        5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
        6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
        7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

        • Been to many lobby days in the past when Dem’s weren’t as radical as today. When we hit them with the facts they stood there stone faced, then thanked us for engaging in the process. We tracked their voting records, and apparently we were very unconvincing.
I.m afraid you are just wasting a day off that was originally recognized as Lee Jackson
day, not MLK. Dem’s are lock step in line with the party overlords that vehemently despise
anyone who challenges their authority. Personally I am tired of being told where and when I can carry. I left Va. after 40 yrs. and now reside in the MOUNTAIN STATE and never looked back. 2016 Wv. became the 13th Constitutional carry state and I can tell
you with absolute certainly, this state will never go the way of Va. Mountaineers are
always free, and you are too if you come here. Good Luck on LD 2020.

      • The Democrats are already calling for the National Guard to be used to murder gun owners who don’t comply. We’re already there. They took us there.

I am a-okay with the message of the rally being “back off or we’ll fucking kill you”. It’s a logical and proportionate response to “submit to us or we’ll fucking kill you”. Let the Democrats know a toll of blood will be extracted from them and theirs, and perhaps they’ll realize that disarming and/or killing gun owners isn’t that important to them.

      • Then don’t go or participate. Problem solved.

Why do you care so much what other people do? You stare into your neighbor’s homes like Gladys Kravitz with all the hand wringing and agonizing over what they do that you don’t approve of?

(Yes, I defiantly ended a sentence with a preposition! Oh, the horror!)

  8. Long guns should be left at home because I wouldn’t put it past Governor Coonface to order the police to kettle up the demonstrators and have judges on site to sign off red flag orders on every single one of them.

      • “Really?”

        Really.

They don’t live in those tanks, son. And when they open the hatch, they are vulnerable to accurate sniper fire… 😉

        • Some of Turkey’s military attempted a coup. it didn’t work because all the unarmed citizens took to the streets and got in the way of the military operations. They sacrificed their lives to show who they believe is the bad guys. The videos of citizens being shot and ran over when interfering made the majority take the government’s side. The result was a total failure of the coup although they had the upper hand simply because the people did not support the cause.

You can have all the guns and all the men you need to win but you won’t if the people are not on your side. The majority of untrained and unarmed citizens can dictate the outcome even when you kill a bunch of them. You would have to go full ruthless totalitarian to overthrow the ruling totalitarians.

You must get the people on your side. They have to be educated about their rights and understand their situation. Hence why the socialists have a government school system to indoctrinate the American people and stop them thinking for themselves.

Your guns will not win the hearts and minds of the people that make up your society. Communists already know they have to purge the educators before they take over fully. If communists allowed knowledgeable people with good intent to survive they could cause a revolt strong enough they lose control.

Good people don’t shoot innocent people to free them of their oppression.

        • @chief sensor

“Good people don’t shoot innocent people to free them of their oppression.”

          Oppressors aren’t innocent people.

Just stop with your games and go back from where you came.

  9. “Long guns should be left at home because I wouldn’t put it past Governor Coonface to order the police to kettle up the demonstrators and have judges on site to sign off red flag orders on every single one of them.”

Yeah. Y’all should just git to the back of the bus and hide your civil rights!

A right self-delayed is a still right denied.

  10. The Virginia Citizens Defense League has a proven and distinguished record for getting results for gun owners in the Old Dominion state.

Sure, back in the day when some Democrats were willing to break ranks and/or when Republicans held the majority. These days, I would not count on any Democrats doing anything other than holding the party line and going down in flames if necessary.

Word to the wise: Progressives have taken off the gloves because they see that they can get away with it. Their default impulse, when you do not agree to go along with them, is to maim/murder you. And that is not hyperbole. I have a police report (and screenshots of online death threats) to prove it.

Saying it another way, Progressives do not view this as a friendly disagreement. Rather, they see us as enemies and they hate us. Don’t think for one second that they will graciously acquiesce to our concerns if we explain them earnestly enough.

    • Things have changed because a billionaire began paying Democrats handsomely to change. When money talks, they answer.

    • uncommon:

I was gonna post this as a stand-alone but it seems you’ve given me an in before I hit the bottom of this comment section.

The issue here is identifying the target audience. I think a great number of people make a mistake in during that step.

The Progressives are just as you say. But they’re also not the target audience. The politicians in VA at this point are Democrats and they believe the same as the Progressive or fear the Progressives to the point that they will push a Progressive line. However, they’re not the target audience either.

The target audience is a subsection of the electorate that swings. Sometimes they vote one way and sometimes they vote another. Like it or not, that audience is the moderates and the independents because they are the ones who decide elections. They’re the target audience.

In the war of messaging showing up carrying a bunch of “scary rifles” doesn’t win us friends and it gives our enemies something to point at that scares the living shit out of soccer moms and dad-bod male parental units. If they’re scared then if they have a choice they will usually choose not to listen to the “bad guys” even if the “bad guys” are right.

Public messaging, as I’ve said here more times that I’d like to think about comes down to appearing likable before anything else. If you’re likable people will listen to you and now you have a chance to talk and have them actually listen.

If you want to really study this look at how shitty beer is sold. It’s goddamn effective at selling a really, really awful product. Imagine if we turned that knowledge around and used it to sell a good product?

While I don’t agree with Chief Censor, above, that the intent is to threaten/intimidate/whatever, I do think that in this case that’s how it’s going to come across and I’m fucking-A certain that’s what the other side will push in terms of narrative.

As always, I find it’s best not to cross a minefield when you can bait the enemy to walk across it to get to you. Preferably convincing them to do so under heavy fire.

  11. “socialist law enforcement”

That is a hoot, I don’t think anyone believes that law-enforcement is some sort of socialist organization.

The civil rights protesters in Selma or Birmingham would be surprised at that term, as would the protesters in Ferguson as well.

Those standing up for their rights at wounded knee or the XL pipeline would have difficulty understanding that phrase, as would those sitting in the whites only section of the lunch counter.

    • Native Americans know police and military are the enforcement arm of the United States government. They are the ones that murdered and oppressed their people on behalf of the (white) man.

Culturally Native Americans are closer to anarchists. They didn’t want the white man’s concept of control and property ownership. They took care of their own family/tribe the way they wanted. They lived the way they wanted. They traveled and used the land as they wanted. They did not want centralized government drawing up property lines everywhere and restricting movement of free people. They didn’t want to be disarmed and dependent on a government.

Police are paid via the property the government takes from the people who produce. The government creates rules for those law enforcement to apply on the people. That makes the police a socialized department of political enforcement by the ruling group. The government does not produce property, they take it and redistribute it.

Law enforcement spends more time enforcing rules that have no victim in order to raise more funds for the politicians and their system. These departments of government are setup to transfer wealth from one group of people to another. Try to not pay taxes and see who arrives at your property to take it or you.

Law enforcement as you know it is a department setup by the government using property of the worker they taken with force.

You do not get to elect a police chief. You do not get to dictate policy of the police department. You do not get to punish the officials within the department the same way they do you. Only the politician has control of their department.

Luckily you still have the opportunity to vote in a new system if you can get it on the ballot.

Remember police used to be considered servants to the people because the people paid their salary through taxation. But like any socialist program the politician takes it over and uses it for their personal benefit. You still have to pay for their services although it’s used to oppress you because that is what happens in socialist society/government.

      • “Remember police used to be considered servants to the people because the people paid their salary through taxation.”
Cops pay taxes too. You can have cops serve you by making an overtime request, most agencies allow them. You basically pay cop(s) to help with private security and/or traffic. It’s usually handle by their union if they have one. The gap between cops and “civilians” was predictable, the cops can no longer be servants because we have a sick society where most people have the “give me, me, me, me!!!” mentality. In most cases cops are just there to put band aids on cut arteries, they don’t have the manpower to serve except in more rural areas where the citizen are decent.

      • “Law enforcement spends more time enforcing rules that have no victim in order to raise more funds for the politicians and their system.”
Cops are not legislators, they don’t make the laws. If you think it should be okay to run a stop sign or to trespass write to your legislators, good luck.

“Police are paid via the property the government takes from the people who produce.”
Police, just like any other department in a local government, is paid via taxes and budgets allocated to said government. I am not certain the average non law enforcement taxpayer is far more productive than the average cop, who also pay taxes by the way.

“Try to not pay taxes and see who arrives at your property to take it or you.” Never heard of cops knocking on doors to collect unpaid taxes, what crime would that be under local ordinances and state laws? None in my state, therefore do they show up as a consensual encounter (no reasonable suspicion nor probable cause), expecting you to cooperate, but knowing you can tell them to f off?

“You do not get to punish the officials within the department the same way they do you” Again, cops are not legislators, and they are not judges and jury either. They do not set punishments for traffic violations and crimes, and they do not rule whether you are innocent or guilty.

“You still have to pay for their services although it’s used to oppress you because that is what happens in socialist society/government.” Has absolutely nothing to do with socialism. It depends on the cop mindset, expectations from the hierarchy, local issues and trends, your behavior and attitude…

I am done, what a bunch of b.s lol.

  12. This is a time for side arms only. Its information warfare. There were some people at county meetings with long guns. And that’s good. But now its time to leave the long guns at home. It’s not hypocrisy. It’s called being strategic politically. Thousands of voters addressing their representatives for redress of grievances, while open carrying a sidearm sends a very strong positive message.

The long gun is a distraction because the gun grabbers really want your handgun.
VA lawmaker Amanda Chase (R) dressed in business attire and open carrying her revolver sends an extremely powerful and positive 1st amendment message.

“Lawmaker starts packing pistol to send message to potentially violent protesters”

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/virginia-state-senator-begins-openly-carrying-revolver-at-state-capitol-says-it-empowers-women

Don’t be the dumbass that took his long gun to a military recruiting station to protect the military and then have a negligent discharge.

    • The problem is the Virginia AG Mark Herring has no moral authority. And everyone who is honest in the commonwealth knows it. Being a hypocrite on civil rights and putting non americans before anyone born here will be the fuel that drives the “I will Not comply” movement.

“Another factor, experts say, is Attorney General Mark Herring’s opinion in January that local law enforcement agencies don’t have to hold immigrants in the country illegally for federal authorities.”

“Virginia Beach called weak on illegal immigration”

    • Chief-
You are on point. No matter how hard you try, some people can’t see all sides of the cube at once……. And they will never understand. Stay on point, know that you are not alone. If we ever get to a time of out right violence, there will be different factions of “patriots” with different thought processes and actions. The truth will come out in the wash.

  13. Totally disagree. It’s like saying it is our right, but let’s not trigger the anti-gunners. They are triggered anyway! They hate guns, period. And the media isn’t going to be sympathetic to any Second Amendment group regardless of what you do. Pretty soon, you’ll tell us to only bring water pistols, but without water.

  14. It is their, the VCDL’s, rally. They asked for there to be no long guns. I think it would be disrespectful to show up with one.
It is also a information/point of view/perspective war, taking place not only in the media but for those who live in VA and who are attending the rally.
Showing up carrying a long gun, or being that loud mouth braggard is not doing the people of VA any help.

The Three Percent Original’s National Leadership asked members attending to respect the VCDL wishes and not to dress in tactical gear.

  15. George Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” The origin for modern day gun control came from California in the mid ’60s. The Black Panthers legally protested at the Sacramento capitol building armed with rifles and shotguns. Their main point they wished to make was that they were tired of police harassment and brutality, and that DWB (Driving While Black) wasn’t a crime. This scared the ever lovin’ shit out of the state government and vile gun control bills soon followed. They were signed into law by Gov Ronald Reagan. (Yes, THAT Reagan!) Shartly after, we had the GCA of ’68, which had it’s genesis in that Sacramento state house.

The Black Panther’s message was lost over the display of long guns as a political message, and the same will happen to the VCDL message if long guns are openly carried this January.

One question I do have, if the new gun phobic legislature passes some sort of emergency resolution banning carry on the capitol grounds, will the capitol, Richmond, and State police comply?

  16. In case anyone didn’t read the fine print about threaded barrels in Richmond, some examples to consider:

You can legally open carry a standard HK VP9 pistol in Richmond without a Concealed Handgun Permit.

You can NOT legally open carry an HK VP9 Tactical pistol in Richmond without a CHP.

Why? Because the tactical model has a threaded barrel. Even though it’s open carried, they require a Virginia CHP to carry it in certain localities in the state. I guess the rationale (if you can call it that) is that they believe a CHP holder has been background checked enough to be trusted with a threaded barrel. If you are planning on attending and aren’t intimately familiar with the laws, know before you go.

  17. Illinois has not been safe since the Firearm Owner’s Identification Card Act (FOID) of 1968 was passed to possess and purchase a firearm and ammunition. Even thou, an Illinois judge has ruled 2 times that the Firearm Owner’s Identification Card Act (FOID) is unconstitutional we are waiting for the appeal process to proceed in Illinois Supreme Court to see if it sticks. Illinois and Chicago Democrats have super majorities in the legislature now. Virginia Democrats have calculated this win very well with the 2020 Census. Virginia Democrats can now redistrict the state and federal election maps in Virginia to bolster their wins in the state for the next 10 years. Elections are important, but Census year elections are more important than others because of the significance of being able to redistrict the election maps for a large block of time approximately 10 years for the next Census is taken. 2nd Amendment supporters in Virginia and other states just are not aware of how important these Census year elections are because it effects them for the next 10 years.

  18. If you don’t bring your guns you are admitting you are NOT willing to defend your 2A rights against tyrants. Signs mean nothing to the Leftists that want you disarmed. A show of force is what they understand. A peaceful assembly but with the means to defend the Constitution. Remember what happened when King George tried to take the colonists guns, ammo and powder.

  19. No long guns? Cowards. I’ll pass on attending now. They should really be happy when all of their firearms, long and pistols, are confiscated.

    • If you feel the need to bring a long gun despite the VCDL’s request not to, then you’re not invited anyway. They have probably done more to protect your gun rights in Virginia than any individual or organization in modern history.

Don’t insult them because you are butt-hurt that you don’t get to LARP with a rifle in public, faggot. Just stay home on the couch and watch Red Dawn for the 10th time.

    • When you need an I phone to tell you where you can’t carry in Va. then it’s time to head
west where you are welcome. The Mountain State!!

  20. I am very pro gun and freedom but I’m thinking twice about attending based off of some of these comments. The last thing we need is a shootout in the streets of Richmond. That would be the nail in the coffin for the Democrats.

  21. I got to say, if we are worried about getting some people scared, and the MSM coverage by carrying long guns-WE’RE SCREWED. These people support after birth abortion, and abortion in general. Our american citizens are being killed by illegal aliens, whom these radical communists support as well. 50 million + babies abborted by these demonic Democrats polices. Community’s destroyed by wide open illegal immigration. I’m fu king sick of worrying about the demonrats, and their propaganda mechanisms which all need to be destroyed. Give me a fucking break. Calling people larpers who are ready to potentially give their lives for freedom? With people writing shit like that we dont need a coomon enemy.

  22. They are absolutely right about the long guns…

it will be used by the liberals as a distraction.

  23. What part of “shall not infringe” means?
Stop playing Govern Mental Infringement games retract “ALL” Govern Mental gun laws on normal community citizens
Stop playing Govern Mental infringement games
Been under siege for a lone time why bitch now?
Example :Obama Executive Order 13684: Establishment of the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing.
Old men need to form a young community militia and get out of it’s way been to long already
Retract Order 13684 ASAP – Just because the Monkey came off our backs does not mean the CIRCUS
left town – Ask any Govern MENTAL CONgress prostitute with a pen!! Stop playing the Govern Mental infringement game and disarm the Govern Mental ALL of them and restore community militia to it’s proper.

  24. If a person were to say I will give you x amount of dollars to kill someone for me then you will go to jail for a long time if you are caught. We have a governor that advocates doctors killing babies even outside the womb there for is pushing for murder. He should be locked up for many years. The governor is a baby and child doctor in which case he should lose his license to practice as a doctor.

  25. I have been saying all along that Northam is mentally unbalanced and he is quickly proving it. He needs to be removed from office and put into a mental institute, he has a complex of a certain French man that met his waterloo many years ago.

  26. Richmond is Commie soil. You don’t defend your own soil from foreign soil. Decades of perpetual should have taught us that.

Let Governor Buckwheat’s or Orange Man’s thugs come to us on our soil. Founding patriots did not go into Boston. They waited until the tyrants were forced to come to them. Patriots must NOT be viewed as the aggressor.

  27. Where were all of these testosterone-charged cowboys when Obama signed the Republican’s NDAA which gutted our Bill of Rights?

Failure to understand that Republicans are an enemy of liberty is to have missed the whole lesson of America’s slide into tyranny.
