My son did the same thing. He had metal Airsoft versions of a Baretta 92 and a govt. 1911. Even in the hand they’re almost indistinguishable from the real things. I repainted them myself and grounded the little bugger for a weekend.

Hah. Made me think of something. There’s a ln airsoft AR at the cheaper than dirt in McKenney TX on a maniquine that has the tip painted black. Kinda had to look twice. Thought, “that’s a funny looking AR and it’s not locked up”. Then I got a closer look. The tips painted black.
I love all combat games! Airsoft, paintball, hell, even laser tag!
Nothing wrong with painting the tip or replacing it with an aftermarket. Children should not be playing airsoft in yards or in neighborhoods anyways. Most airsoft fields do not require the tip, and many players will paint them because hi viz orange is not ideal for stealth.
