Wilson Combat has further refined the groundbreaking EDC X9 family of high-performance defensive handguns with the new EDC X9S, a sub-compact double-column 9mm with a gripless lightweight aluminum grip frame design.
The trim X9S solid frame accepts an enhanced capacity double-column magazine but is smaller in size than most comparably sized single-stack handguns. The sub-compact 10-round, double-column 9mm X9S magazine is based on our EDC X9 magazine that was developed jointly with Mec-Gar, industry leaders in double column magazine design.
The new EDC X9S frame is expertly machined from solid T6-7075 aluminum and with a size and shape that is ideal for concealed carry use for shooters of most hand sizes. At 25.5 ounces unloaded and right at 30 ounces fully loaded, the X9S is light enough to carry for long durations but has enough frame mass that recoil during rapid fire is greatly enhanced over other sub-compact 9mm handguns.
Like the EDC X9, the EDC X9S can be field stripped without tools and can be completely disassembled using only a single punch.
The slim and flat EDC X9S solid frame with the Wilson Combat X-Tac tread pattern improves control with a non-abrasive, comfortable grip in all shooting conditions. An all-new, lower profile “concealment” rear battlesight, thumb safety, magazine release, and slide controls give the X9S a lower profile than the standard EDC X9.
A medium length trigger is standard, but three trigger pad lengths are available on custom order to allow shooters to customize the X9S to suit their hand size. The EDC X9S is available for order with or without an accessory rail and most leather holsters for 3.25″-3.5″ 1911 handguns will fit the non-rail version.
The EDC X9S sub-compact slide assembly retains Wilson Combat’s “Enhanced Reliability System” (ERS) for 9mm 1911’s. The ERS is tailored to the varying power levels of 9mm ammunition and maintains impressive reliability in all conditions, even when heavily fouled and low on lubrication. Other cosmetic and performance features include a tri-top slide profile with user-replaceable front sight, single-lug, tapered cone match-grade 1911 barrel, reliability enhancing reduced frame rails and a rugged, user-serviceable external extractor.
The hand-fitted 3.25” barrel design has the same match-grade accuracy potential as the larger EDC X9 handguns and is painstakingly tuned by our gunsmiths for flawless reliability with a wide variety of target and defensive ammunition.

Okay, this looks nice. I have an older compact 1911 9mm from another manufacturer, and I absolutely love it (I’m a 1911 aficionado as well as a Glock fanboi). This Wilson piece looks pretty nice, and I’d seriously look into getting one if it were below $1000.
Haz- I’m thinking you’ve never owed a Wilson if you think any of their products are less than 1000. Maybe some 1911 mags and ammo. Def not any firearm!

Check out the Springfield Armory (yeah, I know – Springfield Armory! phzzzzt!) EMP in 9mm. About the same size, a 9+1 capacity, night sights and about $1,500 cheaper. I got one years ago (before the whole SA kerfuffle broke) and I’ve got to say that I was (and am) very pleased with this small 1911-type handgun. It’s very well fitted, accurate and reliable. The only thing I did to pimp it up was to add a CT laser grip.
I bought one for myself for Christmas. They had a special package with five mags and a range bag for under $1000. When I went to pick it up after the ten day waiting period, Sportsman’s Warehouse had it on special–another $100 off. They gave me the additional discount. Pretty sweet deal–I’ve been wanting one since they were first introduced years ago.
That new 2020 Corvette looks really nice, has impressive track stats, and the mid-engine design appeals to me.
I’d seriously consider buying one if it were priced the same as a Ford Fiesta.
Corvettes and possibly Wilson Combats too, have sold out every year since their introduction. Fiestas and Hi Points, not so much.
If the Ford Fiesta had equivalent performance to the 2020 Corvette, that would be valid analogy.
For many people, guns are primarily a tool for putting bullets in things. If there are other weapons that are as reliable, accurate, and quick-shooting as this one, then price comparisons are a valid.
When a gun is more of a fetish object or status symbol than a tool, as they are for some owners, the price comparisons can be dismissed by them as irrelevant. For those people, if this same gun was priced under $1000 and therefore affordable for many more people, they wouldn’t desire it as much.
I agree with Ogre. The SA EMP was far more accurate than any 3″ 9mm 1911 should be. The only issue is the proprietary mags. It doesn’t use standard 1911 9mm mags.
That’s one of the reasons the EMP is special. Different magazine. Different grip radius. The back end is different from old man Browning’s schematic.

My edc x9 is amazing. The finest handgun I have ever shot. This thing has peaked my interest. I really want to shoot one.
I do not like the absence of removable grips at all. It is a definite draw back. One expects the lack of grips on junk plasticky pistols but on a pistol costing that much it does seem strange to stay the least.

For the last three weeks I have been reading endless hysterical reports about gun grabbing in Virginia and I even shared my correspondence to the Pope about it and still there are people so clueless that they haven’t noticed what the “Governor” in Virginia is “Governor” of?
The Commonwealth of Virginia.
Is that Virginia, the State?
No.
Is that even the State of Virginia?
No.
Is it even the STATE OF VIRGINIA?
No.
Wake up!
This man “acting” as “a” Governor in Virginia has no authority to issue any orders affecting any actual Virginian.
Nor does he have any authority over any U.S. Territorial State of Virginia or its U.S. Citizens, either.
If you are not a Pauper on the public dole seeking welfare benefits as a ward of the Commonwealth of Virginia, he can’t say or do spit with you or your guns.
The only people he can order around are members of the Commonwealth — Paupers and welfare dependents receiving actual Federal Welfare Benefits.
So stop calling this idiot by names and titles he does not possess!
He is not The Governor of Virginia, nor is he the Governor of the State of Virginia. He’s the Pope’s locale Nabob and the Queen is derelict in her duty to shut him down and observe his limits and so is the Pope.
Don’t bother talking to him. Go straight to his Bosses and get in their faces. They know the limits of his role and “powers” so make them responsible for controlling their own employee.

There is no “State of Virginia”. Virginia is a Commonwealth, as is Kentucky, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. However the distinction is in name alone in the U.S.A.
Great, so it holds one more round than any of my other compact 1911s with a Wilson Combat 9 Round Officer/Compact magazine, which work in all of my short grip guns – and which guns can also take my 10 round Wilson Combat magazines.
While this one takes proprietary magazines, which work only in this gun.
Ask EMP owners how that’s working out for them right now.
It’s working out swimmingly for me. I have no problem finding magazines for the X9S nor the EMP.
I suppose you never heard of H&K, CZ, Beretta, or Glock, none of which use an ancient magazine design and are proprietary.
