If the legacy media had their way, your front door would explode and seconds later you’d be hip-deep in armed gun-grabbers delivering butt-strokes to your noggin until you surrendered the combination to your gun safe. That’s the level of anti-gun bias today’s legacy media uses whenever they report on anything related to guns or the Second Amendment. Their recent stories on developments in the Senate are no exception to this rule.

“The Senate has finally reached an agreement on guns,” a CBS news actor breathlessly announced Monday morning. Except the Senate hasn’t reached any agreement. Ten Republican Senators have agreed in theory to back a gun-control framework, which is lightyears away from agreeing to support an actual gun-control bill.

Once again, the legacy media is way ahead of the actual story. Once again, they are reporting what they want to happen, instead of what actually happened. Rather than reporting the truth, today’s media consistently pushes its own agenda, which in this case is their belief we need more gun control.

To be clear, a bipartisan group of 20 Senators – 10 Republicans and 10 Democrats – led by Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), announced yesterday their support for a proposal, which is not a bill.

According to a press release from Murphy’s office, the proposal is “a commonsense, bipartisan proposal to protect America’s children, keep our schools safe, and reduce the threat of violence across our country.”

“Families are scared, and it is our duty to come together and get something done that will help restore their sense of safety and security in their communities,” Murphy said in the statement. “Our plan increases needed mental health resources, improves school safety and support for students, and helps ensure dangerous criminals and those who are adjudicated as mentally ill can’t purchase weapons. Most importantly, our plan saves lives while also protecting the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans. We look forward to earning broad, bipartisan support and passing our commonsense proposal into law.”

You can read the full text of Murphy’s proposal, as well as which Senators have announced their support, here.

Is this development concerning to those of us who value our God-given constitutional rights? Yes, it certainly is. However, we don’t yet know what provisions of the proposal will be included in the bill, or even if there will be an actual bipartisan bill.

The National Rifle Association said as much in a statement released Sunday night:

As is our policy, the NRA does not take positions on “frameworks”. We will make our position known when the full text of the bill is available for review. The NRA will continue to oppose any effort to insert gun control policies, initiatives that override constitutional due process protections and efforts to deprive law-abiding citizens of their fundamental right to protect themselves and their loved ones into this or any other legislation.

While some of the concepts contained in the Senators’ proposal are likely unconstitutional, it’s a proposal, not legislation, at least not yet. We need to monitor developments closely and keep in contact with our elected representatives.

While the gun banners are celebrating wildly while the cameras roll, do not fall victim to the media’s spin. That, friends, is exactly what they want. They survive solely on clicks and ratings. Do not feed the media beast.

  1. It is our duty to resist unjust laws. Witness slavery. Segregation. It is not a right but a duty to resist such tyranny. Doing less is complying with crimes against humanity.

    • Yup. But most 2A folks just sit and complain…and write emails and letters to their corrupt lawmakers. Is it any wonder the gun-control movement lurches forward when we sit on our asses and just bitch?

Change (i.e. ending the unjust 2A regulations and ATF) is going to come through our collective acts of civil disobedience and will require all of us to expend our blood, sweat, and tears. Emails, blog postings, and holding up signs maintains the status quo and accomplishes nothing. The oligarchy knows this and is banking on our laziness to perpetuate this current fascist technocratic regime.

        • For starters, not giving up our gunns.

Never, ever register your gunns if you can avoid it. They cannot come after that which they don’t know exists. The Haz household’s gunn safe is not even at our house, but located miles away at another location and is full of unregistered items. All legally off the radar for one reason or another, and they’ll stay that way.

        • Don’t acknowledge letters asking about your guns because they should not even know who owns them. Most States will not release their Conceal and Carry information and the Government is suppose to destroy the information on your NICS applications for a firearm withing 48 to 72 hours, etc. Don’t register your firearms. Don’t let them in your house if they come to ask you any questions. In general force them into an administrative nightmare.
They have to deal with over 150 million gun owners and don’t have the resources to run us all down in a timely manner. In NY, CT and NJ they tried to register AR15’s or collect large capacity magazines and it was a total disaster. Heads of State Police in all three states told their Governors that they would only enforce regulations if they found illegal items in the investigation of another crime. Since most of us are law abiding, not complying is a real headache for them. Some of these things will be struck down in Court as unconstitutional as well. In fact many of the laws passed being challenged have been defeated and found illegal.

        • It is a short distance from the Gun Control bill to a trash can where it belongs…After all the democRat Party supplies criminals across America with soft targets like defenseless children, grocery shoppers, etc. The Gun Control they are throwing a tantrum to pass is all about keeping blame off their criminal coddling incompetence and on an inanimate object.

The NRA, Gun Manufacturers, law abiding gun owners were not in charge of security at the Uvalde school…Those in charge of security for the Uvalde school are 110% responsible for supplying an insane individual with defenseless soft target children and adults. As usual none in charge of school security were injured or killed.

Make no mistake about it…The media and the democRat Party reached into their Jim Crow playbook and erased the N-Word and proceeded to Discriminate against everyone between 18 to 21. And to add insult to injury the knee jerk Rat Party proceeded to go after firearms owned by everyone else.

It takes self serving scumbags to place their racist and genocide based Gun Control on the coattails of children murdered by an insane individual solely to go after the Rights of Americans who had zip, nada, nothing to do with murdering children, etc…

          1) The Second Amendment is one thing.

          2) The criminal misuse of firearms, bricks, bats, knives, vehicles, etc. is another thing.

          3) History Confirms Gun Control in any shape, matter or form is a racist and nazi based Thing.

        • Don’t turn in your magazines that are “illegal.” Don’t vote. Don’t agree to any gun control until 2A is repealed. Don’t give $$ to NRA or organizations that incrementally (i.e. compromise) for gun controls. Clog up the roads surrounding the capital when magazine laws are passed. Open Carry onto the capitol and have a sit-in. Be creative. Really? You had to ask?

        • matt07924 Oh, yeah, “don’t vote” so you can turn over everything to the DEMONcRATS. Who is “agreeing to “gun control” except the anti-gun radicals? Clogging up the roads will piss of a lot of people and accomplish nothing but getting people pissed at you and hence our agenda. Oh yeah, open carry so you can get arrested and thrown in jail.
          Not too bright!

      • Yep, sending email in particular is a rookie move. You will be on a no fly list for wrong think in a heartbeat for disagreeing and be all but strip searched next time you try to fly.

    • Speaking of feeding the Media Beast,

I recorded the D.C. Witch Trials of 2022 and have been carefully analyzing what exactly James Goldston, the professional propagandist and former president of state run ABC News, actually brought to the table that I, Miner49er could not.

The answer is NOTHING. Absolutely nothing… And you thought I was miffed before.

THEY SHOULD HAVE HIRED ME! My Soros check would now be fat.

They think Taylor Lorenz from WaPo can deliver an embarrassingly shameless and amoral hit piece, they haven’t seen my “Skilz”.

My agitprop is the finest you will find east of the Mississippi. What Taylor Lorenz doesn’t understand with her childish parochial attacks is how to deliver propaganda as an art form of finely blended lies, misdirection, and disinformation.

First you need a canvas, for me that is the Pravda sites, NYY, WaPo, Salon, Huff-Post, Snopes, Politifact, Politico, The Guardian, Associated Press, and anything Media Matters.

Then from each you regurgitate the most heinous left lies (the bigger the better), weave in some falsehoods, sprinkle on some propaganda, toss in a false flag or two, and let the agitprops simmer before serving to an honest and well meaning ‘average’ person.

If done correctly you will WOW them with B.S., completely confuse the subject, and disfigure the truth so that it is completely unrecognizable.

Was anyone wowed by the Jan 6th D.C. Witch Hunt?

No? That’s why it should have been me, Miner49er.

So Nancy and Liz, Soros has my #, call. Did I mention I have TDS?

  2. The ONLY things we actually ‘know’ for sure is the inmates are running the asylum, laws are being broken with no consequences, and what is actually available to buy costs much more than it ever should.

Everyone is on edge and there are people on both sides frustrated beyond beliefe.

This country cannot be transformed like Obama promised without driving everyone crazy.

  3. Rino’s have sold our 2nd Amendment rights away for decades now. Is it a surprise the would do it again. Do not vote for Rino’s or commiecrats.

  4. “Most importantly, our plan saves lives while also protecting the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans.”

You mean like the other over 25,000’ish ‘gun-control’ anti-gun laws already in existence collectively in federal and states laws were suppose to do?

    • Just once, I’d like to see some brave soul in Congress stand up and say “Save lives? For the children? Then everyone in these halls would heartily support the potential repeal of Roe v. Wade, yes?”

      • I’d like to see one of them stand up and condemn the whole institution as a corrupt den of thieves before calling on all on Congress to resign immediate in shame and beg the public for forgiveness before committing mass sepeku on the steps of the building as an act on contrition.

        • Doing so would be the right thing to do. So, it will never happen. Where’s the profit in bribes, kick backs and grift? Congresscritter’s wife wants a new Benz and a house in the Hamptons or on Martha’s Vineyard next door to Saint Barry.

        • @oldmaninAL:

True, but I doubt it matters what they want much longer, for 200 Trillion+ reasons.

        • “…beg the public for forgiveness before committing mass sepeku on the steps of the building as an act on contrition.”

The ‘acts of contrition’ they demand is from us, not *them*…

  5. Of the 10 Republicans who support the legislation, Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, and Roy Blunt of Missouri are all set to retire after their terms end.

The other six Republicans who signed onto the legislation — Cornyn, Tillis and Sens. Mitt Romney of Utah, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina — are not up for reelection this cycle.

3x SOBs are retiring. Spineless idiots. Burr is running for reelection so needs to be beat about the head/shoulder until he get head out of ass.

    https://dailycaller.com/2022/06/13/ten-republicans-support-bipartisan-gun-control-proposal-framework/

    • This is the very point of the Senate, however. To have elected officials who are not as constantly up for election and therefore be more separated from their constituencies than, say, the house.

  6. Just sent email to Thom Tillis:
I am writing in opposition of your support of the Red Flag bill the Senate has been negotiating. I am now questioning my campaign contributions to your last re-election campaign. Do I need to go looking for your next primary opponent?

Call these guys, though some like Mitt Romney are clearly a lost cause.

    • Tillis and Burr are too. Both those bastards have done absolutely nothing for us. He’ll probably ban you from contacting him, he banned my father from doing so and Pop is as polite and proper and respectful as you could ever hope to be. I did not inherit that particular respect for authority.

  7. We need to fight against Red Flag Laws that take a person’s firearms under the presumption of guilt without the person having a chance to refute the charges. Supreme Court has ruled you cannot enter a person’s home without a warrant and a warrant isn’t issued under Red Flag Laws as it is similar to an order of protection.

  8. I noticed that they specifically said violent felons. Does that mean they’re going to get rid of the restrictions on firearms ownership for none violent felons?

    • Regarding school violence incidents in general, over 33,000 students and school staff nationwide annually are violently attacked with knives, blunt objects, or hands and feet and ~9,000 of those die or are permanently disabled annually as a result but you rarely hear about it on the news, and they are swept under the table by use of quiet ‘settlements’ with the victims and families who must agree not to reveal the incident to get the settlements so they don’t reveal it. In other words over the last 30 years, annually, ~99.3% more students and school staff are injured or killed by use of knives, blunt objects, or hands and feet than were shot in all actual school shootings over the last 30 years. In 2021, there were over 3000 teachers/staff subjected to outright rape or other sexual assault in the nations classrooms during school hours – quiet ‘settlements’ happened and no one talks about it and only ~120 made the news.

This Briebart article is one of those rare times it makes it into the media.

    • Basically, black violence on black/white student or on black/white school staff happens on school campuses thousands of times annually around the U.S. . Very few ever make it into the media.

  9. [In the voice of Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver]

Gee golly, I’m so happy that politicians want to keep my family and I safe!

And I’m inclined to let them, you know, what with the bang-up job they’ve done on everything from riots to FDA oversight to inflation.

I mean, is there anything these people don’t do amazingly well while being stunning and brave? If there is, I sure can’t think of it!

Thanks politicians! Keep on keeping America prosperous, strong, safe and free!!!

  10. “Families are scared, and it is our duty to come together and get something done that will help restore their sense of safety and security in their communities,” Murphy said in the statement.

Of course! As usual, the legislature focuses on what feelz like a sense of security, and provides little if any substantive contribution to ACTUAL safety and security.

    • “Those who give up essential liberties for security deserve neither.”
Paraphrasing what has been attributed to both B Franklin and T Jefferson.

      • Remember the tyrannical government that our founding fathers spoke of, well it’s in the District of Communists now.

  11. This “agreement” is only a “framework”. The DEMONcRAT Leftists will try sneak in in their shopping list.

  12. “NRA does not take positions on ‘frameworks’…”, but I’m sure I’ll get a letter about it asking for donations in very short order.

All 20 (not just the RINOs) of those senators as well as those who gave them that framework assignment should be evicted from office for not bearing true faith and allegiance to the Constitution as their oath mandates. Seeing as a red flag law skirts all but one amendment in the Bill of Rights, they’re not only doing an end-around run on the highest law of the land but striking the greatest blow to civil rights since Jim Crow.

  13. I still kind of doubt this is going to pass. Because the Democrats want more. Either the Democrats are going to overstretch and put things in it that were not agreed-upon and various people get angry causing it to fail, someone will poison pill it and it ends up dying, a democrat or two doesn’t vote for it because it doesn’t go far enough or makes them mad in someway, or never actually gets a vote to begin with.

The problem here is that several provisions seem to violate the fourth and 14th amendment. I can easily see a court striking down parts of this bill. It wouldn’t be the first time Biden got slapped by the courts.

    • Hope you are correct but remember all those thousands of unconstitutional gun control laws and the property confiscation and voter fraud and anti knock raids that are all against the constitution ? They got away with mass murder at Waco and 2 murders at Ruby Ridge also.

  14. Nothing in the unconstitutional bill will prevent deaths, just get rid of due process.
In Illinois we have a “Snitch Bill” and a 72 hour waiting period for any firearm purchase.
The “Snitch Bill” was signed by a RINO governor named Bruce Rauner.
It was written by a “pro gun activist” named Valinda Rowe who runs the Illinois Carry website.
This website is full of misinformation and is Rowes and her husbands source of income.
It is run by liberal moderators who chased most of the REAL pro 2A people off of it.
While there are a bunch actual instructors who post their services or “classes” on it,
some are teaching misleading information. The same with moderators and Rowe herself.
If Joe Citizen were to take their class for a CCL they could be taught info that could end with them being arrested. It’s a hoot of a website and one of the most clueless people is Valinda Rowe.
While the people of Illinois already have enough problems, this website is something else.
Most people know that the government is infringing on your Rights, the newbies on Illinois Carry
have NO idea that people who run or post on Illinois Carry are setting them up.
I was warned years ago to ignore what was on that website when I took my CCL class.
Valinda Rowe goes by the name Molly B on the website and is clueless.
I had no idea that it was basically a front for anti 2A liberals posting bad info.

  15. > While the gun banners are celebrating wildly while the cameras roll, do not fall victim to the media’s spin. That, friends, is exactly what they want. They survive solely on clicks and ratings. Do not feed the media beast.

I didn’t feed the media. Senator McConnell did that. I’m just noticing.

  16. If a majority of the RINOS including all of those who are not retiring mean what the said about the framework allowing the accused full due process rights including: the right to know your accusers, the right to and attorney, the right to present evidence, the right to question your accusers, the right to a jury trial, the right to appeal, and the right to have the state pay for all your attendant costs at the hearing if the accused is unable to do so due to financial hardship.

I do not believe the Rats would agree to many of these rights, and thus the bill would fail; write or e-mail your Senator!

  17. Anytime they put ‘Common Sense’ and gun control together it just means more useless restrictions on the law abiding. They should be fined anytime they use that phrase!

  18. Media, in general, doesn’t know it’s ass from that proverbial hole in the ground, an unfortunate situation, but an existing one. They also seem bound and determined to confuse things as they desire them, as opposed to things as they are which all to clearly is displayed in “news coverage” involving or in any way related to firearms. Their technical ignorance concerning firearms, no state secrets involved, is quite amazing especially in this day and age.
