Not having shot it, I'm curious about recoil. With the standard issue M16A4 you can hardly feel anything, particularly once you're wearing your combat load. Keeping the gun on target while firing on semi is something you can practically do in your sleep. If the 6.5mm is relatively close, that makes the case for upgrade that much more compelling.
Then again, I really don't see why carrying a sufficient amount of 7.62mm is such a daunting task.
I'm wondering, If this ammo system is so much better the the current system, why hasn't the the change taken place? My thoughts are, that those who make these decisions are greatly disconnected from those who would use this system.
There is such a Anti-Military bias in this country now due to the Kommunist regime now in power, that the Military Top Brass are stuck on stupid in trying to comply moronic rules coming down from the top, by people who are Anti_American Kommunist Pigs.

Detlef – I don't think it's about carrying enough 7.62, but rather more about manufacturing, shipping, storing, and distributing. Most of the soldiers I know would certainly carry a 7mm over a 5mm any day of the week! The gov't buys the bullets, so they get to pick which ones to buy. The same applies to 9mm and the current M9. I know most troops hold their M9's close to their heart, but I bet 90% of them would trade the 9mm in for a 40SW or 45ACP along with their 5.56mm.
2outspoken; you won't likely see this round becoming too popular, even with Les Bear's .264LBC round emerging nowadays. The 6.5mm is an interesting round – kind of like a magnum 6mm. Increased recoil and faster barrel wear will likely limit this round to civilian or special operations forces. While the 6.5mm round is extremely accurate, the costs outweighs the benefits. A better round would be the 6.8 Rem SPC, especially in shorter barrel (M4 type) rifles.
